    Moldova like Ukraine has within their borders many Russian colonists from the USSR era who are not loyal to their new countries. Those people like former European colonists have to choose either to return to their original country (Russia), fight to maintain their status as foreigners within that country, or change their allegiance to the new country. When empires die and diminish, this type of situation occurs and their are many examples of it in our world.

      you will find that the ethnic Russians of such places are fine with their "new" homelands just as long as they have equal rights. The problems start when nationalist governments in places like Kiev and Kishinyov think it's a really good idea to start limiting the Russian language and Russian cultural identity. Had Moldova decided to maintain good relations with Russia, it would have no problems at all with the Transnistrians, but Kishinyov decided to join the EU on a suicide mission to impoverish its citizens with excessive energy costs.

    • @gigikontra7023
      @gigikontra7023 Год назад +5

      @de caesaris I am not against the EU. EU is a good thing. I was only stressing that EU lacks determination and in my view it is overly bureaucratic. It is also very slow in making tough policy decisions. I still remember how many "EU summits" were organized for saving Greece and Cyprus from bankruptcy in 2011-2014. And the result? Greece still has the highest debt/GDP burden (175% of GDP) and Cypriot banks have been bailed-in (meaning customers' money above 100'000€ has disappeared). Not a convincing show. So while EU is a good thing for Romania, I would urge Romanians not to rely on EU. You never know when they'll sell you to Putin. There were so many EU summits in 2015 about Ukraine. The result? Ukraine got invaded... If EU provided more weapons to Ukraine in 2018, it wouldn't have been invaded! Don't you see politics is about promising and talking now, but never delivering? It is about deception! And because you mentioned George Simion and AUR. They have also deceived their electorate. They only superficially discuss reunification of Romania and Republic of Moldova. In reality, their role as Moscow -financed party is to disrupt Romanian politics and to block major decisions. Given their popularity they could have organized reunification protests in all towns in Romania. They didn't. They could have gathered signatures for a Reunification referendum. They didn't. Similarly, EU could subsidize Romanian ammunition and arms production. They don't. They subsidize "green energy". I hope you get my point. EU does not have a sense of urgency. They claim best intentions, but their actions fail to match those declared intentions. We should work with EU, but weary of them.

    • @Devim04

      @@WinterGK You sound like a victim of misinformation yourself. Russia is a country and EU is a union of countries who come together to equate Russia. So also is NATO, a union of countries which cannot individually face Russia. So, you can see them as a group of weak countries who have come together to fight Russia. EU is the authoritative arm of its member countries. The EU overrule the laws put by the elected governments of its member countries. They put up misinformation to topple the government of any member country who resists their authoritarianism. These countries use the media to subdue their citizens with false statistics and information that they are doing better than other countries even when the cost of living is increasingly unbearable to their citizens. You meant to say EU countries have high cost of living and I have to let you know that high cost of living doesn't necessarily mean high standard of living, and the reverse is also true. The misinformation from the EU is what make the vulnerable youths from other countries want to move to the EU countries or their countries wants to join the EU. A lot of them always regret their moves afterwards.

In the USSR there was nothing to spend this money due to a lack of goods. 2. This money burned down in the inflation and crisis of the 90s. Many savings were simply reset to zero after the collapse of the USSR.
      And yes, Poland was not part of the USSR. It was one of the countries with limited sovereignty that the USSR occupied after the war and where he installed a government loyal to himself. Life there was a little easier than in the USSR, but also very poor. If the country wanted to get out of the influence of the USSR, troops were sent there to suppress it.

    We in the EU must do _all_ we can to help Moldova to solve the Transnistria issue. Finding a solutaion is alpha and omega because that conflict needs to be solved before any possibility of membership of the EU (and possibly NATO), which many of us in the EU would really like to see. Moldova does not deserve to be under the foot of Moscow. Moldova with its rich culture is a European nation that deserve a place as an equal partner among the rest of us, sharing and exchanring similarities and differences.
