The worst part about this game being released is that they removed the original versions. That's the scummiest part about it. So now you have to buy this version, even if you'd rather not.
I fortunately have San Andreas and GTA III on PS4... but I didn't buy Vice City in time... the only consolation is that I have all the original copies on PS2, and Vice City has the complete soundtrack there, unlike the PS4 emulated version which they took down in October 2021

yeah, they took the buggy mobile/console port (remaster), and ported it back into pc (pc to mobile/console back to pc), and didn't change the old 32 bit code when everybody plays with 64bit, which caused tons of problems
Backlash does not matter if you already bought the game. The investors and shareholders are happy. This is done to get more people to buy the game if they didn't already. If you already bought the game, the business has your money already.
Truth as they have barely done anything for GTAIV on PC. It was broken for a few years, even today the frames drop for me. I play it on Xbox now. It's my favorite of them all.

Half-assed updates for sure. There’s still tons of bugs and glitches like the traffic lights and lamp posts with collision off. Not to mention they failed to fix the giant moving rooster sign in Bone County.
You know what I’m kind of sad that this game got the poor experience because it could’ve been a great opportunity to make a great remaster, but because of the time constraints of the executives and the lack of developers working on it it’s a very big disappointment

It’s sad how long it took them to do these bug fixes. For example, Sons of The Forest JUST came out and they already fixed 100s of bugs within 3 patches and they’ve made the game a much better experience within just a couple weeks

Let´s gonna be honest with something: At least GTA 3 and Vice City can be played in this trilogy with not many problems, San Andreas is the only thing you must not touch here.
This is true, I actually think 3 and VC look and play a bit better, minus some of the character models, SA isn't that good, but it is playable, if they sold this for $40 and gave it a few more months it could've been decent.
I still don't like how the remasters look. Even though the original graphics looked dated even for their time, they still had a special charm to them, so much so that if you modernize them they just don't feel right.
It's crazy Grove Street Games made such a terrible port of these games. They made the mobile versions, and unless they were under a serious time crunch (which according to them they were), these games should have been released with little to no bugs or glitches. I still don't understand why Rockstar pushed this out so early. It could have got released one year later and no one would care. There was a rumor GSG were gonna be brought in-house and work on Bully 2 had GTA trilogy been successful, but now that's never gonna happen.
For me being from that original generation of gamers who played these games when they were new, bugs were just a thing that we got on with in games that's how it was because games back then were rarely as polished as games nowadays and we just had fun with it... so for me if these remasters were totally polished it would take a lot away from what they were for me, they had their random cars dropping from the sky and other silly bugs and that's what I remember, it contributed to the fun lol
These games didn’t have these bugs to begin with on 6th gen. These are brand new bugs that ruin the experience and take away from the game more than they add.
I bought the games at launch, I enjoyed them. I don’t remember all these bugs and game breaking bugs that people spoke about. I only ever remember seeing bugs in San Andreas. I said it when the games released and I’ll say it now. People expected too much from it, they thought it was going to be on the scale of GTA V and when it wasn’t they were pissed. Are the games perfect? No. But what games are these days? Lots of games come out with bugs that need multiple patches to fix them, it’s just the way things are now and to be honest it’s not like the original games didn’t have flaws either, they did. They had they’re own bugs and problems as well. At the end of the day, I’m glad we have something of a remaster for these games because they deserved one. To me they still look good. I beat Vice City some months back and had a lot of fun playing it. Unpopular opinion, but this remaster was totally fine with me.
Am I the only one who wasn't bothered by the fact there was no fog in SA? I kind of enjoyed being able to see the whole map from Mount Chiliad. That said, games didn't release in a great state but they're still fully playable. I bought them around release and 100% all three games. Still fun.
It’s incredibly cool from a kind of behind the scenes perspective, but I think it makes you realize how small the world really is, instead of maintaining the illusion.

I think this game has come a long way. Since its release i think major improvements. When i got it on disc it was messed up like when it was digital release.
a few minor fixes ain't really a long way, these new versions haven't even started the journey to getting anywhere near good enough. each to their own ig, it's subjective and if you like it that's fine, but i think i speak for a lot of people when I say these "major" improvements aren't exactly winning anyone over. it's still the shittest way to play these games, and unless Rockstar actually take accountability, stop making excuses and put in the effort themselves with a proper team rather than handing it off to a miniscule development team who don't have the right resources, this trilogy ain't ever gonna be anywhere close to what we were promised. nothing against War Drum Studios/Grove St Games, they did the best they could, but Rockstar expecting a group of 20-something developers to handle this is plain ignorance and lack of care for their legacy material.
It's fixed some of the bugs yeah but to get anywhere near the level of the originals it's still got to get the atmosphere back, the numerous weather details, sound effects, pop in issues, draw distance and all the other small details that the originals had this took away

well mainly because Rockstar made a tiny dev team the head of a mammoth development task, didn't give them useful resources like access to RAGE or any sort of art directors/asset team. so a 20 person team were baso left by themselves to develop remasters for 3 fairly big open world games, and lacked the resources to do it right.

War Drum didn't have access to RAGE because it's Rockstar's engine and it's proprietary. so what is a 20 person dev team to do to make a "better" looking trilogy? use the engine that claims to be the best graphically, while being non proprietary: UE4.
I just purchased this for $18 and have to say that 3 and VC look and play decent, especially the new lightning effects do VC a big favor, haven't tried San Andreas yet, that's the one that I'm least excited to play, I prefer the OG in that case.

There’s no water animation at all. That’s the problem.
This is a shader / collisions sync issue, can be easily solved by turning off the waves, or syncing the collision with the texture of the shader

Let´s gonna be honest with something: At least GTA 3 and Vice City can be played in this trilogy with not many problems, San Andreas is the only thing you must not touch here.
This is true, I actually think 3 and VC look and play a bit better, minus some of the character models, SA isn't that good, but it is playable, if they sold this for $40 and gave it a few more months it could've been decent.

It's crazy Grove Street Games made such a terrible port of these games. They made the mobile versions, and unless they were under a serious time crunch (which according to them they were), these games should have been released with little to no bugs or glitches. I still don't understand why Rockstar pushed this out so early. It could have got released one year later and no one would care. There was a rumor GSG were gonna be brought in-house and work on Bully 2 had GTA trilogy been successful, but now that's never gonna happen.
For me being from that original generation of gamers who played these games when they were new, bugs were just a thing that we got on with in games that's how it was because games back then were rarely as polished as games nowadays and we just had fun with it... so for me if these remasters were totally polished it would take a lot away from what they were for me, they had their random cars dropping from the sky and other silly bugs and that's what I remember, it contributed to the fun lol

I bought the games at launch, I enjoyed them. I don’t remember all these bugs and game breaking bugs that people spoke about. I only ever remember seeing bugs in San Andreas. I said it when the games released and I’ll say it now. People expected too much from it, they thought it was going to be on the scale of GTA V and when it wasn’t they were pissed. Are the games perfect? No. But what games are these days? Lots of games come out with bugs that need multiple patches to fix them, it’s just the way things are now and to be honest it’s not like the original games didn’t have flaws either, they did. They had they’re own bugs and problems as well. At the end of the day, I’m glad we have something of a remaster for these games because they deserved one. To me they still look good. I beat Vice City some months back and had a lot of fun playing it. Unpopular opinion, but this remaster was totally fine with me.

I think this game has come a long way. Since its release i think major improvements. When i got it on disc it was messed up like when it was digital release.
a few minor fixes ain't really a long way, these new versions haven't even started the journey to getting anywhere near good enough. each to their own ig, it's subjective and if you like it that's fine, but i think i speak for a lot of people when I say these "major" improvements aren't exactly winning anyone over. it's still the shittest way to play these games, and unless Rockstar actually take accountability, stop making excuses and put in the effort themselves with a proper team rather than handing it off to a miniscule development team who don't have the right resources, this trilogy ain't ever gonna be anywhere close to what we were promised.
nothing against War Drum Studios/Grove St Games, they did the best they could, but Rockstar expecting a group of 20-something developers to handle this is plain ignorance and lack of care for their legacy material.
It's fixed some of the bugs yeah but to get anywhere near the level of the originals it's still got to get the atmosphere back, the numerous weather details, sound effects, pop in issues, draw distance and all the other small details that the originals had this took away

In general, in my opinion, it is the worst definitive edition that has ever been released for video games, for example, compare this game with the definitive version of Mafia, you will see a lot of difference, as if the creators of the definitive version of GTA are more concerned about their pockets than customer satisfaction.
well mainly because Rockstar made a tiny dev team the head of a mammoth development task, didn't give them useful resources like access to RAGE or any sort of art directors/asset team. so a 20 person team were baso left by themselves to develop remasters for 3 fairly big open world games, and lacked the resources to do it right.

War Drum didn't have access to RAGE because it's Rockstar's engine and it's proprietary. so what is a 20 person dev team to do to make a "better" looking trilogy? use the engine that claims to be the best graphically, while being non proprietary: UE4.

I just purchased this for $18 and have to say that 3 and VC look and play decent, especially the new lightning effects do VC a big favor, haven't tried San Andreas yet, that's the one that I'm least excited to play, I prefer the OG in that case.
