    That is very cool. I live in Florida. When I was a kid I planted one of these. It was a tiny one in my backyard. It grew up a cypress tree. I recently looked on google maps at my old childhood home and the plant is still there with leaves as big as yours all the way to the top of the tree. So happy that is my plant though that house has now had several owners.

      Amazing story! Thanks for sharing. Yes, they will keep on growing. Even if you cut them really short. As long as the roots are still anchored to the ground. They are very resilient plants!

    It's not a big or small pothos, the large cuttings make large plants. If a pothos has to start from a small size, of course it will be small. The leaf size comes from stem thickness which comes from age. You should mix it up and put some dragon tail or marble queen pothos. All pothos can climb and increase in size. Just takes time

    • @IslandBoysTV2020
      @IslandBoysTV2020  3 года назад +14

      Thanks for these valuable information. To add to this, I have also experienced that even thick stem cuttings will also start to grow small leaves, and I would still need to wait until they cling and climb up to a certain height before they start forming bigger leaves. Those stems that weren't able to cling would not grow large leaves, but those stems that were able to get a firmer grip on the wall would grow thicker stems and larger leaves. Well that's just based on my observation haha :)

    Actually giant pothos and regular pothos are the same plant. The leaves of pothos keeps getting bigger when when the apex roots gets vertical support to grip on (this isnt the same as making it vertical with a support such as rope or stick or something). Eventually the leaves become very big. For the ones where even the lower leave are big are basically the ones grown from the cuttings from the top portion of another plant

    We have pothos that big , and it can also be achieved even if you just plant pothos around “Neem Tree” or anyother big tree. And it won’t even take any amount of fertilizer or anything. But in 2-3 years voila

      Agree, I have also seen them grow up coconut trees. Ferts can definitely speed up the process, mine grows from the bottom of the wall to the top within 4 months in my estimate. Then again, if not in a rush we can ditch the ferts :)

      I have actually made an experiment, where a big leaf pothos and a small leaf pothos are currently clinged in the same wall, growing at the same height. I noticed that the small leaf pothos are still retaining the smaller leaves even if it has already clinged from the ground up. I am thinking that maybe the age of the replanted stem could make the difference. But yes! Thank you for sharing your idea. I'm just sharing mine as well. Stay safe and healthy!

      Hindi naman mamamatay ang naicut na vine. No need to put anything dun sa exposed vine na pinagputulan. Ang browning ng leaves can be caused by too much sunlight and heat due to our current sunmer season. Also, the placement of your pothos is better sa morning indirect sunlight. It will have a hard time surviving direct afternoon sun.

    I have the regular one which is the small variety but after growing them upward they do grow big leaves and if they grow giant they'll have fenestration like Monstera.
    So I do believe that the small variety and the giant photos are just the same. They'll just depend on how you grow them. If you grow them downward or in hanging pot. Their leaves grow smaller while if you grow them upwards and if there is something they can stick or hold something like wall or tree then the leaves will grow bigger like giant photos.

      Hello as requested! I have uploaded an update video!
      ruclips.net/video/vmFi2I12Uyc/видео.html
      Golden Pothos are perfect for our warm and humid climate. I guess it will depend on the temperature and humidity of your place, to see what specie of pothos would be compatible.
      I also used Golden Pothos since they are known to grow huge leaves, which I love :)

  • @waterlilydreams8046

    Do we need to provide any kind of support for the leave? Or just the wall in enough?

    • @IslandBoysTV2020
      @IslandBoysTV2020  2 года назад

      Once the plant anchors itself it will know if it can already grow bigger leaves. If the roots has not yet anchored enough, it will not grow the big leaves. That's why guide clamps and guide wires are used to be able to establish their anchors :)

But if it is grown up a large pole eventually it's leaves get bigger then a top cut is taken and the process repeated or wall and eventually it will make leaves the same as the Giant ones. Your "normal" one isn't as it's been shaded by the big ones giving it less light therefore the small leaves are staying small
