Personally it feels more like some odd mix of the Undyne fight from undertale mixed with sound dodger.

AAAAAAAAAAA this reminds me of a tiny game series I made back on Scratch as a kid except it’s a rhythm game and WAAAAY cooler!!! Looking forward to this :)
This feels a lot like a part of Gitaroo Man gameplay where you aim the stick at the right direction

@@teodoricusslack4524 beatblock was originally a playdate project! we were never able to push it to completion there due to hardware limitations with playdate's refresh rate ( T T )=)

This is so awesome! I've been itching to play a new rhythm game lately! Remember me when the game blows up!
Just played the free demo. Cant leave a review on there yet so I figured I will leave my thoughts here.
My initial impression is that the game is very fun and intriguing. Theres a lot of potential for this game especially once people play it enough to get really good at it.
It feels like a combination of Catch the Beat, Undyne's Bossfight from undertale and maybe a little OSU! thrown in there too. The game also has a lot of style and a very defined artstyle that's very fun to look at. Theres also the perfect amount of variety in notes in my opinion. Beats, Sustains, Swings (I forget if they're actually called that), Mines, Sustian Mines and all of them also having the ability to be a Tap. And of course taps being able to be on their own.
My only real complaint right now is a lack of QOL and Accesiability features. Im well aware its only a demo right now so I can only assume things like that will come with the full release. But I struggle to differentiate the notes when they're all in the same black and white art-style against a colorful animated background, while there's screen shaking and effects going on. Never mind also being able to tell if its a Tap too. I'd love the ability to disable animated backgrounds and effects and also maybe even a mode where I can have each of the different note types be a different color.
Again, Im aware its only a demo and that features like those cant be expected of a demo but figured its worth bringing up my only real complaint about what I've experienced so far. Super fun game that you can tell is fueled by passion. Looking forward to trying the full release.

Played the demo a bit, really really cool. I'm most excited about the level editor. Right now it's pretty basic, which is how it's advertised, but overall it left me wanting more, which is what you want out of a demo. Great stuff.

yep! we have an early version of our editor in the demo already, and we plan to add more features/polish in future updates ^^

i played the demo and the game is amazing. The demo had a huge difficulty spike but im sure that's just because it's a demo (and probably because im not that good, especially on the corner notes). Great songs and great gamplay!
@@clutteryguy9747 we're happy you enjoyed it! the demo's difficulty spike is unfortunately steep due to its scope, and we plan to have the full release be better-paced ^^

@@BeatblockGamealso i have a suggestion: maybe implementing a way to stabalize your mouse a bit more could be good. Unless you want to make it more of a skill thing. From my experience, on one of my attempts on the last level of the demo i accidentaly moved the game screen (though that could be neglected if in the future you are able to play fullscreen). Just a suggestion though :)
@@clutteryguy9747 we currently have a circle snap option for mouse controls that prevents cursor drift! our newest update also has an option for fullscreen, but is rough around the edges- we're working on smoothing it out!

this is a great game so far, but there *needs* to be a "lock cursor to screen" kinda option, because i keep accidentilly moving my mouse off of the screen, causing the paddle to not move and making me miss lol
so other than that one gripe, amazing game!
sorry about that! i suggest trying our "circle snap" control option in the settings- it locks the mouse to a radius around the player, and it may potentially solve those issues. we're also working on more accessibility options to allow players to tweak their controls and play experience further ^^

I played the demo and while really good, I found slides and taps to be quite annoying and intrusive, overall just making the game a lot less fun than it could've been. I still definitely recommend the demo, but if you aren't good with overstimulation, maybe stray away from the last two levels
thank you for the feedback! we plan to add options for adjusting leniency with taps & side notes, as well as a reduced/no VFX mode. accessibility is one of our big focuses for the upcoming patch ^^

an early version of our editor is in the demo right now on steam and itch!! it's not super user-friendly right now, but we'll be working on polishing it up as development continues ^^

small update on that: trying to reverse engineer how the levels were made to figure out how to make one (its not going well)
update on the update: ive managed to get to the "oh no the game broke" screen i have no idea what im even doing BUT I THINK THIS MAY BE PROGRESS!!!
yet another update: i think it might be because the song is Super Mario Sunshine - Delfino Plaza, but it never begins (30 minutes) in its properties but called "god" as the file... but its reading whatever song i put in it yet not loading it soo..

of course! our current demo already has an early version of our level editor and a custom level select (unless you're on mac. imgui issues my beloathed)
