- After the positive reception on my Kirby mods on other RUclips channels I decided to make my own and show you guys what I do in my offtime. Primarily I make Blender stuff, music and Kirby mods. And say hi to Luna, the mascot of the channel!
I've been using Blender for a while now, and I decided to put my skills to the test with an animation tribute to Kirby's Return to Dream Land! This was supposed to come out on the anniversary but oh well. There's always next year ;)
The whole project took me just over a month to finish and three days to render. After numerous test renders I can finally say I'm proud of this result. Though there still are a LOT of things that I'd like to change.
Regarding the video itself, in the beginning I couldn't manage to replicate the firey effect of the original animation, so I went with something more solid. I wanted to express Magolor's internal struggle between himself and the Master Crown, with certain aspects of his own body being manipulated to keep the crown in place (E.G. the spikes, which I consider to be part of Magolor's own body), and the rune-like rings, handcuffing him to do the crown's bidding.
Despite popular belief, I do think that Dark Matter had something to do with this as well, so I tried to make it as if Dark Matter was trying to make Magolor just stand still, waiting for the crown to possess him, while watching Kirby and his friends in hope to finally defeat them. (I think it was it who manipulated Magolor into seeking unlimited power. Otherwise the red eye and the 02-like Killer Needles would be such a red herring. Hopefully we'll get more clues in the remake. )
Also I think the idea of Magolor's eyes being just as hollow as his mouth make him more of a hollow husk for the crown and Drak Matter. And the eye inception looks cool af imo.
And I included the fabled Magolor jumpscare bc of course i did.

What makes this really terrifying is the face! The way the eye moves under his face like he’s just an actual sad shell!

If Sox removed the eye at magalor soul right at start then showed the eye when the Chain and Crown fully control him it would be scarier

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but I like the interpretation that the "eyeholes" and the mouth are both holes in the skin that covers the giant, bloodshot eye. Even more terrifying than the base idea of "that's no mouth, that's an eyelid" scare, for sure

Man this has so many details.
First, when he gains consciousness, Magalor from within tries to break free from his outer shell, only to be put back in check by the crown. He loses control of the main body, but Magalor can still move his hands, so he tries to break it with his hands, until the crown takes care of that as well, and locks them up. Now, the crown is in full control of Magalor...
The eye sliding around under the skin and the sheer EMOTION in his movements is so fucking good. SO good. It's really upsetting to watch in the best way possible.
Dude, I can't stop watching this. The sync up with the music is also incredible. God I wish I could be this cool. I want to make something this cool. You might get me to finally pick up Blender again

The "eyes" just being two additional eyeholes is both awesomely creepy and awesomely genius
I like the idea of the hexagonal bracelets around his hands acting as cuffs for the crown to control Magalor with as well as the silver vine-looking things around the horns acting in a similar way, awesome details.
God its actually kinda sad seeing this. Magolor once an innocent looking traveler, now just a spirit in A Shell, yet still trying to break free and get his life back. The crown is just too strong.
Edit: after reading the new pause screen descriptions for Soul in the true arena in the remake I feel even more bad for the guy.
This is fantastic; the way that you have incorporated the aspect of Magalor's possession into the animation is, for lack of a better phrase, absolutely smashing.
I am looking forward to that C-R-O-W-N-E-D arrangement, the initial notes are very near perfect.
Oh god the idea that Magolor's skin is just a mask for the eye is terrifying but I love it
If HAL didn't hire you to direct the cutscenes for RtDL Deluxe, then they really dropped the ball this time.

To be true, Magolor Try to break these chains off him before the spikes which shows he don't want to suffer and to be free from the master crown, once the transformation continue, magolor can't hold it any longer as the master crown controls him and make his mind fill with rage and revenge towards Kirby and his team

That is terrifying.
The way the crown wraps its tendrils around Magalor’s shell like an infection or harness, the way Magalor then *screams* and desperately tries to pry it off, only for his hands to be pierced by the spikes; and how the sigils on his hands are more like cuffs.
No wonder Magalor canonically changed his tune after this. This was kind of an extremely painful lesson for him about how power can control you instead of the other way around.
@@apollyonnoctis1291 it's odd how the red and blue magolor soul still has the sun sigils on his wrists. While the black and grey version has hexagons on his wrists instead.

To me, it seems like the red and blue version doesn't give him a choice either because of the way the crown wraps around and mutates Magolor’s body.
Ok now that was terrifying and i LOVED IT, EVERY GOD DAMN SECON IS A MASTERPIECE, a truly good way to wait to this awesome kirby villain in kirby return to dreamland deluxe.

its amazing !! Everything in the video is crafted fantasticly.
The model iself is amasingly detailed, the scale patern & the ruby eye on the crown, the old hood is burnt in some places, the runes/handcuffs, the eye is has hollow has the void.
The animation and music are great too! An almost angelic-like begining with the chorus and soft violon, while Magolor is almost inconsious, and has the lightning begun to strike, the chorus and violon slowly leaves and a piano comes forth, the crown tries to take hold of him. You hear then sudenly the violon replicate and the piano following close, one trying to drown the other by their will, Magolor is deseperatly trying to keep the crown at bay. But an organ (the instrument) come busting, the crown is winning, it changes him, and when it setles down, the faint sound of violon is still heard untill the piano quiets him, the last shine of might that Magolor had got puffed out by the crowns power. And we see the crimson eye move under the face of the husk of the once poor soul who tried to take infinite power for granted.
im not an expert but is an amazing animation, and you deserve more prace for that amazing work

Imagine kirbys getting badly beaten by the main villain of the next game. Magolor watches from afar, noticing that he's too weak to save kirby, but when he looks to the side of him in a test tube, he sees a variation of the master crown

At 0:17, Magolor almost struggling being in control with the crown until 0:21

This has to be one of the most beautifully done animations of Magolor Soul! You need to do more with the other Kirby bosses!

I like the idea that the eye inside the mouth can be seen through the face's eye as well. It gives a rather disturbing vibe. Perfect for Kirby.

You know. Now that i have seen this video. Magolor sorta looks like a butterfly. Now i think that butterflies are the most feared and powerful creatures in the Kirby franchise. (Just look at him and how morpho knight appears in fights)
Morpho knight is who started the who "Fear the butterfly" debacle. (mostly because it suggest the butterfly at the start of each game is the same one.)
Oh my god that final shot makes Magolor Soul so much more horrifying. The implication that his white eyes are actually just holes showing the white of the eye in the mouth and his whole face is merely a skin mask for a huge eye is delightfully disturbing. It’s like Void Termina’s core, how its “face” is just holes on the exterior trying to vaguely resemble one.
I even noticed the mouth eye looking through Magolor’s eye at the start, but I didn’t realize what it was (I’m on mobile so the screen is small). I thought it was just some odd lighting, so I was really taken aback when the close-up happened.
I absolutely adore this. It makes me really hope they do actually tweak Magolor Soul’s design just a little bit to add a little fresh flavor like this. Not in a way that strays from the original, but rather adds onto it.

The fact that True Magolor Soul’s theme is named Supreme Overlord’s Coronation is such a cool coincidence, plus what you did with the end was super cool! Really great interpretation of a cutscene for this boss!

You can really see how hard Magolor is fighting back.
I just realized that magolor soul is just magolor but his torso is missing, his horn things are still there (just extended), he still has these hands that aren’t attached to him and he doesn’t have his mask anymore and now it’s him, behind all of the master crowns armor (kind of like the gem apple tree in the epilogue)

the flame effect for the wings, the crown so shiny it would make any surface after a full day of thorough cleaning feel ashamed, that arrangement (very hyped for the full version by the way), it all comes together beautifully in this

I really want Return to Dreamland Deluxe to visually merge the story and the extra mode together, making the EX color schemes part of the second phase, and even maybe include HR-D3 and Galacta Knight.(I seem to remember something like that happening before?) Any, I could imagine Magolor EX going into the blue not-soul form, the eye missing, and once he reaches half health this video happens.
I remember that water miniboss turning red for the entirety of phase 2, and maybe the same for King Doo, but even brighter instead of red?
I want a full accurate animation of the Finale of Kirby's Return to Dreamland
First the Landia Fight, then a cinematic Flight Passage with a Lor Starcutter Boss Battle at the end, then the Crash Land scene reanimated, the Magolor (EX) Fight with every attack in his sortiment representated up until his Star Shield Phase, the Magolor Soul fight made super epic and the Final Cutscene reanimated!
No 3D Animation, that wouldn't fit the game, but I hope someone takes on this project

Tl;Dr - Seeing that red iris got me thinking about Zero, Magolor, Void Termina and The Master Crown
I just realized, the Master Crown basically turned Magolor into a reincarnation of Zero, from all the way back in Dreamland 3
This also ties into the musical motifs, the previous phase of the Magolor fight was a remix of Hyper Zone 1, also from Dreamland 3.
The master crown amplifies dark thoughts and emotions, and Zero is the embodiment of them.
Since the Master Crown does that, it makes sense for Void Termina to have Master Crowns as an attack, Void Termina basically has the ability to create new incarnations of Zero.
I hope it's more intense like this in the remeke
I've been wanting an animated Kirby movie for years, and now, if one is ever made, I hope you get to work on it. Hopefully the Mario movie will lead to more Nintendo franchises getting movies.
This should be Magolor soul Cutscene in the True Arena or Extra Mode just like Marx Soul in Kirby Super Star Ultra The True Arena Cutscene, that would be sick and cool
