I mean a non believer has no moral obligation where a Christian who believes in a moral God does. This of course doesn’t guarantee that the Christian will do the right thing after all we have the freedom of choice. But hopefully you see my point a Christian is more likely to because they are taught and believe they should where an atheist doesn’t.

We have stories in hindu mythology where a diety himself says a common man adhering to his principles is more dear to him than a priest chanting his name all day. Skyrim Guard yea but religion is bullshit, so when bullshit affects ur voting (typically republican puppets) then there's a problem, and look at countries where women aren't allowed at school because of "religion". Sorry my inner Bill Maher came out.

Newvials A lot of things in life are bullshit. Tribalism is bullshit. Self destructive selfishness is bullshit. If you got upset about all the bullshit in life, you'd be constantly upset.
I'm an atheist, but quite honestly I don't care what people's religion are. People are religious because of how it makes them feel. Emotions, by their nature, are irrational. I'd much rather have a tolerant and peaceful society of multiple different beliefs than a society that is basically the same but everybody's an atheist.
The problem in those countries where women have restricted rights isn't just religion, but the culture of those places. How you interpret and apply your religion is highly dependent on the culture of your society. That's why a Christian in say, Germany, likely has far more liberal and progressive interpretations of the Bible than a Christian in Uganda.
Also I think the idea that we must "wage a war" against religion is inherently counter-productive. People will cling to their religion, and if they feel like it's being attacked, they will stick to their religious beliefs (remember, you're literally attacking the thing they hold most sacred in their life).
It's far better to criticize the negative teachings of a person's religion, than to criticize the religion as a whole. People are willing to shun the negative attributes of a religion as long as you can convince them that the negative attributes of said religion are not something that should be part of their religion.
For example, there are many gay Christians. That's because those Christians believe that Jesus emphasized love, not damning people to hell. You can say that the Bible condemns homosexuality, but that's not how they view it. They view that in the Bible that there are some teachings that are more important than others, and therefore they will emphasize those instead of the negative ones.
I like Bill Maher, but honestly I think people like him and other Neo-Atheists who have an obsession with fighting against the entirety of religion are largely wasting their time and might even be counter-productive.
Which sounds more easier for a Muslim in Saudi Arabia to accept? That his religion is a total sham or that Allah's teachings emphasized respecting women, not oppressing them? The answer is clearly the latter.

There is a biased in certain occupations. I am a funeral director/embalmer and I pretty much have to pretend to be christian to not only get hired but also to the families I serve. If they found out you were atheist....many actually automatically presume that you are amoral and couldn't be trusted to handle the remains of their loved one in a dignified way nor could you be trusted to handle something as sacred as funeral services. Little do they know the owner who not only goes to church every Sunday but he also charges them a 6X markup when they purchase a casket and takes advantage of their grief in every way they can. I have seen some funeral directors and embalmers be pretty disrespectful to a dead human body and they were all "christians." I ACTUALLY got into the profession because I know how horrible grieving a loss can be and I am ACTUALLY passionate about doing everything I possibly can to be there for them and make the experience as meaningful as I can. Plenty of the "christians" (I am not saying all) get into it claiming it is in order to do "god's work" and they are very disrespectful and very selfish even at times in terms of not being willing to go that extra mile for people because they don't want to give up too much of their time. It is kind of like how some whites think all black people are inherently bad when you think about it.....atheists get the same unfounded and ignorant kind of generalization thrown at them! Here is a generalization for you....PEOPLE ARE JUST DICKS! PERIOD!

Rick Pierce We Atheists face the same risks as LBGT individuals had to face in the past(at least racial minorities knew they could count on their own family's love & respect). Being openly secular is only advocating for what is already in our Constitution, a separation between church & state, as well as full equal rights for every US citizen, but even this could lose someone their job. An Atheist can lose all or some members of their family, lose friends & be blackballed from certain professions simply because we expect tangible evidence of reality. No one has yet produced scientific evidence that "God" exists. There is no evidence yet that ANYTHING more advanced or more intelligent than homosapiens exists anywhere, but we've all imagined that it is possible. Technically all atheists are agnostics becuz we are fully open to changing our conclusions if & when new evidence justifies this. Atheism should not scare anyone. There is nothing scary about the scientific method. Atheists don't believe in anything supernatural. That's all. American Atheists believe in the US constitution & obeying the secular laws of our community, including recognizing religious freedom. Nothing scary or threatening about that. If you feel u cannot safely express your atheism at least u can help to educate others about what Atheism is & what it is not.

Estefania, you want to be a deputy coroner. That is an interesting field also. The only recommendation I would make is make sure you try to get into that in a city or suburbs. Out in rural America it is usually only the county coroner who gets elected. If you want to work for a coroner or a medical examiner you go to more populated areas where they bring more people on. You could also run at some point for coroner. Coroners are in most counties. Some (like counties containing a big city like Chicago) have medical examiners were you would need to attend medical school. When progressives talk about keeping the movement going and getting involved in every part of government....the county coroner's/medical examiner's counts as well. Here is a potential reason why; when determining a cause of death a progressive will care more about victims rights for ALL people unlike a portion of conservatives unfortunately do.

It's kinda like that in nursing too. My school's chapter of the student nursing association begins every meeting with a prayer. Obviously I can't speak for every school's own chapter, but that's how it is here. It was one of a few reasons that I stopped attending the meetings. And then of course lots of patients are religious, and they automatically assume that you are too.

Unless you are a perfect human being, whatever that means, you should keep your lack of faith to yourself especially when you live in the south. Nobody will hire me, people talk behind my back, and people always say I am negative and argue a lot. I do not argue unless you press your religion on me and try and convert me. I am not negative, I live in reality. And lastly I am depressed because of the way I have been treated and grown up with people whispering behind my back and not choosing to be around me because I am rational and do not believe in fairy tales. I can definitely say there is persecution towards non believers especially in the deep south. I have lost jobs and friends and turned to drugs because I gave up and felt alone for so long. Everyone always says am too smart for my own good and I overthink things. I believe they underthink things.

Well, here's the problem I've noticed with Atheism/Agnosticism as someone who was Agnostic most my life until this year...
The idea that something is a fairy tale just because it can't be proved scientifically is simply false. Thinking that way is known as Scientism and it's actually a self-refuting philosophy.
Here's why it's self-refuting: The claim *Truth can only be known if it's scientifically verified* cannot be scientifically verified.
That's it. That alone tells you it's self-refuting. Anyone arguing as if Scientism is true (Atheists do constantly without realizing it) has declared belief in a philosophy that philosophies can't be true, which is just self-refuting and false by necessity.
Theism (belief in God) is in, no way, comparable to believing a fairy tale.
There are tons and TONS of rational reasons to believe in a creator. There are well over 100 logically valid, sound arguments for Theism known in academia.
And valid arguments like that are the only kind of evidence that can be rationally expected for a philosophical position beyond the scope of scientific inquiry like Theism.
Atheism, on the other hand? It has none.

    • @lightbeforethetunnel
      @lightbeforethetunnel 2 года назад

It's actually not true that Theism has the burden of proof and Atheism doesn't.
Both positions hold an equal burden of proof. That's because it's a debate between two philosophical positions, both of which are beyond the scope of scientific inquiry.
So you can only go by logically valid, sound argumentation. And there are well over 100 of those for Theism known in academia. Atheism doesn't have any.

People talking about meaning and why they choose to live their lives the way they do is never going away. People's private views influence others' external world. "Respecting others views" is willing to listen. Listening means caring about the reasoning of an individual, not just the outcome of that reasoning. Respect required dialogue both ways. Every rational person knows this, and over time this respect is happening more. This new respect is why religious numbers are falling and why in 50 years politicians will not be voicing that they are religious instead of the current fear of losing votes by being truthful in that they don't believe. Look at the numbers, thankfully change that takes time is happening.

Atheism is one of the most religious group of people we've ever heard of. They all believe the same thing. Even though they don't tend to a specific location doesn't mean they're not religious. They are one of the biggest religions in the world because all of them focus on one fact and they're all mines even though it's nothing but disbelief that there is no god. If you meet an atheist they talk about it all day long. They are determined to prove there is no God even though they cannot. The creation that we live in everything declares there is a god. Even if they don't know who the God is they have to admit there is a God but they would rather say there is not. But all atheists respond the same way. That is definitely a religion just because they don't worship specifically doesn't mean they don't have religious beliefs. They actually say that the Universe which is something that's created is a god. That doesn't make sense and they also say that they are gods that doesn't make sense either because if you are a God why do you have cancer. Why do you have hiv. Why do you have a cold. Anyway

It generated a total of 17.5 million jobs (2nd most of any president in history after Bill Clinton) and saved your economy from the second biggest crash since the Great Depression that happened under Bush''s reign.

He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Knowledge [throne] extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Quran 2. 255 please study Islam .....

I can say that I am a victim of religious harassment. Once I was asked by a co-worker if I believe in his God. When I replied no, I was instantly chastised and criticized by nearly everyone in the building. Shortly after I received several invitations to join their churches. But they were drawn ablank when asked this question; If God is omniscient and created everything, why did he create me, knowing I would be an atheist, and then send me to hell for not believing in him?

Ask them if they take Jesus seriously.
Ask them if they are willing to let him speak for himself.
Point out “judge not” and “love your enemies.”
Show how Christians abet this nation’s foreign policy by being committed to stoke their revenge fantasies and kill others.

Invisible Drummer Thats the point. If, God apparently will punish non believers, why give them the free will to use as an ability to choose non belief? Its like giving terrorists ammunition but saying please don't use it.

@Stephen Vierling God does not listen to the unbelievers prayers. Because they do not love God first today forever.
Even Christ Jesus told people there going to burn in hell forever and ever. Because they don't love God first today forever.
God made the big bang that you atheists love so much. And God made evolution that you atheists love so much. You atheists love denying it.
God has no love for thoses who die an atheist. God has no love for those who die loveing porn more than God. You do not understand that God is a Jealous God. God hates atheists so much and every person that loves them self to much. That God made a hell because God hates them so much.
And everyone who does not love God first today forever is going to be thrown into hell to burn for all of eternity. You say you want to burn in hell for all of eternity but on judgment day from God. You will be begging God and crying to God not to throw you into hell. But God will tell you it is to late. You choose to burn in hell for all of eternity.
Mary is still dead waiting to go to heaven. Mary is still dead. There is no verse that says Mary instantly went to heaven. Those who do get to heaven on judgment day from God become saints for God. Not angels. Stupid jehovas witness. You make people burn in hell! for all of eternity! with you're fake! jehovas witness religon. You jehovas witness have a bad version book that is so fake. Read the orginal book. The orginal book. Says hell is forever. Says the fire in hell is never turned down. It says the atheists that did not love God first and those who did not love God first are all thrown into hell to burn for all of eternity. Because they did not love God first today forever. Most people burn in hell for all of eternity.
You jews religon is false. Even God hates most jews and muslims. Because jews and muslims both false religon of being a good person makes you go to heaven. Only loving God first today forever makes you go to heaven. And not everyone loves God first today forever. Meaning God throws most people into hell to burn for all of eternity. With the demons to torment them in hell forever. There is no verse that says the orthodox who die instantly go to heaven. There is only one God. A God is not going to make gods. Dumb mormons.
There is only one God and there are no gods beside him. Love God first today forever. God is the creator of the universe. Love God first today forever and you will be saved. Blessed is the one who has not seen and beileves in God. And God throws atheists into hell to burn forever. Because they did not love God first.
God allowed demons to be born. Demons are from the creation of God. And God makes the demons work in hell to tormnet and hurt you atheists forever and ever in hell. You atheists are going to grind and knash you're teeth in hell forever. After a thousand years of burning in hell. It is only the beginning.
Everybody knows who God is on judgment day from God. The name of God is known. On judgment day from God. You will see that God has 1 hole in his left and right hand. And 1 hole in his right and left foot. Because God let himself be put on cross to show you that there is no greater love than him. Love God first and love Christ Jesus first today forever. Because Christ Jesus was God in the flesh with the holy spirit it's 3 in one. Love God first today forever so you don't burn in hell forever and ever. And Love God first today forever so you aren't tormented by demons in hell forever.
But you will most likely burn in hell forever and ever. Because you don't love God/Christ Jesus first today forever.
