I think about as many people tuned in daily to hear Bill Wolff's announcing as they did to actually watch the show; he had one of the most distinctive voices on television. In a national emergency, either he or Mandel Kramer could keep the country calm.

The pairing of Jamie & Marianne with Richard Bekins and Beth Collins portraying them was a great match, and I'm shocked that AW didn't expand on that couple more than they did. I think Jamie and Marianne had the makings of a potential soap super couple if the writers had let them have that chance.

It's too bad he never caught fire as the Steve Frame resurrection. He's such a good actor. But he was written poorly and their Alice at the time just faded into nothing playing against Canary, Wyndham and Watson.
As for your question, yes I think he got better looking as he aged.

I was under the impression they were going more for an Alice Rachel Mac triangle - vs. an Alice Steve Rachel triangle at this time frame... They knew, we knew and the whole wide world knew that no man was going to really and truly stand in the way of Mac and Rachel.

Two and a half minutes of credits... that would never happen today.

David Canary was recently interviewed about retiring from All My Children, but when asked about his career, he was very tight-lipped about his time on AW. He said he didn't particularly care for his job there, and he alluded to it being a hard and cold work enviroment

Sharon Gabet told me that when she joined AW after Edge Of Nights cancellation, that the show was terrible to her and she wished she had taken the role that ONE LIFE TO LIVE had offered her.

The revival of the Alice-Steve-Rachel triangle MIGHT have worked had they cast a competent actress as Alice. Linda Borgerson had zero chemistry with anyone in the cast. Also, she had no compattibility with David Canary. Nothing, zilch, bupkus.
Also, Rauch needed to have cast an actress the audience believed for one second could get Mac away from Rachel; he did not. The magic pairing was Richard Bekins' Jamie with Beth Collins Marianne, Now that worked and should have been front and center.

The end themes on this show are so damn good. I like the one before it the best.

Although this was a very blah theme and title design (compared to the ultra-brilliant interlocking rings logo and Rubenstein theme), I still liked the still shots behind the credits that they continued to do for a while after the theme change on 09/07/81.

Soaps used to do that back in the day to do occasional credit/cast rolls. Jeopardy! actually has a closing segment timed out at more than two minutes from time to time, probably due to few incorrect responses and triple stumpers.

Funny how when Victoria Wyndham took over the role of Rachel, the Steve and Alice triangle still worked even though Robin Strasser was playing Rachel when it started out but after Jackie Courtney and George Reinholt were fired, I dont think the new actors could be believable

I think I remember Jennifer Runyon as Sally but I think they SORASED her. I still remember her in The In Crowd (A Poor Man's Hairspray) where a Young Man named Del dances on Perry Parker's Dance Party and his Partner thinks that Dancing on the show can get her into Showbusiness.

Had George Reinholt and Jackie Courtney been able to return as Steve and Alice, and Micheal Ryan as John Randolph along with Lionel Johnston and Adrienne Wallace as John and Pats grown children Micheal and Marianne and kept Willis Frame and the Perini Family i believe AW ratings wouldve remained healthy...if Bk wouldnt return as Iris...Judith McConell shouldve been recast in that part instead of as Miranda Duval...had Steve and Alice had to be recast...Tina Sloane as Alice and Ron Tomme of Love of Life as Steve might have worked...the loss of focus on the Marhews family and loosing BK as Iris was AWs downfall...i didnt care too much for AW after Pat was written out and Linda Dano was overrratted as well as much of the 80s to 90s cast....they couldnt compare to the 60s and 70s era...the worse was the final ep. featuring an ape in love with Cass...dumb, dumb, dumb,....AW deserved that cancelllation but i was still sad to see it go...if only they had stayed focused on the Mathews and the Randolphs!

+Jim Davis Agreed Jim. Seeing the last episode of AW as like being that the deathbed of good friend. Sad to see them go, but glad they are out of pain.

@saskwatcher Linda Borgeson was beyond bland! Jacquie Courtney's highly emotional Alice was legend; however, I thought Vana Tribbey brought a renewed vitality to the role. She should have been retained longer. Never cared for Susan Harney or Wesley Ann Pfenning at all.
