      I’m a fairly new plant mom and I have been looking for more on how to get your leaves to grow! Right now I’m focused on making it through the fall and winter months before I can say that I have it! I have transferred some of my water propagations to soil and I have some more clippings. Any tips or tricks for very cold temps I’m trying to pull back on watering to decrease my chances of fungus gnats thank you for any advice in advance! Love your channel! ❤

    I have a several different pothos! Most are babies. The "grandma". literally grandma as I inherited the plant from my grandmother after she passed away 22 years ago. Her leaves are small (the size of my hand) but she is still thriving and very happy! Thank you for the video! Your plants love you! Between my plants, cat and crochet I need a second job to support my fun!!

      My pothos leaves get bigger as they trail down the fridge to the floor. Maybe there is another variable. They like the indirect light coming in the glass panel door for one. I only use water.

    Excited to do this with my marble queen and cebu blue.
    And yes, thee act of climbing is what triggers the larger leaves. It's something that happens to a number of climbing plants.
    Monstera and the Pothos family are some of the most well known for this, but it can also happen to Syngonium (and the leaf shape can change quite dramatically)
    Hedera vines also trigger a change from climbing. Once they climb up a tree they can trigger a shift in the shape of the leaf, habit, and will start flowering each fall. And if you take a cutting of this part of the vine and manage to propagate it (it becomes much more difficult to propagate in this form than typical Hedera) it will continue to grow in that form and habit. In places where the plants is native they are sometimes sold ass shrubs under names like Hedera helix 'arborea'. It's not good to grow in non native areas though since this form flowers and sets seeds each year, and they have a propensity to be invasive.

    Wonderful information. Thanks so much. A pathos ivy got loose on my back porch, and grew giant leaves over a foot wide while trailing up the bricks. The porch was dark and gloomy and the ivies grew from a crack between porch and house, When we had a terrible freeze in Texas last year, I was stuck across town and couldn't help many of my plants. The Ivies died and I didn't know why they grew such large large leaves. Thanks to you I now know. I subscribed and I plan on watching more of your videos. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the tips and I hope for similar success! I’m hoping to be able to move them from water to soil soon so if you have any tips for that I’d love to hear them! Thanks

    I'm new to using moss poles. Where do you get those large poles? Do you have to tie the plant to the pole initially? How do you repot a plant that is on a moss pole? How do your spray your plants without getting it on the walls? Do you light your plants from above?

    I ended up here from watching the Sydney plant guy. He puts a bottle of water upside down on top of the moss pole and lets gravity do the work to water. He uses the same fertilizer in the water bottle. That looks so easy and what I plan on doing. Seems much easier than taking them outside once a week especially in the middle of winter when it's freezing.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  2 года назад

      I generally do the same thing, but I also take them outside when I can. Jan can't take his outside because of where he lives.Check out my watering videos here:

    Just found your chanel via the semi hydro subreddit, truly impresive work! You've clearly got the touch for growing big tropicals.
    The Epipremnum Golden Ivy, I take it that is the same as golden pathos? My golden pathos looks nothing like that though! haha. I've taken some cuttings with the hope of following your advise here.
    Do you have any large monstera deliciosa? I have stuggled to find people grown large monsteras in semi hydro, though I'm sure it can be done.
    I've never grown using moss pole, but it imagine it would be useful to have some way of chaneling the water down the middle of the pole. Like having a long, small diameter pipe with sporadic holes down the middle of the pole -with a reservoir at the top of the pole. That way you could fill up the reservoir to then drain down and saturate the pole.
    I grow orchids, I have experimented with semi hydro, though my most succesfull orchids I grow potted in stone pebbles in terracota pots. I water them by soaking them every few days for a few hours. I bassically have a tub of water and then I rotate which orchid is soaking. The tub always has nutrients in low dilution, I use akernes rain mix. I've been meaning to build a more automated flood/drain hydo detup to achieve the same thing but with more consistency.
    Anyway, I say all this to say that I agree that it seems logical to have nutrients in your water at all times, as this is how it is in nature anyway. Plants living climbing up a tree in a rain forest are naturally going to be feed by small amounts of nuts washing down the tree whenever it rains.
    Thanks for the videos much appreciated!

      Hello, I most certainly do have a large Monstera Deliciosa and Monkey Mask and El Salvador living in leca. Check out my Instagram account for more of those. This link takes you to my Monstera video on Instagram

      Any yes the Golden Ivy is probably the sameas the Golden Pothos, it does not help that plants are called different things in other countries.
      I look forward to interacting more with you.

    when u water the moss pole ,do u have to water the leca separately?or just let the water come from the moss when u water it?

    Omg I LOVE THIS VIDEO! THANK YOU!! I have a question or 2, lol, so unfortunately I only have 1 South facing window. I live in America in Wisconsin sooo the Winters are long, anyway so I know ppl say like Philadendrians and Pothos really don't need A lot of light, I disagree, like in Winter or an area of my home that has no "natural light" how long should I keep them under grow lights and because I have electric heat which SUUUPER drying would a humidifier work to help?

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  2 года назад

      Thank you for your kind words and for watching and subscribing, much appreciated! I use grow lights when I need to and keep them on for about 12 hours. A humidifier is your friend for sure.

    I've found that when I introduce moss poles with my plants, fungus gnats LOVE them and they spread like crazy. Have you experienced this?

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  2 года назад

      No I have not. I would bet that you have your plants in soil. The gnat lay there eggs in the soil and it all goes downhill from there. I do nothave any issues with gnats in my poles.
