    It’s one of the biggest things that tricked me, the fear of withdrawal! It’s one of the reasons so many people can’t stop because they are scared! Needed to hear this video! Thanks kevin

      @@HabitsV2 100 percent, there is very few channels, if any that I have found who is putting out this message, although doctors advice is important, this needs to be heard. Too much fear is put out with withdrawal. I speak from a very deep personal experience with this. 🙏🏻

    I love this! For years I've used withdrawal as an excuse to keep drinking. Realizing how tiny the risk is completely destroys that excuse. I'm excited to actually experience the withdrawal.
    I don't know if you've read any of Allen Carr's books about alcohol but he also mentions how cravings are not even that big of a deal. It's like being a little bit hungry for a bit, and then it goes away and comes back, getting smaller each time. That's easy. Thanks for the video.

    Drank a 12 pack of white claws/beer per day for a long time. Other than sleeping disruptions which slowly got better over time, the only serious symptom of withdrawal was I would get an alert on my Apple Watch that my resting heart rate was over 120 bpm. It is only on the first night of quitting. Another thing I noticed was many mood swings early on which got better over time. It seemed to me that my brain chemistry was getting sorted out and back into balance. Trust me, these symptoms pale in comparison to hangovers and depression from drinking.

      Thank you! That's my story also! Drank 8-10 bud lights for 7 years and switched to white claw a year ago. I lost 25 lbs when I switched but I am 40 and need to make some major changes in my life/health.

    So a few things. First of all, alcohol withdrawal definitely exists and can be very serious and deadly. That is true, I've seen if first hand in my years working in the ED. If someone wants to withdraw, they can try tapering at home. That does work very well for some people. But patients also need to know the symptoms of withdrawal, especially withdrawal that is becoming more severe. Severe alcohol withdrawal is a medical emergency and needs rapid medical attention. This is especially true since many alcoholics going into withdrawal already have electrolyte imbalances or abnormalities that can combine with withdrawal to create a dangerous situation. So yes, detox at home, but do so with a family member or friend who can call 911 if your withdrawal becomes severe and go to the hospital. I've seen all types of withdrawal working in the ED. Some we manage very easily with nothing more than monitoring. I've also seen a withdrawal case that came in with DT's, went into vtach and coded within the first ten minutes of arrival (I had just finished hooking up the ECG). It can be very dangerous, but that shouldn't put you off from quitting. Just do it safely.

      This comment right here is the one. I'm 23 and went through severe withdraw was drinking everyday for years. Tried to cut cold turkey and had muscle spasms so severe idk how to explain it but if I try I'd say felt like I was awake during a sizeure or like my whole entire body all muscles locked and lightened uncontrollably. It hurts feels like your bones are gonna break themself. Your face distortes it's not fun. There is real actually danger for people. Without the hospital idk what would have happened. I encourage anyone who struggles and wants to stop to try and talk to people find a good plan to ease off be dedicated and motivated. We all deserve another chance 🤍

    Your wisdom outstrips most medical models. If people can withdraw at home by tapering off alcohol why do they need to load them up with opioids. You hit it Kevin. Dollars.

      Where do they give opioid?!!

    • @jjchaos2024
      @jjchaos2024 Год назад

      Alcohol withdrawal has nothing to do with opioids.. If a doctor prescribe opioids for Alcohol Withdrawal, they should have their license pulled. Benzodiazepines are the first agent in targeting and saving people’s lives from withdrawal. I’ve been through it many times.

    I had mild symptoms, insomnia mainly, after 3 plus decades of drinking 16-18 beers/day. I was afraid to withdraw, because of the fear. But, I decided to do sober October and approaching day 3. No cravings at all. Blessed.

    Off and on for months I have been watching videos on quitting alcohol. The people's experiences ranged from "nothing to it" to hallucinations and seizures. I have been scared as hell to quit drinking. I would consider myself a fairly heavy drinker at 6-8 pints a day during the week and 12 or more on the weekends, so I have no idea what to expect. Today is my second day without alcohol. I still had the dry heaves when I woke up this morning as if I had been drinking, but they were not as severe and didn't last as long. As I write this mid-day I feel pretty good; a bit jittery but that could be from the second big mug of coffee. They say it takes 72 or more hours to detox so we'll see what the next couple of days brings.
    On a side note: It's good to know that we are more likely to die from getting drunk and falling to our death than dying from quitting alcohol.

    Last night has been the worst for me after day 2 of zero alcohol, chest pain , head pain, crippling anxiety and the mother of all panic attacks at 3.55am, it lasted a mind numbing hour, actually thought it was the end. I've made it to work this morning but I'm teetering on the edge of a full on meltdown. I feel a bit pathetic to be honest

    It is very true that one should detox from heavy drinking in a medical setting. Seizures are very possible for heavy routine drinking. I do not recommend detoxing solo.

    • @HabitsV2
      @HabitsV2  2 года назад +7

      If you have any fear, visit a doctor and let them tell you if you need medical detox. The vast majority of people do not. Do not let any Internet warriors advise you on your medical matters. They have no skin in your game, either way.

      Problem is it takes ages to be approved for detox without paying for it. Systems messed up.

      I’m a little over 5 months sober and I checked into detox with a 15 to 24 cans of regular beer a day habit. I did so because I wasn’t afraid of dying if I went solo but because the fear of a seizure. That’s a real consideration for heavy problem drinkers. The medical staff can taper you off a benzodiazepine or Valium and make immediate relapse less likely. I just knew I had to break the cycle by being away 5 days. I would always drink again because of the anxiety produced after 12 or so hours after my last drink.

    I’ve seen my daughter have severe seizures while in alcohol withdrawal. Risk is real and it’s hard to know who will suffer from seizures or DTs.

    • @HabitsV2
      @HabitsV2  10 месяцев назад

      Most of the time, it's a combination of factors.... drink history being a big one, previous seizures... I know this is personal to you, but seizures are extremely rare... they are so rare it's difficult to get any concrete figures.

    I have to say thus because there's no videos or information backing up what I'm about to say but maybe this helps. I've been heavily drinking for about the last year and I mean heavy everyday to the point I got beat up severely twice and countless blackouts it's like I have a death wish when I drink but I look forward to it every night after work. Last week on Friday about to be a full week a good friend had some tough but motivating words to me enough to make me pass on drinking that night. It was tough but made it 3 full days without a drink. The 3rd day right before bed I gave up went to the liquor store drank a whole bottle of Jameson blacked out. Last night freaked me out I drank another bottle of Jameson and I'm not sure if it was a dream or not but I remember opening and slamming my heavy front door like 3 or 4 times in a rage because my roommate loves slamming the door and I hate the negative energy that it brings. I always soak up the energies of people around me so if I'm living with toxic and negative people it makes me negative and toxic. I brought this up to him but he keeps doing it and it's woken me up out of good dreams before because it sounds like a bomb when someone slams this door. Problem is I live in a safe haven for veterans this is not my true home so I've been walking around here nervous hoping I didn't rage slam the door last night and it was just a drunk dream. The point is coming soon sorry for the long story. I ordered some testosterone supplements and they came in last night which I planned to get because my drinking addiction 1caused me to lose a lot of energy and my o1wn experience with using those pills when I used to work out made me comfortable giving them another shot. Something odd has happened though...today I have 0 DESIRE to drink. I put that in all caps because yea I was clean for 3 days but everyday I thought about it and really wanted it. Since I've been reading and hearing stuff about alcohol lowering testosterone I wonder if there's a correlation between testosterone therapy and alcohol withdrawal. Because I really am not withdrawing. It's like when I was addicted to herion( yes I have a long addiction history) I got suboxone and the next day I had 0 DESIRE for herion and it's almost been 2 years and still no desire for it. I wonder if someday they'll discover at least for males testosterone therapy may be a useful means to curb and eliminate alcohol withdrawal. I don't believe anyone has ever conducted any analysis on it to prove or disprove it yet as I'm currently researching why all a sudden I don't have any itch for a drink it's crazy to me

    Very good video. But I usually train extremely hard, no hard training, and walk, like 20 hours, without alcohol. Because I have such anxiety. And then when I finally fall asleep, I think the pain in my body, so to speak, turns up the volume into hell and beyond. Pain in the body affects everything in the dream. Lately these dreams have also included music. Very high volume, and the same "song" on repeat. The pace of the dream is very fast.

      8-10 drinks a day is not really that heavy. Normally, people would have very mild withdrawals in this situation.
