I have to say I am VERY impressed with Seann William Scott actually doing much of his own stunt driving. Most Hollywood types couldn't begin to drive the way they are depicted doing. The chase scenes in the movie were just fantastic. Some of the best ever in movie making history. I'd say easily up there with Bullitt. Watching them throw that big beautiful Charger around like that was cinema supreme to me. I'll never be a fan of the wholesale wrecking of a Driver's car like a Charger, even the original Dukes included, but I just love seeing those gorgeous cars thrown into a slide. They just have an image that says, "FLOOR IT". From NASCAR to Bullitt, to the Dukes of Hazzard to the new Vanishing Point, to Death Proof, Fast and Furious (yech) and so many others, no other car makes the impression a '68-'70 Dodge Charger does. It is just a Detroit icon and a mile marker in automotive design. The four door remake was no more deserving of the name than the 1980's econobox. That said, while the General Lee's image was maintained and maybe even expanded upon in this movie, they went way, WAY too far with the image of the Duke family and Cooter and Roscoe and Boss Hogg and smeared and tarnished the nature and virtue of the entire franchise forever. It was like turning the Statue of Liberty into a crack head hooker and posing her propped up against a street lamp. I watched it and was EXTREMELY disappointed. Younger people that never followed the TV show wouldn't get it, but fans of the show sure do. Not one character was left alone and let be. I especially hated seeing my hero Bo Duke, portrayed in such a manner. Uncle Jesse would NEVER smoke dope and would be the first to condemn it! Unbelievable. People complained about Coy and Vance back in the day. Coy and Vance were Bo and Luke a hundred times over what the characters in this movie were. Coy and Vance were at least 100 percent true to the wholesome nature and virtue of the original characters. Not these guys, or anyone else in the movie for that matter. If they couldn't stay true to form, they should have LEFT THE DUKES ALONE and just made another car chase movie. Sorry. Rant over.
Still to this day… I’ve NEVER even been TEMPTED to watch this ridiculous bunch of Hollywood BS!!!. Should have NEVER been allowed to tarnish such a great show!!!
And they found a way to fuck up one of my favorite shows . I know I'm not alone.
