A lot of people probably don't know this, but Jethro Tull started out as a blues band, their original name being "Bag of Blues". And if you listen to some of the early Tull albums, you will definitely hear the blues influence in songs like "A New Day Yesterday" and "Nothing is Easy"
Just like Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. A true blues band. The youngsters just know the girls and the modern Fleetwood Mac. RIP Peter Green. A great guitarist.
Holy Cow, I've been waiting for 30 years for Anderson and Abrams to play together again! When did this happen and is there more of it! The very first Tull album (This Was) was incredible - get it and listen. Everything after that was Pop. Abrams at least had some smokin hot licks in Bloodwynn Pig, but these guys were MUCH better together than apart. MORE, I want MORE! If they have a reunion I swear I'll sell my car to come over the pond and see them before I die!
Some Day the Sun Won't Shine for You, from their debut album This Was (1968). This is also the original Jethro Tull line-up, Ian Anderson of course, then Mick Abrahams, Glenn Cornick and Clive Bunker. Odd enough to see Ian and Glenn play together after what happened between them in 1970.
Great to see this. My favourite Tull albums are actually 'Stand Up' and 'Benefit', but 'This Was' was a great debut! My favourite song on that album is probably still "Beggars Farm".
Same here!! Stand up blew me away!! I actually heard it before this was! Love that Tull!! We saw them in 1972! My brother has seen them 8 times twice in Japan ! He said every single show was a killer!! 👏✌️🕊️
Well , we saw J. Tull on the 1st U.S. tour , Feb. 1969 . $ 5 ,Chicago. It was Tull , Led Zep , and headliners Vanilla Fudge. Martin Barre on guitar + flute. They played the bulk of " This Was " cause that s all they had out.
Hey gee thanks for posting this incredible blues number.Havent heard anything from Jethro Tull since the 70s. Tell me is it Ian Anderson on harp and not flute? Ive lost contact with so many great musicians, what with havin kids, back to nature and growing old. I luv it.
bout time jethro tull sing some blues see know this would have been awesome if they played nothing but the blues.. i guess they got tired of blowing on those flutes so they decided to play the harmonica and damn good at that awesome real musicians never seem to amaze me..
ian anderson es una maquina tambien con la armonica.... lastima que tenga pocas canciones con ella, que recuerde solo esta.. en una album, el bursting out creo, en directo es la leche. El guitarra de este video quien es? Martin Barre?
Wow! Thank u so much for posting this -- and if you (or anyone) could tell us which DVD this is, I'd much appreciate it. I'm guessing New Day Yesterday, or Living With the Past? Because, see, I want to BUY IT now, which I would not have otherwise. See, record co's, this is why you don't want to take down these posts: they don't COST U $, they MAKE U $!! (Apologies for shouting, but their self-defeating stupidity -- greed & selfishness that backfire -- is infuriating.)
Ian Anderson mentioned that he picked up flute since he could not play electric guitar like Clapton ( However I think IA is a super acoustic guitarist) . He could have also picked up the harmonica as the staple instrument instead of flute but had he done that, JT would have probably remained a good blues rock band without any traces of progressive or folk rock and that would be a colossal loss
Not so bad a blues, but I don't have the lightest idea about how it comes out when I search Jethro Tull music (¿?) Anyway... I'd have some beers with'em, they're fine.
wrong Ian Anderson This is not Jethro Tull !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there was two Ian Andersons Jethro Tull was a flutest and the other was a blues player harp and guitar thats who this is..Ian Anderson and the Country Blues Band
This is the original line-up of Jethro Tull: Ian on harp vocals, Mick Abrahams, guitar, Glenn Cornick, Bass, Clive Bunker, Drums. The point being they're back there in a pub gig where they started.
It was also on their first album released in the UK in 1968 under the title, "This Was", and featuring this line-up. Mick left the band before the second album.

Ademas de flauta Anderson es un músico genial que toca varios instrumentos pero
en todos ellos
es un virtuoso..!!
completa el trio de mejores blues escuchados en mi vida junto con roadhouse y dangerous mood., je..
Thanks for sharing!! Harmonica is in the key of C for those who are wondering.
Yes "C" is the key for the Harp but for those that don't know, what Chord is the song in? I know, do you?

Ian Henderson's Bag of Blues?
This is the first time I see Ian blowing a harp
He played harp before he took up flute.

drop the harmonica and get your flute back again
On this evidence he's lucky to have escaped his bedsit in Luton.

You are wrong, this song is from the album a little light music, Release date: 14. September 1992 (UK) and 22. September 1992 (USA) Saludos

my favorite band ever. this IS Jethro Tull Mark I- AND IT'S "FLAUTIST". BTW Ian Anderson can play ANYTHING
I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic and trying to make a point, or if you are really just mixed up.
