When you adjust for inflation the autoworkers have had their pay cut over the last 10 years.
But that’s not enough for the greedy corporations.
They also stratified the workers to create a lower class of employee who does the same job but gets paid less and gets less benefits.
Car prices have increased much higher than inflation would dictate.
CEO salaries were already incredibly high and they have been increased nearly 50%

The union is asking for 36% wage increase over four years after not having a wage increase over 10 years. Mary Barra got a 34% salary increase in just one year so sorry if I'm not feeling any sorrow for the Big 3 CEOs. Stand strong UAW!

I’m not saying it’s the hardest job. Or takes the most training but it takes a good six months to a year to get into the cadence and not be in pain for months at a time. Us asking for the same type of wage to afford the life style we fought for isn’t like we’re trying to get rich. We wanna make the 2023 equivalent to 1997’s 28.00 per hour

They also paid back those loans. Are you ok with all of the PPE loans they received during covid? How about the all of the corporate welfare the government is giving for EV vehicles that nobody wants. The tax break given by the last president. These companies can pay the workers a better wage.
      150,000 workers x 33 and hour = 4,950,000 x 2080 = 10,296,000,000 in wages if everyone was maxed out.
      40% pay raise 33 x 1.4 = 46.2
      150,000 x 46.2 = 6,930,000 x 2080 (total hours) = 14,414,400,000 total wages for all 3.
      difference 14,414,400,000 - 10,296,000,000 = 4,118,400,000 difference over 4 year. 4,118,400,000/4 = 1,029,600,000 a year for all 3 companies.
current PROFIT for the last 6 months $21,000,000,000 difference from the first 6 months over the difference of 4 year increase. $19,970,400,000 with 2 quarters to go this year. These companies could give a 40% raise and pay all workers for 4 years in advance and still make $19 Billion just in the first half.
      These companies can afford it.

And not one of these companies are willing to give anything back to the workers that made them their ridiculous greedy millions of dollars!!

I worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections for 28 years. My coworkers and I put our lives in harms way more than a few times. There were times when I thought we might not make it out alive. Never did we get a 34% wage increase. I have seen myself how easy some of their jobs are inside car factories. Another 34%? I don't think it is necessary considering the average wage in Michigan. When will it be enough? If they got a 100% raise, they would still want another 34%. What the heck people.
