Bought this lens when I got my Zfc; one of the best lens purchases I've done in a while. Especially on a full-frame body like Zf and Z5 this lens really shines. I love its look, and framing is so much easier at this focal length. I'm keeping it.
If you can get a defective FTZ adapter or other Z lens you can use the metal plate of it to replace the plastic one. It's not difficult. The greatest problem is to get one 😊
Thank you! I don't remember if there is a 40mm F/2 DX lens for F-mount cameras. I know there is a 40mm F/2.8 Micro lens. If that (40mm F/2.8 AFS DX Micro) lens is what you're talking about, it's a solid lens, especially for what they selling for now...it is a spectacular lens that most DX photographers are sleeping on, especially for the price and especially if they're looking for a neat Micro/Macro lens.
@@BoostLeekdMedia Yes, that's the lens. I don't own it and was thinking of buying it. I didn't know that it was a macro. I saw it and then researched it and saw your video, as always, you're there each time I'm researching something.... Great video brother
I mean, if people want lenses not to be too heavy, plastic is the best option, plus this is not any plastic, it is high quality plastic. The photos were beautiful.
I bought it and returned it, I much prefer the older AFS 50mm f/1.8, It's much better in IQ, but I see the appeal of the 40 for size/weight and video performance. The humble 50mm AFS is so cheap used, and it's a really impressive lens - even wide open if you nail focus. At 2.8 it's really sharp.
Oh yeah, the used 50 1.8G AFS lenses are so cheap now. I would definitely rock that lens over the 40 F/2 if money was a huge factor. Thanks for sharing!
Low element count primes will always have superior micro-contrast and life like rendering. The more glass elements in the lens the more the light is processed, rendering flat lifeless images. Compare simple primes vs zooms.
I'm assuming you have the 1.8S for the Z? If so, I don't think it's worth picking up the 40 F2 unless you REALLY like the 40mm focal length. The 40mm focal length isn't close to the 50 but it's a sweet spot between a 35mm and 50mm focal length.
Haha! I will agree with you on that one. I swear, when it was released, it was right under $300USD as well. Now with Nikon raising the prices, there are some lenses that are better from 3rd party lens manufacturers.
Overrated. Depends what you are used to though. I had the 35 50 85 1.8 s before getting it. Wasn’t impressed. Sold it. For small I have the 26, better than the 40, weather sealed, metal mount.

Thanks for sharing! For the price, it's hard to beat. I really like how 'light' and portable it is too. I had it on my Z50 and REALLY enjoyed it.
I looked at photos with this lens on Flicker and they were fantastic. Sharp and great rendering.
Good to know! It's definitely a very nice lens, especially on the Z bodies.

Solid tip!!
really good Microcontrast, absolutely a bargain, cannot find it in lots of more expensive Sony/Fuji lens
Another great review brother, how would you compare this to the DX F mount lens?

I have this lens with my Z5 and shoot it with a Moment Cinebloom 10% filter. Definitely a fun lens.
Nice! I really need to get me one of those filters. Thanks for sharing!
Do you still use z5 with this lens ?
@@fangli yeah, as of lately I've been using it a lot.

Thank you! And I totally agree. Plus, plastic doesn't rust ;)
I have, and I love it

Lens is plenty sharp with good micro contrast
good review but didn't you notice that weird reflector reflection in your glasses?
Thanks! I didn't notice it through my view but as I was editing this video, I did notice it.

Oh! Primes vs Zooms. Definitely doing that one. And, now that you said that, I can totally see what you mean. Thank you for sharing!
If I already have the 50mm f1.8 (which I love) do you think the 40 is still worth picking up?

@@BoostLeekdMedia You might prefer the 40 over the 50mm as a lightweight walkaround lens. I have it for the Z30 crop sensor camera.
Have one on my Z f and I think it's excellent - a bargain for the EUR179 I paid 2nd hand.
Nice! Great price you paid for the 40 F/2! Thanks for sharing!
The dynamic duo!
I love this lens
Came with my ZF love it 💯
Nice! It is one lens that I think is seriously under rated. Especially for the price.
i hope Canon make also RF 40mm 1.8 IS Micro 😊
The lens is underrated when I bought it around HKD 1400~1800, the lens is overrated if I bought it over HKD 2500.

Can I use 40mm lens with zfc camera
Yes you can. I use the 40mm F/2 on my Z50. I love how well balanced it feels on my Z50.

Oh! Good to know. I'm really considering the 26. Might sell my 28 for one!
The 26 is def the nicest of those. True pancake.
Great everyday lens - small, light, cheap and it renders image with its own character. Pleasure to use :D
Totally agree. Thanks for sharing :)
