If you don't work with and finish concrete for a living, there's a good chance you don't know all the things to look out for when the concrete is ready to finish.
In this video, I'm explaining some of those things we as finishers take into account when we start finishing a concrete job.
I talk about knowing how to time when to start finishing a lot on this channel. That's one of the most important factors in finishing concrete. Timing is everything as well as having enough manpower to get a good finish and not get behind on the process.

A good broom mark finish is a sign of a great concrete contactor. And Mike Day is one of them.

Mike I had a 14x40 by 4.5 inches thick patio done, the concrete guys didn't put in joints. Does it need them? Should I have them saw cut joints? How many?

In my experience, yeah concrete should have control joints. Especially if there's variable temperature swings throughout the year in your area and/or potential issues with grade below or around the concrete. I pour/finish concrete for a county school system here in NC and we either groove or cut joints every 5 feet. I believe Mike and his guys do joints every 10 feet or so generally (or at least they have in some videos). But definitely wait for Mike to answer because he has a ridiculous amount of experience.
