Nice footage showing my father playing 2nd Violin in the first row next to Prof. Hübner- wonderful
Seriously? That’s is quite cool
How wonderful!!
Amazing!
lovely you have that as a memory. wish i had film of my dad but we do have plenty photos
He looks just like you my friend, that’s amazing your father was in an orchestra!!
Dvorak + Karajan = Perfection
+ Uli Màrkle but I agree with you,, perfection absolutely perfection !
A verità
Dvorak + Dudamel = Allegro with fucking fuoco
The sound quality is great for this recording being so old
in that time Karajan was pioneer in the digital recordings always sponsored by Sony
@@claudiosalinasalvarez3840 The Sony CEO was even present, when Karajan passed away.
1985 isn't exactly the stone ages

This is definitely my favourite recording of the piece. I can hear everything so clearly.
I love how Herbert Von Karajan conducts in this symphony!
you can see the smoke pouring out of his ears
what symphony is this ?
Rae Sweeney dvorak symphony no 9 :)
@@raesweeney9659 are you really an idiot, or do you just pretend to be one? Don't you see what are you watching/listening to?
It's absolutely remarkable how at the end of his life and having a bitter and sad battle with his Berlin Orchestra he went to Vienna to make his final recordings taking this masterpieces to another level, Bruckner, Strauss, Dvorak, never sound better in The Imperial Vienna. No words to describe his painful farewell to the world maestro Karajan!!...
This truly is one of the best classical pieces of all time.
Man, to enjoy this beautiful piece conducted by Karajan in my bed is truly a gift.
Classical fans, wrestling fans, One Piece fans, Azura's Wrath and many others. One thing is for sure, is that we all have an excellent taste in music!

this piece will influence my writing forever
Talk about a vaccine for block.
My life was changed by the scene when Luffy beat Crocodile. Which is what got me here ;P.
The music of A. Dvořák represents a true Czech heart full of passion and Czech nation rich history..every time I listen to exactly this peace I feel being proud of our cultural heritage. Thanks for appreciation. :-)
Ved prave.. A potom si zvolite Zemana a Babisa.
Interesting that this symphony was written for American nationalism and that he drew from Native American and African American folk music to compose this piece.
+InteriorGaming
True, but he was Czech, and as is the case with most of these composers (people in general, but especially with limited communications technologies in the 19th century), regardless of what other inspirations he had, the core of his compositional knowledge and style was formed in and informed by his life where he lived and was taught. But yes, this was indeed the New World Symphony and was intended to show Americans how they could write 'respectable' music in a uniquely American style.
If you cannot feel his wistful sigh of loneliness in "the New World" and the view back into the Bohemian region, then you have probably not understood his expression at all.
Perhaps, but Dvořák was musically German.
Habe eure Vorstellung sehr genossen, danke schön!!!
Brillante interpretación , de la Magistral Obra Maestra ; Sinfonia#9 del Genial Compositor A.Dvorák ; bajo la Magistral DIRECCIÓN Del EXCELENTISIMO Y PRESTIGIOSO DIRECTOR .
"Neil Armstrong took a recording of the New World Symphony to the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission, the first Moon landing, in 1969."
Thanks for mentioning this ;-)
Ask him if he has ever been there and if the moon is something you can land on and then watch his reaction ... All the lies in the world won't last much longer. Although you may stick to them, without any further interest in truth.
Oh, he's the one who's already dead.
Armstrong has not been to the Moon yet everyone can beam up a laser to the mirror Apollo 11 left there. Gotcha.
@@ksfromgermany2248 Life gets easier once you realize that no one cares about your prejudices. Your kind only seem to serve to insult the idea of theory.
Now I know why mom loved this song...This wonderful masterpiece give strength to brave big waves
***** Simply informing the person in a civil way would have done
***** Not everyone is informed on the way classical music works. Some people may just be dabbling in it for the first time and are used to the simple modern names for musical compositions. What you say to them may put them of the music altogether.
***** Yeah I agree not everyone can help ignorance. I would call it a song, even if it's a symphony, cause it's a piece of music xp no matter how great. Even if it doesn't do it justice, it's not insulting it either...
Roy Terada Exactly. Well said!
It is 11:30 PM right now. Sitting in the garden & sipping czech beer and listening to this master piece. Am I in heaven? ;-)
This has been my favorite piece for forever but this is by far my favorite performance of it I've seen. Wow.
It's amazing how Karajan control such a very dynamic piece.
Dang.... the VPO of the 1970s and 80s.... never has there been a better orchestra.
So freaking true to a point
2:40 "De acuerdo. Entonces, ese Crocodile... necesita una paliza!"
The best presentation of this most beautiful piece of music that I have heard to date. Capture this with the other two movements on other videos - nothing short of spectacular. I used to connect Karajan with just the Beethoven symphonies - not anymore!!
puboffender54 I fully agree. Everything is perfect...
He is one of the few conductors that nails every piece. He is good with Beethoven, Sibelius, Mozart, Strauss, and so many more composers. I think he was Sibelius's favorite conductor.
And still Karajan remains the best!
Stupenda, meravigliosa.
So BEAUTIFUL AND GLORIOUS!!!!
Classical music is from heaven.
I remember hearing this in some movie or cartoon I watched and I just want to remember without watching every single movie I have to figure it out.
Maravilloso¡¡¡
Beautiful music. I love it.
Play it again, and again... ;)
me too, usually back and forth between Gustavo Dudamel and Herbert VonKarajan
but I must recognize,, this one is better
What an amazing orchestra! Kultur of Europa lives forever.
Ah this brings back memories , I remember playing this back in my senior year of high school
Orchestra is leading conductor. Marvelous Orchestration!!
I have New World Symphony from Berliener Philharmoniker under Karajan's conducting (usualy, best New World Symphony record ever) in 96/24 FLAC format and with Audeze LCD2 headphones there is absolutely amazing...
Love the cello section :'D
This little pause at 0:12 is incredible. He is the only one i saw who is making a little break between these two notes.
And it sounds better in my opinion.

I was listening it on the day my son was born
The perfection
this one feels a bit darker than any other i heard but maybe its just me
I'd say it's all up to individual interpretation but I definitely don't get a "dark" vibe from this per say... It's like a very extravagant, intense adventure that kind of ebbs and flows but gets really intense at certain points. My interpretation at least :)
+KeiyaValecourt That's how I feel about it too tol!
It sounds more like an adventure against something dark in nature to me.
+Kroatowa yes, perfect explanation :) The sole reason I love classical music, tells such an intricate story without the use of words
I agree with you. That's Karajan style : sublime, i.e. sub-limes, right under the utmost limit of beauty.
The whole video darker then most I guess they don’t believe in lamps
Apología a la fuerza, elogia a la voluntad.
:O omg soooooo awesome
great👍
i love the lil woodwind thing at 1:25 .
If you like that you’d really like Faure’s Pelleas et Melisande. They do exactly that in the second movement

Everyone here involved knows his job very well. You can see von Karajan having a hard time with his bad back, strugling mightly to direct the brass,, but the Philarmoniker knows him so well that it does not impact the performance. If I'm not mistaken, this performance is from 1989 or 1988, months before the old gentleman kicked the bucket.
Say what you want but as a French guy from a minority, I outright refuse to think that this guy, has in fine, anything to do with the Nazi ideology. And it is the same for Richard Wagner.
