In the words of Jin "In the course of a lifetime, a man will see uncountable meetings and partings. Yet, as your life's candle sputters and dies, whose face is it that smiles to greet you? Happy is the man that can sleep in the comfort of the smile he sees then. No, I don't wish for 'forever' Even just for one moment, it's enough if it's with her. And yet, what is the man to do who has not been afforded that chance? The road stretches on without end. I cannot but walk down it. As long as I can keep walking, I can hold out hope that one day, the time may come when I see her smile again.”
Before the game came out, I thought this was gonna be the drifting soul of this game that played a couple of times throughout the story, but this playing only once and where it does really makes this hit harder
I know the final part of the game hits hard, but I definetly think this is the most emotional part of the game, there is nothing you can do, other than wait for the days to slowly fade away, to homecoming.
Personally, I don't think the game reaches the emotional heights of the end of chapter 5 / beginning of chapter 6 again after that point. I still enjoyed the stuff after, but it just wasn't the same. That was peak. Maybe the best Xenoblade has ever been.
props to this song for making me cry my heart out both times it plays during the game. don’t think I’ve cried at a game as hard as I did during its second use since the ending of XC2, honestly. easiest GOTY for me.

It's more N than M i think, notice in the song that the singer refers itself as "man" and being the one left alone and behind (M was always the first to die and the only one to accept her eventual demise, not like N who was so sick of being the one left alone and weak enough to not accept it). She was always his "guiding light" and he was always "a step away" from reaching her (emotionally).
@@thepurplemudkip9998 is this story even better of an emotional ride than the previous two? It’s hard thinking of many things that top the ending from 2 in raw emotion
ive finished the game this game's ride is AMAZING at first the ending didnt have quite the same impact on me as 1's or 2's ending but i left the game way way more thoughtful than i left 1 and 2 the impact wasnt immediate but rather it grew on me this game is a MASTERPIECE
Mio and Noah's death scene reminded me of Cutscene after clearing Nijma Palace in Persona 5. Both has Protag getting questioned by someone and getting killed.
The one problem with this game is that it needs to be longer. Not because I didn’t want it to end, but because the last half of the final chapter felt rushed up until the final boss.
Takahashi openly said in an interview that he aimed to make the main story content a bit shorter than 2's while having more sidequests, so I think that's to blame for the kinda too fast pace overall.
I’m still in Chapter 5 and I think it’s longer than the last two main titles. At least cutscene wise including the hero quests to the point I just put the controller down and get that MGS movie experience
I agree dude, and I even did the hero sidequests and stuff. I just wished there was like another chapter or 2 to flesh out the relationships between eunie and taion, and sena and lanz a little more.
I don't think I could ever do that. To me, the most important thing for me to consider in such a situation is what would Mio want? Would she *want* to come back knowing what N would have to do to make it happen? And considering what Z wanted N to do to bring Mio back for him....the answer would most definitely have been "no".
@@gamester512 i think the thing is that N's constantly failing to break the cycle wore him down again and again and he saw no other alternatives for them to be happy
@@elkay_ezh2o I realize that, I'm just saying what my own take on being in a similar situation would be. The most important thing to me would be *"Would Mio even WANT to come back if this is the price I had to pay to make it happen?"* To me, the problem here is that while N made his choice because of how much he loved and missed Mio, he wound up disregarding what Mio would have wanted as well. And it's at that moment that N stopped worrying about what Mio wanted, and instead concerned himself only with what *he* wanted....and a good relationship can't survive if one side of the relationship is entirely selfish. Remember, N even said that Mio "belonged" to him, meaning that he'd stopped seeing her as a *person* and instead began seeing her as more of a *possession* ....and that's when N crossed the point of no return, when the woman he loved ceased to be a person and instead became a possession. And that's why M ultimately left him, because N had ceased to be the man she had fallen in love with and turned into little more than a heartless monster.
Spoiler I remember the hate i felt when Shania walked up to the cell, i just wanted to kill her but that would've been exactly what she wanted. I think she's one of the sadest characters in the game, so desperate to escape her reality, she's willing to do everything if it just means for her to be able to restart, while in reality all she had to do was expressing her feelings just one time and follow her own way. God, i love this game.
