Not even a spurs fan but like I’ve loved this man since he was a bit younger Crazy. Also I’m a huge okc fan so I can’t wait for this duel hopefully for the next 20 years (hopefully) would be amazing
The dude is already exceeding expectations as a rookie… expectations that were sky high. The guys not the future he’s the present! I’m not even the biggest fan of him but I’ve studied the game and loved the nba since I was a kid and you can just tell with his mindset god given abilities and combine that with high skillset the dude is just incredible. Assuming the spurs can build around him correctly he’s gonna win multiple championships mvps dpoys and be a top 10 player ever bar injury and I don’t even feel like it’s a super hot take. Before he was in the league I joked that he could be like Giannis and KD combined now that’s not just a reality he could be even better than that. Wishing nothing but greatness and health for the kid
Had I seen this comment 6 months ago, I would have thought the glazing must be crazy, ive always had faith in the man to be the future of the league and potentially one of the greats if he stays injury free, but never have I thought he’d have surpassed the mile high expectations everyone had for him, but I really do see it, best player on his team already, prime rookie of the year AND defensive player of the year candidate, bulking up and building muscle at a faster pace than I expected, and still making massive progress in his game, he’s not just learning but adapting to the NBA at an exceptionally fast rate, the kids playing amazing and at the rate he’s going, I think we’ll one day have him in the goat debate, and I completely agree with you
Man, I love the way you talk hoops. You earned a sub from me, man. Gotta love Vic and his trajectory, and I got Shai for my MVP. You watch that man, and it's like art on the court. His vision for elevating his teammates, on top of elite offensive and defensive play; I truly believe he is definitionally the most valuable asset to one of the best teams in the league right now in OKC.
I love the chemistry that you Don and Moe have on the deep three podcast, but I really love what you got going on right here. This was the best topic to start my Friday on
I am totally there with you bro, not only is Wemby a great player already, in the conversation for 1st All-Devence, but he is already so freaking fun to watch!
@@Kaizen325yeah not yet, but he got the potential to be the greatest. with his mindset it might actually happen. i remember him quoting " if a I can be the best, I must be the best. at least he wont end up like ben simmons who wasted his talent and potential
Wemby recording a quadruple double feels inevitable, but when you consider he also has the equal highest number of steals in a single game this season with 6 I honestly believe he could record the first ever official quintuple double.
What caused Wembys leap is the fact that his teamates are ACTUALLY PASSING HIM THE BALL If you watched the games earlier in the year, his teammates would literally rather shoot a cobtested 3 over 2 defenders than pass him the ball
I got him as the 4th best center in the league over Bam right now. I also think he's the 2nd best defensive player behind Giannis. I just think the Spurs are making him look worse, put on any competent team and more people would see what I'm talking about. Especially if he ain't have a minutes restriction man he'd be cooking
Hello Isaac. I love the content you and the boys put out. You talk very, very, very fast sometimes. It is difficult to understand and process what you are saying when you blur words together. Also, I would love to see Wemby attempt to learn the Sky Hook. Just because.
after watching him play in person this thursday against the magic, the minutes that wemby is getting rn is heavily restricting him on what he can do. there is still so much that he can do but only time will tell
It irritates me when people say "let him prove it" like you mentioned. Just shows they're not watching games, cuz you literally cannot watch this guy rn and tell me to calm down. never seen anything like it
Damn, I didn't know you had your own channel. You should do more stuff like this. I think a lot of us viewers here appreciate your takes and opinions. You have more freedom to go more in-depth in topics in these videos than the usual podcast.
Pretty sure everyone is noticing and doesn't question it hes only what 18/19? Putting vets on the back of their heels. Even if ur casual everywhere u look they push this guy like the second coming of jesus. So underrated hearing that about vick? Thats wild bro. Talk about luka his stats this season on both sides of the ball or how no one has ever done what hes doing rn top 5 in EVERYTHING and hes not even top of discussion in the mvp race. TALK ABOUT THAT. Not calling the clear rookie of the year underrated dawg
Luka is a very serious candidate for me. Especially with Jokic having some actual bad games here and there, a rare sight. His overall scoring efficiency has been down a bit. Still very very good and I view him as the best player overall. I expect to have Jokic, Giannis, Shai, Luka as my top 4. I don't understand (I do, I just don't think it's valid) why people aren't hyping up what Giannis is doing. Especially with how bad Dame and their perimeter defense have been. He's carrying the hell out of the Bucks this year. Dude is blitzing teams in the first half, he did it to Denver the other night and the game was over after 10 mins.
Because Pop played Sochan at PG Jeremy is now a much better player. Because Jones came off the bench he is a tremendous PG. Because Wesley was 3rd behind Jones and Sochan he is now an unreal PG. If the Spurs keep Jones and Blake they are set for 5-10 years. Meanwhile, because Spurs don’t have to get an elite PG from outside, and because Pop limits play time they’ll be able to keep Wemby for 20 years. Pop plays the long ball. He doesn’t care about short or near-term gain.
Imagine a world where Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sees himself in Victor and mentors him on the sky hook and Victor brings back the new and improved sky hook as a signiture move ....wemby would be THEE most unstoppable center to have ever lived
You can’t legally hand check him, you can’t legally body up on him, you can’t legally block him in the lane, you can’t legally let the nail on your finger touch him…what the hell are defenses supposed to do? Because it sure feels to me that the NBA has pretty much just given up on 1/2 the game.
love this vid and i want more of the IG pod, but my criticism is the speed of you talkin is way to fast. I love youre show and I know this is not your cadence. Idk if that was edit team, but @thedeep3pod is a different context. when IG is talking, slow shit down cause he has a great pod/yt voice
I disagree that Point Sochan "actively hurt the development of the young core". It was painful, sure, but it also forced Sochan to refine his handle and passing while forcing Wemby to work on his isolation scoring as often as possible. Confronting weaknesses with tons of reps is how players get better.
His insane rookie year is getting overshadowed by the overall pace and scoring the NBA is at this year. Also just a reminder Embiid gave him a 70 sandwich.
The spurs have GOT to trade for an all star PG at some point then they are a championship team in 3 years this guy is that good I'm sure of it We may see OKC vs San An for a decade to come if both orgs carry on like they are The NBA is a 2k sim rn it's crazy
Strong disagree that the point sochan experiment was detrimental to the entire team's development. Running it for a third of the season ensured that they would essentially have training weights on as a team to start the season, causing a lot of losses - which is a good thing for the Spurs as a team right now. If they had run the most optimized lineup from day 1 they would be significantly higher in the wins column, which means nothing for a team in essentially year 1 of development towards contention.
Love the videos Isaac but please tone down the cursing...trying to watch your videos around my kids I have to either turn the video off or pause and find headphones.
lebron and jaylen brown had no business in the all star game i could see lebron being a reserve but there are so many snubs that are averaging more than him and he had the most votes. fans dont look at the stats. jaylen brown over gobert fox and sabonis is kinda crazy
imo wemby is a top 3 center when it comes to versatility already where he could spend the whole game with 3 dribbles and can still succeed on a widespread level. he’s got the jayson tatum affect (although not to the same degree obviously worse) to where he’s pretty good at literally everything on the court.
Tbh it really just depends on the meaning of MVP. If it means best player with team success then it's Jokic or Shai, if it means best player of a team that probably won't make the playoffs without him, then it's Luka 💯. I think it's most likely gonna be Shai or Jokic.
I'm not even really sure I'd pick AD above Wemby at this point. Wemby's scoring isn't that much worse and his defense is arguably better. Very debatable in my opinion
Bud, the reason Sochan started at PG is because the Spurs needed ball handling from everyone for their system. Sochan was the worse on the team by far and the easiest way to work on this is game experience. During this time, Wemby playing the four helped him see the floor from a different position, before he only played Center. Wemby has come out and said hes been working out as much as hes played basketball this year. He simply wasnt strong enough or had the stamina needed to play center in the league when he first came in. Sochan has been dynamic the 10 games, ball handling had been so much better and passing crisp, a true connector. This development was crucial for growth.
spurs fan here, there’s always the point of “the sochan experiment didn’t work” but that’s honestly not the case. yes, he didn’t become a ben simmons archetype, but that’s not what the spurs coaching staff expected. sochan was a post playmaker his rookie year, and the experiment was meant to expand it a bit, and it has done pretty well for it. he has learned a lot more to prevent turnovers, he’s been able to get the ball to wemby more easily, and his handle looks a bit more polished. obviously there’s still a lot of flaws in his game, but the difference in his game from his rookie year being god-awful on the offensive end (mostly shooting) to being decent is great.
we all know hes the new deal! but u forgetting something pop is under using him cause he needs to find one more super star? check out this coming up draft will there be another twin tower? wink
I find myself so sad every time wemby comes out of the game, looking at the box score, and seeing that he has played 28 minutes, knowing he will not come back :(
Yeah his D IQ is next level there was one play i saw where Wembanyama when for the steal near the ring but kept his hand up and blocked the shot where if he lowed his hand in the .2 secs he would of missed the block
You’re the only person who I’ve seen mention his off ball movement. It’s one of my favourite things about him and if he gets an elite passer with him one day it’s over
27 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks, 5 assists
Almost quadruple double since david robinson
i laugh everytime i hear Chet is a better player
10 BLOCKS! That's 20 or so points that he denied!
In like 29 minutes
Should of been an Allstar
You know what wouls be disgusting? If Wemby learned the Harden stepback, the distance he could create would be insane.
He already did it a few times, one over AD too
Wow he could fake a dunk and stepback a 3.
@tigwu This is completely absurd, but I had to stop and think about it for a moment cause it could be possible lmao
i see him make step back 3s more often than regular 3s honestly
Tim Duncan came in and won a chip first year, that's the standard sorry
