I just climbed my first V8 in the gym yesterday. And thanks to your videos, Erik Karlsson, & Bouldering Bobat, I'm always motivated to keep improving. Much love from the US.
Louis is so good at reading routes quickly and explaining his thought process consicely at the same time. No wonder his movement is so confident and fluid!
One recommendation, from someone who enjoy the channel, is that you could film the upper holds when Louis is talking about those final moves and that way we could see what he's talking about instead of looking at him talking. thanks!
Great video, Andrew! I have a suggestion: I think you could improve the exposure settings when filming against a bright window. Looks like you are using "continous auto exposure" (CAE). I suggest you deactivate CAE and leave it at "manual exposure time". Then you can press "one time auto exposure" (OTAE) once filming against a wall and keep the wall good looking all the video even when filming against a window. The windows then will be probably overexposed, but usually for indoor bouldering that does not matter since everything inside will still be crisp and clear. Best wishes!
Louis is just the most likeable guy ive ever seen. Such a sincere dude. ive been climbing for about 3 months now so most of the ppl at my climbing centre are much better than me. On monday there was a guy i was talking to who was a good climber but arrogant af. Louis is better than almost everyone but u never get the feeling hes talking down on ppl. And his fluid climbing style always looks like gravity is not a thing in his gym.
wow you are so good! i started rock climbing about 3 years ago, and i’m really only at the flashing grade of a V3, but i’m hoping to get as good as you and your friends one day!
I love coming back to these videos even as I get better and better. I climbed my first v9 two days ago and in 10 months of climbing at that. Without all of the information and tips and such that I get out of these videos, I don't think that ever would have been possible. Thank you guys for all the amazing content and please keep it coming!!
Cool video! Great way to study. Would be so helpful to have the visual context of seeing the entire route, especially with a Louis in frame for scale, before he launches into describing his battle plan.
"Isn't that climbing? You work a problem to death. You figure out the micro beta and it feels... easier" - Andrew MacFarlane 2019 Put that on a shirt. I would buy it.
Would be interested to see some of Louis' training off the wall... For example what is his daily training routine to build strength? Pull ups, hang board, campus board, weights, etc.?
Don't do this to us Sam... gonna make us go back! Funny cause Louis thought there were 5 so we looked around and only saw 4, then we asked the staff who 'confirmed' there were only 4. Regardless, great sets- great session.
I saw the first flash. You are mad. Wonderful. Umm don't mind the product placement for 'Climbing Skin' or whatever that junk is. Honestly I'm just looking for alternatives to supergluing my hands.
Hi Louis ! Go a question on the La Sportiva Skwarma. I'm looking at buying them as it seems they are very good shoes and better for someone with a wider foot like myself. I normally wear a size 8(42 ) street shoe. How much do you think I should go down in size ? How much do they stretch ?
Hi Wian! If it helps I've been wearing La Sportiva for years and I go down 2.5 sizes, but getting the right fit for comfort can be very individualistic. La Sportiva shoes will need to be sized down where as brands like Evolv tend to match your street shoe. If you can try a pair on before you buy then I'd recommend doing that. If you can't then go a couple sizes down. Check 'How To Choose Your Climbing Shoes' by La Sportiva on RUclips if you need more help with it. Good luck 👍
@@AndrewMacFarlane Thanks I tried 41 and thought I got it on just too easily, they didn't have 40 in stock so I could not try it but I think you answered my question size wise.
I started with my toddler maybe two weeks ago. I already get what he’s saying, you pick it up that quickly. Once you get on a wall or two, you’ll understand what he’s referring to. It’s harder to grasp if you haven’t done it yourself.
Finn V I never even thought of that, I scrolled back up to reread the title after reading your comment 🤦🏼♀️ Either way he’s having a good time I suppose 🤷🏼♀️
@drew13600climbers do not want proportionate muscles. Muscles not actively involved in climbing hinder you. Steroids would make climbers too muscular. As well as the fact that while steroids may help in gaining muscle tissue and muscular strength, they do not assist in tendon strength. After a certain point of muscular strength, technique and tendon strength take over. I know plenty of guys thst are natural and as physically fit strength and cardio wise as Adam Ondra. They climb V10-12. None of them can match his sheer technique, eye for the route, and tendon strength.
@@morgydee i've tried them all and i can say for certain the second one is very hard and the roof one is very very hard. the undercut one is also very hard

“Oh thats a jug”😂
Was actually a jug, but not that big
maybe its in cut
howling at this comment 😂

félix Carrier yeah that was annoying me through out th video
seriously. No one gives a damn about your adam ondraesque air grab beta symphony. just show us the damn route.
What a joy to watch that guy climb. And hear him talk.

Alternate title: Louis Parkinson making V9+’s look like V3’s.
NatashaXMarvel I struggle on v3 leave me alone
PHOENIX don’t worry I struggle on v2s and v3s
I can't even do V2s lol

Those look ridiculously hard! Always fun to watch a good climber top tough stuff
I knew there was gonna be an excuse related to the shoes from the beginning...
love Louis, give that man hug from me!
Oh how I missed Louis videos!
Really like Louis talking about his thought process. Thanks for the awesome content!
Love this guy. So strong.

really like the analysis/route-reading!

Bit loath to say this because you climbed so well, but there were 5.

Andrew MacFarlane oh there’s always a chance one of them has been taken down already. If so then that one was definitely the best one.
It's impressive how strong one can become. Would love to climb on a similar level.
Sure you can become strong but that level is really high, I think body type /genetics/talent play a significant role
Just climbed my first ever V3 yesterday.
So happy there’s a new video!! Been binge watching the old ones to get my Louis x Andrew fix lol
such a sick climber!

I met Louis a couple times really nice guy
It
You should come try the local gym i go in the Netherlands. It is a very nice climbing gym with lots of routes. Impact bouldering it is called.
'it's very steep.' 🤣
Great video!
Louis is a beast
thanks for coming to Cov Louis !
What a beast!
hands down your best video, it's super clear how he thinks about climbing
Not only is Louis ridiculously good but I like his style of climbing.
And his hair is on point
Beautifull boulder problems

There is hope for me!!!
awesome stuff!!
does anyone know what the song is at 14:02?
Edit: Never mind, I found it: "Never Backing Down" by Tim Halperin
Love watching louie climb, cant wait to see more videos
Louis videos best videos
Yeah sure that's a jug 11:36

How tall Louis?
whats the song that starts at 14:00?
I think its called never backing down by tim Halperin. But i can't find the song anywhere that i can buy.
finally a video at arch north
Nice video!
i swear the video's sped up with louis talking so fast
Love when he’s describing the climb and we can just see the holds he’s already talked about
what is the song that starts at 13:39? I know I've heard it before, can't find it though. Shazam didn't pick it up either.
Never Backing Down by Tim Halperin 👊🏻
@@AndrewMacFarlane i cant buy it anywhere. Where can i download it?
Hi May I ask where this gym is?
Arch North in London
So uuuuhhh... that song at the end? Yeah, what is that called exactly?
Should be 'On The Mountain By The Sea' by Utah
@@AndrewMacFarlane You're a god amongst men.
Top lad that!
Since when can you touch all the holds and still count it as a flash? I have never heard that to be the case either inside or out
As somebody who doesn't rockclimb I have no idea what he's saying whe talks strategies
Brooks Andrew After taking up the sport you catch onto the terminology pretty quickly.
Brooks get up to your local rock formation Labor day weekend

Speaking of product placement, what shorts is Louis wearing?!
Magnifiques voies
Is doping an issue in climbing?
Great stuff... looks easy, but I know, it isn't!
.
Jonnes __ only in the olympics! Many climbers might not dope to help their climbing abilities, but a lot of them smoke weed 🤷🏻♂️
There was a meth issue in Yosemite at one point

everyone likes to have an active root, no one likes a starfish.
Is Louis going to try going to the olympics?
i dont think hes much of an all rounder. hopefully next olympics they will split climbing into individual disciplines
Were those really even v9 tho
the one on the island isn't a v9 but the other 3 are certainly v9 or harder. Louis just makes them look easy because he's ridiculously strong
Tbh I think that the last 2 were much closer to a v9 but even then still looked pretty soft
@@morgydee i've tried them all and i can say for certain the second one is very hard and the roof one is very very hard. the undercut one is also very hard
Hmm. Flash? Are you allowed to touch the holds before going for it?
These boulders are absurd.
If he'd had more Active Root he would have flashed the set :)
