    32:30 my guess is they use the 6kW heater for heating up the battery coolant which then if equipped with Liquid cooled condenser, can bring the refrigerant to better temperature range for effective heat pump refrigerant zone. If equipped with air cooled condenser, then relies on ambient temp as refrigerant fluid can still scavenge energy from ambient < 0degC, although depending on refrigerant fluid if r1234yf can degrade below -10C Ambient. Heat Pump with r1234yf takes quite a long time to warm up cabin and battery at

    The 180s1p configuration makes the Porsche battery more vulnerable to single cell failures, than most (all?) other EVs that have at least two cells in parallel. If one cell (due to fault) degrades 50%, the total battery capacity would go down 50% as well (until replaced). The relatively low voltage also suggests to me that they have plans for a larger battery in the future, with even more cells in series, by adding 2-4 of those 15s1p modules somewhere, like under the rear seat that Audi did on the Q8 e-tron.

Also dealers are being told to move their charging stations onto the public side of their property rather than the private side, which obviously makes them far more accessible. • @GregMcNamer
      @GregMcNamer 5 месяцев назад +3

      Not Kyle, but I think they're two wildly different missions.
      Macan is for people who want/need a sporty hatch back, but want something bigger/more capable than a Golf (GTI/R). It handles and rides very nicely (not as good of handling as a Golf or sports sedan).
      The Cayenne is a midsized SUV with a LOT more interior volume and the ability to tow 7000+lbs. It is larger and heavier making it less useable in the city and handles more like a traditional SUV than a large hatchback. It's also at least $20k more expensive than a similar Macan.

    • @stefanweilhartner4415

      does not matter much with a module based system.

    • @aritakalo8011
      @aritakalo8011 5 месяцев назад +1

      Packaging for modules most likely. Prismatic is bit of a "Well hiw good is it? Well how good they engineered it". Since prismatic is pretty much the custom world of cells. They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes depending on what one orders.
      Prismatic get bad rep many old early cells were prismatic and lousy. The tech inside is no different to cylinders, just different form factor packaging.
      Many start ups use cylinders, since you can source them as standard part from market.
      Many legacy industrial players use "prismatic" since place large enough order and you get them on exactly the physical size you want. Battery supplier will cast the box to exact specification and then just cut and fold the battery cell sandwich to meet that size.
      Tesla uses cylinders, since they started with laptop cylinder cells and they have production partnership with the major cylinder cell maker Panasonic.
      Neither is right or wrong. More hiw you engineer ones usage of them and the details of the exact cellsone uses. Specially with "prismatic" since there is no standard to prismatic cells. There is very excellent prismatic cells and very lousy prismatic cells.

    Thanks for the details Kyle, the best video out there about Macan. As a skier and kiteboarder I'm not ready to go as big as R1S before having kids, so eagerly waiting this car to be my roadtripper and daily use combo upgrading from M3. It's a shame that they don't offer heat scavenging but I can live with that. 10-80 charging speed is the highest prority. With my 2019 M3 Performance the biggest problem I've got in Tahoe is that I can't precondition the battery without having to turn on the AC and burn the cabin with the defroster after a long skiing day. It's almost never enough at least with my car to precondition for 5-20 mins to the closest supercharger to get charging speeds over 50kw. Battery is almost always freezing, then you get stuck in a charger for more than an hour at 30kw charging speeds (which almost never improves during charging). It's just terrible. For the Route Planner pretty much all of them are useless for me after having to pay for charging (somehow managed to get by 4 years for free. ) Tesla route planner does not take charging $$$ into account. As if it's the most insignificant parameter but it definitely is not for any income level! On the way from Tahoe to SF rates differ dramatically from 50c to 20c. It's like opting to get $10/gal fuel vs $4/gal fuel which might be 3 mins futher. This is definitely something to be talked about. I get it’s better to influence behavior and reduce stress on the grid, but I wish Tesla offered some sort of subscription for not having to even think about demand charges. Anyhow not gonna keep ranting here, fantastic video, looking forward to testing the car!

    I'm willing to bet the Porsche Macan 4 will start at 75K and the Turbo model will start at 100K. Those are my guesses. I nailed the Cybertruck prices at 80k and 100K...
    Regardless the car does not seem all that interesting aside from the huge battery and potentially 300+ highway range at 70mph. But I have a feeling they did not prioritize enough on efficiency. The new Ioniq N sounds like a much more interesting car. It has some neat features like drift mode, clutch kick drift, simulated gear shifts, engine sounds, etc. Overall it seems to do the "fun" aspect really well. Range will be 20% less than the Macan, but it also will cost 40% less while offering almost identical performance. Also it seems like Hyundai have tuned the N to be track focused allowing for fast charing and high speed racing back to back. Not as aggressive as Porsche is my guess, but that is to be expected given the price difference. Also the Ioniq 5 should be lighter and offer very similar space, dimensions, and probably even some luxury/tech.

      As a current Macan S owner.... I think you're right on all fronts, but I'd also note that the $75k one will be before options, which in Porsche land means stupid omissions like no dimming mirrors, very basic, non-ventilated seats, basic stereo, no sunroof, no adaptive cruise, etc.
      I'm guessing $83k / $105k for Macan 4 / Turbo with the tech package, a color, and wheels.

    • @ayushmalpeddi2793
      @ayushmalpeddi2793 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@GregMcNamer Completely agree. No doubt you'll have to add on another 10K in packages to be competitive tech/feature wise to even some mainstream brands. My guess is base prices are around 75K for the base 4, but only time will tell.
      The ICE Macan use to be okay value, but recently they've been jacking up its prices like crazy. Now 62,550 gets you into a base 2.0T Macan. That makes me question my 75K guess. Macan still might be the best driving, feeling, and handling car, but paying that much is ludicrous given its base interior and no options. An SQ5 starts at 58,790 and X3 M40i starts at 62,895. Both are better than a base Macan at everything except for slightly worse steering feel/feedback. Go figure.

      @@user-br8ny2it9t I could compare to the BMW iX.
      But if my goal is sporty EV hatch, the Ioniq is probably the closest competition.
      I don't care about the badging, and I acknowledged there's a major difference in refinement.
      I legitimately will cross-shop these vehicles. As much as I enjoy refinement, I also am not going to throw 10s of thousands of dollars at potentially minor improvements.

      theoretically yes. but why should they. the boost is depending on maximum temperature of the copper windings in the motor, electronics,.... you can't change the hardware with a software update. other companies might not keep an eye on wear out limits but a porsche should have a high reliability.
      maybe a tuner can do this but then you would lose the warranty.

    Kyle, you know all them high priced presentation master classes they all teach people to first tell the audience what they will talk about, then lay it all out, and then repeat the highlights in the end. In theory that is the best way to present to an audience. Now look at your stats from youtube and see when people drop out of your videos. Are you still sure that is the best way? The amount of quality content is growing so fast a lot of people can't even keep up with their subscribtions these days. My point being, in this day and age, forget about those masterclasses. Drop the prolonged intro, keep more viewers and get better scores from the youtube algorhythem.
