Hi Matt, nice teaser and am looking forward to the complete review. Its looks are a bit meh for me... Ignis vibes crossed with the Venue. The final release may have a more defined style to it. The problem may be that the competition has had a early and successful stab in the market. Many MGs and seeing more Ora's in my hood. At 40k, the MG is quite a machine. Roomy, sporty, refined... At home in city and country environs... now, if Hyundai can bring this in at under 35k drive away, it will have a winner...but 40k, plus (assuming) on roads? Not sure about that.
If LFP batteries were used, 49kW battery installation would not have been possible. It would have been a smaller capacity battery and a heavier vehicle. Then, of course, the driving range would have been greatly reduced. People prefer more expensive NCM batteries, and fewer people prefer LFP batteries, which have many disadvantages. And since it does not use more than 2C rate, the lifespan of LG NCM batteries is guaranteed to be 700,000 km, so there is no need to worry about the lifespan. And the fatal flaw of LFP batteries is that they need to be periodically forcibly charged to 100% to calibrate the battery remaining capacity. This is very inconvenient. Especially in winter, the remaining capacity measurement becomes inaccurate, so the car may stop while driving due to inaccurate estimation of the remaining capacity.
The pain and suffering you go to bring us a review Matt at Wellington in summer commendable. As for the Inster, the first sensible sized EV i have seen. If $25 to $30 grand maybe but not worth $40,0000. I bet it doesn't get a spare wheel. 😊
Look cute, love K car like, but worrie about suspension are good enough to take on Aussie rough crappie road & strong wind, If going to be 35-40K, I rather buy kona hybrid, as EV charging infrastructure is still hopeless
@@tedf1471 don’t you know BYD batteries will explode? Self caught fire when fast charge? Is like driving a bomb with your family, don’t forget how Aussie law is very forgiving to big company even they caused lifes
Who are they targeting this for, the elderly, teenagers, corporate suits? With cost of living crisis affecting everyone, it's illogical to design a small city car for $40K and expect to sell thousands of them. The market here is too small compared to Korea. If Hyundai want to earn money they should target the charging system and make their money there. For $40K I expect some included extras like servicing and perhaps even charging credits for 3 years as incentive to spend that money to get value from the proposition. Maybe Hyundai can spend on infrastructure charging network and make their money there instead.
Smaller than my mg4. 😂 if they can match the Ora , mg4 and dolphin in similar pricing drive away then it worth a look. Better to wait for LFP version imo
Needs to be 30K driveaway. Also, that's the most blandest looking EV I've ever seen. Can't believe Hyundai totally missed the mark with coming up with a game changing design to propel the budget EV segment. Real damn shame they havent learnt their mistakes from their pricing strategy with the Hyundai Venue.
Thanks for watching! Just want to point out I got the size wrong. It’s closer to 3.8m than 3.6. Still tiny though!
It needs to be $32-34k to be a viable option. Not 40k.
I think you’re onto something there.
then you need to buy chinese ev
And support V2H standard
I assume that the price will be around 35k based on recent Korean price
Nice ev
Yep!

Thanks mate! Yep, serious Ignis vibes and I hope you’re right on the price. $35k d/a would make it a compelling choice!
Why even mentioned the polo? I see them parked next to road services too often

This seems like the right fit for urban use and a pretty good price point too.
Hopefully! Pricing should be announced in the next few weeks/months.

Thanks mate. Glad you appreciated the efforts!!
And yep, I hope they can get a sensible price on it.
You know the new Chery Omoda E5 electric small SUV has a FULL SIZE SPARE?
@therightcar I'm not an EV convert plus I couldn't keep a straight face when telling anyone I drive a Chery.😊
Visited Mohe in China in winter, saw many local brands testing cold weather durability. -28. A treat, beats Bali.😅
It’s ICE Version is Available as Exter and Casper are Exclusive to Some Markets
Thanks, Matt. An around towner, I think.
Great to see the Korean engineers taking sun safety seriously 😂
nice car, i preffer petrol version prices $ 25 to29.....
Want in India with a small powerful 800cc turbo diesel engine

Fair enough!
For the size of the batteries on offer the range is terrible.
interested to know how it compares with byd dolphin 😂
I’m redriving the Dolphin in a few weeks. Can tell you off the bat that the Dolphin has a bigger body and a chintzier interior.
@@therightcar Why are people not buying the GWM Ora? On appearances, it seems like a good buy with decent range.
Comparison is BYD will take your family to hell with their battery pack, Hyundai won’t
@@Colornwk What does that mean?

I remember having a car with a 3 speed Borg Warner gearbox....
Hahaa!
still way too much money for such small car and small size battery
Hyundai kia need to buy the lang lang providing ground of they really want to develop cars for Australia
Why? Hyundai/Kia has been in Australia for over 20 years and do local suspension development and testing months before a model is launched locally.
Yeah I’m not so sure this has caused them to fail in tuning cars up to this point. I prefer realworld road analysis, personally…
I think they will realase a on rail version for the masses.

Its smaller than those 3. It needs to be cheaper
@@alfstewart22 we all wish ithat the Inster be cheaper than the 3 hatchback. Going by Hyundai and Kia ev pricing. It hard to say.
LFP is a cheap Chinese battery that is technically inferior, so why do you want it?

LOL it’s certainly not bland. I completely disagree.
Venue used to be a bargain. Not anymore
Disagree, it's funky.
😡😡 ELECTRIC RUBBISH 🤑🧠🤖😡😡😡😡😡
Don’t buy one then😂
What is a less polluting alternative? You are probably too young to remember when folks smoked on aeroplanes.
