Castleberry Hill is the Largest Neighborhood of Black Land Owners and Entrepreneurs
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 17 июн 2021
- “Start Your Day” correspondent Aiyana Cristal takes viewers inside this community that sits right next to downtown Atlanta with the largest population of Black land owners and entrepreneurs in the country.
The community is named after a young merchant who went by Daniel Castleberry, but in the 1800’s it was called Snake Nation. Herman J. Russell was responsible for transforming the area with one of the most profitable minority owned empires. The Atlanta businessman inspired other Black entrepreneurs to invest in Castleberry Hill. With so many areas in Atlanta gentrifying, Black business owners are determined not to leave Castleberry Hill or sell their property.
All this and more on “Start Your Day.”

The only business left that Castleberry Hill NEEDS is a Firearm/Gun Dealer and Gun range owned by black Americans

Don't forget the Beckies.
Quiet as its kept, there are other pockets of black entrepreneurship all over the country, not to this extent, but the potential is there. We are much greater than they make us out to be, and that's what scares them.

I was a police officer in Atlanta. I worked at Spelman College and it was very good neighborhood. The restaurants and bars in Castleberry Hill were always popular.
This needs to be done in every state, every city everywhere!
Every US BLACK METROPOLIS CITY
Yes i agree
Agreed!
You are right!! An actual town and not just a community or neighborhood
What need to be done? All they showed you was a damn barbershop. Every black community has a barbershop. This story is complete fabrication. There are no damn thriving Black businesses in Castleberry.
Castleberry shouldn't be a issue.....if Asians and others can do it.
Yup, been saying that for years. Koreans and latinos. have been doing it.
Exactly
@Richer p. Sickert Blacks have done it. Are you not aware of the history?!
@@renecurry6551 yes I farted .
@Richer p Sickert.
I live in the Berkley Park/Underwood Hills section of NW Atlanta, and the story is a bit misleading. The area has long had a high population of Blacks, and is within the vicinity of Morris Brown, Morehouse, Spellman, and Clark Atlanta. Even dating back to the 70's, when I was a little kid in NYC, I had heard attendees of those schools were disappointed that famed HBCUs like Morehouse and Spellman were located in one of Atlanta's ghettos. Photos online give a false impression of the area, because it's still a social-economic struggling area.
Due to it's high Black population, it's a given it would also rank high in entrepreneurial and Black land/home ownership. The header reads, "this community that sits right next to downtown Atlanta", but what was not discussed is the crime rate is still high in that area, school conditions and achievement are subpar, living conditions are still below that of other parts of Atlanta, and notably gentrification stops west of Ted Turner Dr. SW.. There is a reason why parts of The Walking Dead was filmed back their, because more than a few areas did not need much alteration to fit a deserted city caused by a zombie apocalypse.
It's a feel good segment and left a lot out to achieve it's objective.
May God protect them all!! Never forget the Elaine, Arkansas massacre!!
Atlanta has its own...but the sentiment is fact. Its ridiculous that my thoughts as I watched this were to pray and hope they are prepared bc financial institutions are now on notice too.
Serious observation.

I've been aware of the Castleberry Hill area for years. I remember Black folks talked down on it and said it was trash. This is. before rappers like 2chainz and others started opening up restaurants and bars in the area. I remember Black folks used to tell me to stay away from that area. I always loved the area because of the industrial look, murals, and art. A dear friend of mine used to have a nice loft there. It's really been growing in the past couple of years. I hope it doesn't lose its edgy but vibrant soul. I'm all for growth but I love it the way it is. Great content.
Castlberry Hill could use some protection like an armory or a full service Gun Store with a tactical Gallery. Also a hospital a trauma level clinic at the very least. Im going to research this community!
