Today we're forming and pouring a concrete patio pool deck. I'm showing you my forming tips and tricks and how we pour the concrete in this video. This is Part 1 or 2, the finishing of the concrete will be in Part 2.
Forming around a pool isn't as easy as you might think. We have done so many over the years that we use a technique that works for us.
The video shows you how we lay out the forms, attach them together, pin them in place, and set them to grade.
We pumped the concrete for the pour. Most pool decks we pour and finish get a broom finish like this one. The cost is about half versus a stamped concrete pool deck. We either hand-tool the joints or saw-cut them like we did on this one.

Great video and the deck turned out nice.
You know that if you form the wider part of the deck you’re gonna be high on the narrow sides. By the time you set grade on the wide part (the 12 foot), you’re already 2+ inches below the top of the coping, then when you try to set grade on the narrow (the 6 foot) you’re high. But it’s either one or the other. Because if you set the narrow grade first you won’t have the fall you want on the wide grade.
And then that’s when you might have to dig some.
