Translator failed during Eric Chu Nap Kee's testimony at Truong My Lan trial

Trương Mỹ Lan (born 1958 or 1957 is a Vietnamese businesswoman of Chinese heritage. She is the founder of Van Thinh Phat Group, a real estate development group. In October 2022 she was arrested for fake loan applications to embezzle more than $12.5 billion from Sai Gon Joint Stock Commercial Bank (SCB), which she controlled through more than 2 dozen middlemen. This caused a bank run.
She is married to Eric Chu Nap Kee (朱立基), a businessman in the real estate sector in Hong Kong. In March 2024, her husband was also summoned to the trial, as well as her granddaughter Truong Hue Van, age 34, the CEO of a property management firm. During the trial, Mr. Eric Chu Nap Kee Eric admitted to signing a number of documents given by his wife 'to help SCB overcome difficulties', but now realized that it was a mistake. But actually he spoke in English and the interpreter translated into Vietnamese. Did the interpreter make a mistake during the interpretation process??This video has subtitles.

As a Vietnamese and English speaker living overseas, I don't think the court interpreter accurately conveyed the message.

He's a Hong Kong native they should've made him speak Cantonese and translated that into Vietnamese

as a english and viet speaker, they did ok but at times his english was like a bit confusing so maybe the translation wasnt 100 percent accurate but it was good enough
