It is pure pleasure listening to Jeremy Jones talk about the mindset and intricacies of top-level billiards as this match is ongoing. He constantly amazes me with his analysis and observations. Kelly Fisher's commentary is superb as well. Thank you, both. Thanks also to Matchroom Pool making the videos available to billiard fans all over this incredible world. AND CONGRATS SVB!!!
He's very knowledgeable but they need someone to balance him and ask the questions he's giving the answers to. Otherwise, it's just study material and not a game to be enjoyed. No excitement. Give an funny local in there that plays some pool
I heard from someone that young Albin was more crybaby than all crybabies in the history of pool. Not sure if it’s true, but the thought of a 4-time world 9b finalist being all salty and shit is kinda hilarious
Congratulations Shane!!!! Well-deserved!!!! And THANK YOU MATCHROOM!!!! It's wonderful that you are supporting the growing popularity of this incredible game of skill, control, strategy, and finesse!
We need to start having these championships in front of bigger crowds, small stadium theatre type of arena with seating above the table level with jumbletron screen
Hard to believe SVB bested Albin here. Albin is a clinical machine at this point in his career. Albin's game 7 scratch on the break was the single turning point, imo. He would have been up 5-2 and still breaking. Hats off to Shane for an incredible run of racks to keep Albin seated!
The final cast a special atmosphere when there was no clear underdog. To my understanding Albin is strongest in the final stage, it's where all the consistency and stoicism has led. Shane didn't really have anything to prove, the title just had dodged him for so many times so there was a lot of emotion at stake. Had to be hard as nails to beat a player like Albin.
@ 37:46 I don't understand the cameraperson's intent here. Camera operators need to stop trying to make this so dramatic. This is a pool match, not a remake of The Color of Money, trying to win an academy award for ... You are missing half of the shot, which is: watching the cue ball come around 2 rails for the next shot, the 5 ball. There was absolutely no need to zoom the camera in close on that 2 ball shot. Your camera tricks made us viewers miss half of the shot sequence (pocketing the object ball and the concurrent full path of the cue ball) Please, no more changing camera angles during the middle of a shot. Everything else was golden, nice work to document this.
As I stated earlier, why do they have to replay every, single shot? I believe the viewers are mostly pool players themselves and want to see the layout of the balls on the table.
All the way from south africa !!!...and I gotta confess Shane is one of my top 2 best players just behind Efren Reyes. And I've never been so happy for him🎉
The way that cue ball spun into the middle pocket on the 6th rack break, you could really see the emotion on Ouschan's face for the entire rack as it gave SVB the opportunity to run the rack. Ouschan was looking down at the floor the whole time. SVB takes advantage of tough breaks like that and Ouschan knew it. The momentum shifted in SVB's direction from that point on. Wild finish.
He was destined to get a world title. His run to get the title was epic. The huge comeback against immonen, the double golden break against ko, and the INSANE kick to grab control of the final. Poetry in motion
The seating in pool matches needs to be rethought and redesigned. The crowd sits so far away, and at the same level as the table so they can't see much. Let's get the crowd a lot closer and looking down from a second level 10 ft over the table, at least. Then the first level can be for the players and cameras only. Fix these 2 things and there will be bigger crowds, It's just easier to watch pool on a TV screen
great thing about shane shot is that he got that delay and its so good in terms of feeling where the cue ball gonna end at, everything else was smooth for him and great win
Music rights. They blast songs between racks and so matchroom is muting the recordings sound during that time so RUclips doesn’t DMCA them. The real question is: if this is matchroom’s own footage going on mathrooms own page, why don’t have access to the commentary on a separate track that won’t get muted? Doesn’t take much foresight to keep around an original, uncompressed/unflattened copy of one of your biggest events of the year.
Hey Matchroom, could you please fix the audio issues. I assume it's a copyright thing with music being played at the venue. Sure...but it's a great chance, in between racks, for the commentators to talk about some things other than the current game being played. And I'm hanging on every word! Just seems a little strange that such a successful platform, such as yours, would have such an obvious anomaly. That said, thanks for providing all the great quality content, and for free! I'm eating it up. LIKE!
@LvLdGhost I would have been if it wasn't five thousand miles away and I didn't have an inner ear disease which prevents me from flying. Why weren't you there?

It has been 20 years since an American won this title! I'm happy for Shane: he had the strength to get back up after two lost finals, and this is already extraordinary. Now who stops him anymore?
Fantastic play by both players Both equally capable of winning But... Am I missing something? Why were there so many empty seats? Is it a private tournament? If it had been the world snooker tournament the place would have been packed
You could tell how bad Shane wanted that. He stayed nervous sort of the whole match. And with the final 9 straight in, he took extra time to breathe and savor it... I think because this one eluded him he wanted it extra bad.
Thats jeremy jones commentating right? Hes very good at it. Kelly fisher is always a good to hear her. Shes still on top of female pool world. Two time michigan open champion kelly fisher.
I’ve heard several pool commentators talk about the need to build the game, and things that might be done to attract more new players to the game.,, and actions to increase participation. It’s so obvious that pool has a great unrealized potential for growth. So much history, so accessible, affordable, anybody should be able to play... I just haven’t seen anything being done to grow the game in North America for new players.
Now that's how you finish out a world championship last 6 games your opponent only comes to the table once well deserved world championship Captain America
The way Shane screams USA after winning the match, just shows the weight he carries on his shoulder. For him, it wasnt just to prove his abilities, cuz let's be real if he never won a world championship, he'd still go down the history books as one of the greatest of all time. It was to prove that America still produces world champions.
Phil Yates was wrong about the comparisons of SVB and Tiger. SVB did win his first major as a professional. The U.S. Open in 2007. SVB has 5 U.S. Opens, a World 9-ball, a World 8-ball, a World 14.1, 2 Derby Masters of the Table, and many U.S. Open titles in 10-ball, 8-ball, and One Pocket. I think SVB has at least 17+ “major” titles.
I would love it if they had a local comedian in the booth that knows enough to ask questions. It would make sense instead if getting a pool lesson instead of laughing and enjoying the time. They already don't show emotion or allow the crowd to be crazy fans. At least give them that

It makes me sick to see the world 9 ball championship with empty seats. This game needs to be more popular.
That's why they hired Moore

Is it me or do these matches always go in and out of audio ? Weirdest thing ..
It’s so they don’t get copyrighted because they blast music in between frames.
Albin is very classy in defeat! Congrats to Shane!
According to what I’ve seen tonight, Albin has made every shot he’s tried…if he has missed, I haven’t seen it yet…this guy is exemplary…wow…
The comeback from 10-3 against Immonen and all the way to the end, true grit of a sportsman.
Are there copyrights, or something that are muting dialogue in between matches?
That's because of music I think
Music in the arena.
The music for sure. I've had plenty of copyright strikes with my RUclips channel because there was music in the background.
