    Splendid video! Circle method beats plastic device & fork methods. Your directions are excellent. Many thanks.

    For the 3rd method, cut a slit or a small gap in both circles! That way you can wrap your wool around it without always putting everything through the middle. If you cut a gap, turn the circles against each other to close it before you begin to cut or fill the last half inch going through the middle and then cut it, same effect, much faster and less annoying

    Tried this method for the first time it works well but have to mention you do need strong cardboard for the template as mine started to fold in as I was winding the yarn round. It takes time and patience to make a perfect pompom have tried a few different ways and will continue until I find the one that I feel comfortable with. Thankyou for sharing your technique, you make it look so easy. I have been for over 60 yrs and still look for new ideas.

      I did NOT like the circle cardboard method, too much trouble putting the yarn THRU the hole! 8 did however loved the fork method for making perfect small pompoms!

    Wow the circle method looks incredibly time consuming! The final result, admittedly, seems to have a denser, more filled out look than the others, but I imagine passing it through that small opening over and over would be tedious. I think I'll skip that one! Thank you for demonstrating the differences for us!

    I'm not sure if illustration board works bc I wrap very, very tightlym

    • @ajtiburi2667

      Definitely not cardboard because that is pretty softer(?)

    • @NuttyCrafter
      @NuttyCrafter  8 лет назад +9

      I used a cereal box and cut 2 rectangles the same size and stuck them together to make it stronger. Try not to wrap too tightly and it should be strong enough =)

    • @deirdremcmahon5211
      @deirdremcmahon5211 7 лет назад +7

      Hey_ItzHolly try cutting a little wedge out of the circle (so that it's a C shape instead of an O shape) - much quicker and means you can use a larger ball of wool, because you don't have to force the ball through the circle! Keep the open bit upright when you're cutting the threads to prevent the strands falling on the floor.

    • @Tippel3
      @Tippel3 6 лет назад +2

      Yes! It's usually made with a C shape and not with a closes circle. You can also turn the circles to close the gap before you cut it open. Maybe not if you have very lightweight cardboard.
      Thes technique is actually very good but the opening in the video was a bit too big. Depending on how big you make the circle inside in relation to the size of the other part, you'll get a more hard, round one (that doesn't need to be shaped afterwards, it's perfect round) or a loose fluffy one. You need to figure it out a bit but it's very easy. We made a ton of them as kids in every size and colour

    • @angelacross255
      @angelacross255 6 лет назад

      The circle one is a very old way. My mum and nan used to use that way but they cut the circles out of plastic lids like margarine or ice cream.(which used to come in plastic tubs)

    • @NuttyCrafter
      @NuttyCrafter  6 лет назад

      This depends on the type of yarn and the size of the pom-pom so there is no precise number. Just keep going until it looks full enough like in the video 😊

    • @NuttyCrafter
      @NuttyCrafter  7 лет назад

      It depends on the thickness of the yarn and the size of the pompom. I don't usually count, just keep going until it looks approximately the same as it does in the video =)
