Wemby never had foul problems (maybe in 2 or 3 games at the beginning of the season), the reality is that Pop and the Spurs wanted to take care of him, there were times where he was injured and played the same but less minutes, we also know that Pop usually takes care of his players and rest them as much as possible (the big 3 played 30/32 minutes in the Duncan era)
In the 2000s, when Tim Duncan was the anchor to multiple all time great defensive teams, teams with great records mind you, he never won DPOTY.
They gave it to the guy with the most blocks basically every year. Tim Duncan has one of the highest defensive ratings of all time. But he never won dpoty because Marcus Camby or Ben Wallace or Alonzo Mourning had more blocks. That's it.
Today, wemby is leading the nba in blocks, stocks ( by a massive margin), and defensive rating impact (29th to 5th).
Timberwolves got wins tho, so Rudy is the frontrunner. Tim Duncan would have 7 DPOTY with standard.

If Wemby gets to 12 Reb it would help a lot but even with 10reb 3.2blk 1.1 steals he’s beast if he gets that up to like a 3.5 with 12 reb and 1.5 steal idc if his team ass he’s DPOY
I keep saying it and I fully believe it... Making a bottom 3 defense into a top 5ish defense is more impressive than just anchoring an already top 5 defense. Add to that all the blocks and steals and its crazy that he's not even getting considered for DPOY. What is he supposed to do about bad defense when he's not on the floor??
Great to see 2 mega hyped rookies aka Luka and Wemby being as great as advertised. For a few years, many supposedly "top heavy" drafts werent all they were hyped up to be or had other issues such as health but that risk is lower with ppl going pro at 13. Many are great individual players but just dont really know basketball auch as Wiseman for a recent example.
Wemby shouldve been an All-Star... you are 100% right... sure you could say there were better players (1or2) but players like Wemby are why the All-Star game exist lol

If he doesn't win DPOY, that's pure rigging, forget about wins, his team mates are thrash. When ever he's off the floor, opponent score very easily.
