Hi. I'm Max Dalton, and in this video I'm going to talk through how to charge your JBL Flip 4 speaker.
The JBL Flip 4 speaker is a portable audio powerhouse that packs a healthy amount of punch for its small size. The speaker has an impressive battery life of roughly 12 hours, supports connecting multiple Bluetooth devices, can be connected to other JBL Bluetooth speakers, and is even waterproof. Charging your JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth speaker is a painless afair. All you need is a micro-USB cable and a good power source to connect the USB cable to.
Step 1. Locate the input cover on the back of the JBL Flip 4 speaker. The input cover appears to the right of the Power and Multi-Speaker Connect buttons, and says Flip 4 on it. Open the cover. This reveals inputs for a 3.5mm audio cable and a micro-USB cable.
Step 2. Connect the large end of the micro-USB cable to either a high-power USB port on your laptop or some other device, or to a USB power adapter that connects to a power outlet. Do not connect the cable to USB ports on a computer monitor, desk phone or other similar devices, as these are typically not high-power USB ports.
Step 3. Connect the small end of the micro-USB cable to the micro-USB input. The micro-USB input is the flatter of the two inputs. If you're having issues getting the cable you're using to connect, try using another micro-USB cable -- preferably the cable that came with the device. After the micro-USB cable is connected, you'll see the dots to the right of the Power icon light up to indicate the speaker's current charge level, and the final dot will be intermittently blinking. For example, if your battery has a low charge, you may see two lights light up, and the second one will be blinking. If no lights come on after connecting the micro-USB cable, connect the USB cable to a different power source. Alternatively, try a different micro-USB cable. The JBL Flip 4 speaker will be fully charged when all five dots to the right of the Power button are lit up and none of them are blinking.
Yeah I just charged it till lights all lite up and it only worked for about 3hrs. So for sure ya need to charge it for 24hrs before using it.
Very helpful video. I just started using the speaker in my workshops, connected by audio cable, not bluetooth. I noticed that the first time I used the speaker, it picked up music that was not coming from my laptop. I believe the reset idea will help to ensure that no other device in the vicinity is trying to connect through my speaker. I couldn't find anywhere information on how to disable the bluetooth on the Flip 4.
My flip 4 is plugged into a charging source but it’s just blinking one dot and not going up in charge

I have the black web soundbrick 2 and I plug in one of my chargers and the red power button blinks red I guess it’s charging but how can I tell the difference between when it’s dead/ about to die or when it’s fully charged/ almost done charging

Very helpful. The unit didn't come with a charging block nor charging instructions. No problem. I have extra charging blocks but it was not charging and I couldn't figure out why. I think my charging block was a little iffy. I wish (and assumed) the unit shipped with one.

Yes, you can.
But it will take twice the amount of time to charge , so about 7 hrs
You can also attach to the phone charger
As long as it’s a micro-USB cable - then yes you can.
Seems as if the JBL cord is the best to charge with. I would have thought belkin would work just as good but not so much.
These speakers should come with chargers that plug into the wall! So annoying. I charge mine by using the orange cord that it came with, plugged into my laptop, as my laptop is plugged in being charged. I make sure that the speaker is turned off, and once I plug it into my laptop, one of the tiny lights begin blinking, and it continues to blink until all of the tiny lights are full. I'm guessing that's the method the majority of people use.
It would be nice if they included an AC adapter for charging.
Absolutely don't understand why they don't include the adapter.

In the czech version of the user manual is a note about NOT using the fast chargers, as they might damage the device. However I can't find out, what can be then used, in regards of specification of power @ 5V. Typically a USB charger device (for mobile phones) provides between several hundreds mA to 2A. What JBL means by fast chargers? It just tells that charge time @ 5V 1A is 3.5hrs. Nothing more is mentioned :-) So, as I just found 1.3A 5V USB charger, I use that one.

JBL should have made the charging guide in detail, not just only drawings.
Does it need a spacial charger? should I charge it only by the usb port of my desktop? can I use an older kind of cellphone charger (not the newer super qick charger), should I by a special dedicated charger for it?
Mine used to charge fully (all 5 lights aolid) and the power button would illuminate around the edge, letting me know "fully charged". Now the last light just blinks endlessly and when I unplug the speaker all 5 are lit. Weird.
What is the flop 4 charger specification ? Power ? Amp?

I don't believe there's an audible warning. I think I've only ever noticed the light flashing.

Can I use my iPad charger to charge the speaker? This is the first time I’m charging the jbl flip 4 as I just bought it
You can’t use the cable as they are different types, but you can connect the cable that came with the Flip 4 to the AC adapter that came with your iPad. Hope that helps!

Can anyone tell me: How long does it usually take for a JBL Flip 4 Speaker to be fully charged? Does it damage the speaker if I (forget) to unplug the USB after the speaker has already been fully charged?
My flip 4 didn’t come with a charging lead, edit it did it was at the top of the box and I didn’t know

I wonder if your power source isn't strong enough. Try a higher wattage power brick and a different cable and see if that works.

Weird. No USB cable? You may want to return it for a different one. I would have concerns about someone messing with it.
@@MaxDalton it came sealed I got it new at T-Mobile. On the box what usually says what is included it does not have that on there.
@@MaxDalton I just watched another video on the speaker it showed you the box and that there is a pull-out tray with the cord so I went back to my box and found the pull-out tray. The pull-out tray was hard to see because of course it was black like the inner liner of the box.

The LED lights will be on indicating charge level while you're using it. Good question. I'm too lazy to reach over on my desk and plug it in, but I don't think the light blinks while you're using it and it's still charging.

Maybe. Some micro-USB cables work and some don’t. You just have to try.

No it will probably damage the battery inside the flip 4 due to higher amp because it is a fast charger recommended charger or out put is 5v 1.0 amp

@@batistutaboca While charging turned off, usually all lights go out but when I turn the device on, it's still charging with the fifth final light blinking.
Is it charing yet, isnt it? I can't say if it'll show permanently 5 non blinking lights when it's completely charegd out of turned off recharging mode though.

Try a different charging cable. Some charging cables work, but I've definitely run into issues with some.

No. It will be fine.

Yes, the lights will be on until it is charged. After the speaker is charged, the lights will all turn off - even if it’s plugged in.

The speaker sounds great but Im 64 and the paper instructions are written to small and like most electronic devises you have to figure things out yourself these days. To make things simple you can use an android phone recharge cable from your wall socket to this device and wait until all the lights stop blinking.
When I plug it in it just blinks... it's been 30 minutes... ???

You can try as long as your phone charger is a micro-USB cable.
My jbl flip 4 turns off before the battery dies. It charges in minutes and only 4 indicator lights come on.
Sorry you're having issues. It may be toast. Was there a period of time where you just left it connected to power? How long have you had it? Maybe see if you can still return it.

I’m assuming you mean you connected the USB cable to a laptop. If that’s what you did, it will charge. If you connected it to your laptop using a 3.5mm cable, that won’t charge your speaker.
It should, and even faster. Don' t know how long it will take though. I have mine on there right now.

You don’t have to turn it off, but I would suggest it so that you save battery life.
Of course you want it off. While you won't consume significant power while it's not being used, you will have a trickle of power loss. Left on long enough and you will completely discharge the battery.
It can be charged with a mobile charger.
...or virtually any micro-USB cable.

Yeah that can happen to most devices. Happens to phones and happened to my friends flip 3
I would imagine it will reduce the overall battery life if you leave it plugged in all of the time. That’s likely what you’re running in to.
@@MaxDalton yea thats what I think & now seems to have difficulty charging as from red led to 4 white leds in less than half an hour and have to unplug and replug to gt it to charge as all lights go out before 5th lights comes to life.

No. You can charge it for the first time whenever you want. The battery doesn't have to be completely drained.

Do you have it connected to multiple Bluetooth devices? That can cause some heartburn. Also, disconnect other Bluetooth devices from the device you're trying to play music from. If that resolves your problem, slowly reconnect devices to identify the one causing the problems with your JBL Flip 4.

The problem is its turned red and turned off every time i play several music..but when i put it on charge the 3 light is already on but when i use it to play music same thing happen the speaker turn off n low batt so fast...

I would plug it in after you unbox it and let it fully charge. From that point forward, I would let the battery drain and then charge it, unless it's partially charged and you know you'll need to get a full charge of use out of it -- then charge it.

What part? If you're talking about the cover on the back, you just have to keep pulling at it. If you have a flat-head screwdriver handy, maybe try that.
