idk why my favorite was mashed tofu lmao
its more of flying boar i guess, hahaha cuz boar in chinese is called wild pig

He was also called as THE BIG MOUTH

@Erik Lerström OMG PEWDIEPIE YOU WATCH MY VIDEOS???? I LOVE YOU MAN
Erik Lerström Nah that was funny man chill
@@Ruben-wm7hx Swedes are the new savage. Seth Everman?
He didn't even mention the best one, Steph Curry with "Sky Fucker"
Why tho?
King John Because in Chinese if you want to say someone nails something insanely, you can describe it as “Shang tian” which means “going sky high”. And beyond that level would be “ri tian” which is “fuck the sky”. (Shang=going up, tian=sky and ri=fuck) And Curry long shots are just insane enough to be called ri tian. So he becomes Ku Ri Tian which is like Curry fucks sky or Curry the Sky Fucker. Also by that time there was a trending meme on Chinese social media, a random guy whose first name is Ritian randomly bolsters himself along with 3 others, and people meme with what they say and their names, especially ritian given the special meaning.
@@KingJohnTX "Sky" in China has a meaning of destiny and fate. Curry often change the destiny and fate of the game with his jumpers. "Sky Fucker" a man who is powerful enough to butt fuck the destiny.
It should be Heaven Fucker.
NO NO NO NO,the chinese word 天tian means sky,it's right correct, but if we r not talking about the weather or geography,it means the god.So his nickname is "God fucker" or "the man ,who has fucked Michael Jordan"lmfao

RichGang CEO You have the broken English down already, keep up the good work. 🈯️
no dont do it, as I learned English, I realize how hard Chinese is.
I always find chinese nicknames much cooler than English ones, I would like to list some of my favorite nicknames:
Dirk Nowitzki: 德国战车 the German Tank, referring to his nationality and range
Steve Nash: 风之子 Son of the Wind, referring to his speed
Khris Middleton: 那个男人 That Man. This is a internet meme of basically calling Middleton a legend, as he played the last two Celtics series during the playoffs with godly performances. Middleton became a name that terrorizes Celtic fans and he was referred to as That Man ever since.
Bledsoe: 血布, where 布(bù) is the phonetic word for Bled, while 血(xiě) means blood, making this a nice wordplay -- Blood Bled. Also, blood is a symbol of a fighter or masculinity in the Chinese culture, so it also reflects his slasher play style.
Kuzma: 裤子马 Pants Ma, because Pants in Chinese,裤子(kù zì),is a homonym to Kuz. Instead of typing the Chinese gibberish version of Kuzma, we prefer to call him Pants Ma.
Fultz: 富儿子 Rich Son. In Chinese, 富儿子 is homonymous to Fultz.
Doncic: 077, because 0 can be read as 洞(literally means a hole. This is an alternative pronunciation, like saying o instead of zero, in this case we call it a hole), which sounds like Don, and two 7s(qī qī) sounds like cic. This happens to be Doncics number too.
Lonzo: Ball Man.

Harden - 一灯大师 Master One Lamp, due to his obnoxious eye defense. In Mandarin blinking = 瞪 which sound like DEN, which also sound like lamp 灯。Master One Lamp is a very popular character in Chinese Martial Art novel.
Steph - 库日天 Skyfucker, referring to his ridiculous 3 points shooting accuracy that probably can shot down the sky / heaven
Tristan Thompson - 八贤王 Eight Wise Prince. He got 8+8 regularly and sign a 80 millions contract. In Chinese legend Eighth Wise Prince is the good brother of a famous Chinese Emperor, so it is also a reference to being loyal friend of Bron.
Andre Iguodala - 棺曼巴 Mamba in a coffin. Referring to his pedestrian performance in regular time but will stuck you at critical timing / making big shot.
Joel Embiid - 大帝 Great Emperor
Dario Saric - 丞相 prime minister, referring to his Philly day being a good sidekick for Embiid

The 少(shao) in 威少for westbrook can mean young, but here I think it's short for young master 少爷(shao ye). Just like how servants refer to sons of their employers as young master, in Chinese they call them 少爷(shaoye) and while other people will also refer to young masters of a respected family as such, e.g. 王少(wang shao) = short for young master wang. This nickname probably came from when the thunder had a promising young core of durant, westbrook, ibaka and harden called 雷霆四少(lei ting si shao) "the four young masters of Thunder".

I love it holy shit
Our favorite player Manu also has another chinese nickname called "鬼切", it means "ghost/demon slash", named after his unpredictable style of cutting and driving.
Manu is called 妖刀. And 妖 in Chinese has more means than the Devil. Chinese sometimes call someone who is a master of one or more field a 妖( You can conisder it as someone loves something like be bewitched ). So we call him 妖刀(The Devil`s Blade ) is a sort of respect.
unfortunately,Manu got another nickname, which is bald mamba. 😂

celtics fans fear so much when Middleton gets the ball and shoot,

Good vid. Kobe also has a chemical nickname as Fe3O4 iron means he misses the shot Oxygen in Chinese is pronounced the same as fade-away shots. And in Chinese pronunciation of this chemical means he is mister who misses three out of 4 of this fade-away shots haha. There are sooo many nickname of the NBA star like this of Kobe’s. Chinese language has a rich culture that makes these nicknames proper LOL
I LOVE THIS VIDEO. Grew up in Shanghai so I've been watching basketball on CCTV5 for the past 14-15 years now. Loved watching these nicknames come to life.
kobe: Fe3O4 ,a chemical material .
Fe3O4 in chinese is 四氧化三铁(si yang hua san tie),also same pronunciation with 四(4) 仰(jumping shoot) 化(TO) 三(3) 铁(missed goal),(when kobe backward jumping shoots for 4 times he will miss 3 times),we use it to tune he missed so much, also like Fe2O3.
BUT NO MALICE!

What about Luka & Jeremy Lin? And Durant?
IG Mylegasi Durant got some disrespectful nicknames from haters lol
Durant's name is Si Shen, which means the grim reaper in Chinese. Fans also like to call him Shubao Du. Shubao means backpck and Du is short for Durant. This nickname is referring to him always wearing backpacks. Haters call him Du Ruan, which sounds like Durant, but Ruan means soft and Du is short for Durant, so Soft Durant is the meaning. We often call Luka Dong 77, because Dong sounds like Don in Chinese and 77 sounds like cic, hence his last name Doncic. We just call Jeremy Lin his first name in Chinese, Shuhao, or Hao Ge, which means Brother Hao
Jermey Lin has a Chinese name.
Luka is nicknamed 077 in China

Really like the video, very interesting! As a German guy living in Korea and frequently struggling with the transliteration of names or expressions I appreaciate the unique perspective! Keep up the good work!
And an emotional one 追梦, Draymond, 追梦sounds like Draymond and it means chasing dreams, it refers to DG's hard path to success in the NBA, really a good one.

@@aboonstra2613 and the funniest part is that追蛋in Chinese simply means chasing the testicle😂. It became a lot funnier when compared to the previous one😂
I love how the vast majority of these nicknames are insulting or at best patronizing. Some of these had me dying. I'm sharing this video on FB and I subscribed. AWESOME STUFF!!
Actually, yes. For example, Fat (pig is actually about fat as well) is always a joking material for Chinese as long as it's talking about a MAN who you believe you have a GOOD relationship with. Otherwise, it is insulting.
How could you not mention Dirk Nowitzki being called the German Panzer Tank
Lmaooo
Rammstein is translated into German Panzer too..
Now we call Dirk old driver, tzki sounds like 司机(driver) in Mandarin, old driver also means punter, lol
Chinese fans call Dirk Nowitzki “driver” in Mandarin meaning “siji”(司机),sometimes call Dirk “Silver Horn the junior demon king”, in which as an artistic creative role 《Chinese Journey to the West》 one of Four Great Classical Novels
he got a better one, Old Driver.... Driver in Chinese read Si Ji which sounds like -zki. And in internet sub culture context, Driver also has a subtle meaning of those who share porn video online(for fun not for profits). Why then? not clear, maybe just for fun
I think, another thing to point out with why the chinese characters change (like with Kobe) is because when typing Chinese with a keyboard, auto suggest results start to appear. In Kobe's case, when "wo ke" is typed out, the first option would probably be 蜗壳 (as an actual word, snail shell, would be a better auto prediction from the software's perspective), instead of 我科 (the "actual" meaning of the nickname). Love this video, makes me proud to be Chinese :D
Most funny ones are : Kevin Durant : school backpack Durant ( he wore glasses and school backpack to dressing room and take interview, and thanks his mom , all sound like a good student )
Joel embbid :Joel always trolls on twitter on being the king / emperor of the basketball. He got the Chinese Knick name of The emperor . Not only that, in ancient history of China, every time one emperor made a statement. A government official will write this down for record keeping and public announce it . So every time embbid says something , Chinese fans of sixers will write down what he says in Shakespeare ancient language style .
Eg embid : we will come back and get them next year .
Chinese fans : since the 3rd year of emperor embid’s ruling , the emperor says : we shall return and thy shall be dead .

I'm a Chinese and I already know/heard most of those Chinese nicknames, but I still find this video very entertaining. Good job on the very to-the-point explanation and pop-up pictures! Thumbs up!
Stephen Curry's another Chinese nickname is 库日天(Ku Ri Tian)or 库昊(Ku Hao),昊(日 above 天)…… 日 (ri)in Chinese means Sun and…… Fuc* ,天 (tian)means Sky or Heaven. So, Curry's nickname could be translated as Skyfuc*er......lol
