      You can find diesel within 5 minutes of your house and anywhere, we’re having to search or divert to find gas, in winter we can use a tank of gas in a few days….

      @@RickandHeatherI’m interested to see how the gas supply network diminishes in the future. Our CV40 is the same as your CV20 was with combined electric and gas water heater and van heater. We tend to use electric hook up a lot so we use them on electric rather than gas so as you do we only use gas for cooking. We currently have a garage 7 miles away but if that goes our next pump gas supplier is 25 miles away. Not good.

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather  2 месяца назад

      Yes our nearest is 20 miles away, we were having to divert a lot, we only have hook up if it’s included

    Hi R and H🙂. There can’t be a single thing you haven’t got on that van now! A good investment I believe, we spec’d it on our van but need to look at a lithium battery one day coz it does drag the battery down on start up.

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah they do pull some power starting up, lithium is a great addition it takes the worry away. We are slowly turning the van into what we ordered 🤣 more to come…..

    Our rapido family PVC has the truma completely buried in cabinet work under the fixed bed with no access to it whatsoever. Idiots, but i hear they are well known for it, they just don't seem to care.
    Truma engineers won't honour any warranty work if they can"t access it. Fantastic workmanship rapido!

    Looks good, and something we may think about in the future. We're OK at the moment as we have 3 places nearby, and they've all said they have no intention of stopping the supply. Because we have a compressor fridge/freezer, our only gas use is for water/heating and cooking. I tend to do most of the cooking outside on a double ring stove if we're away for a while, or a single one if just a few days. Can't do that in the winter and we eat out instead.. lol. Another good video, enjoy and happy camping.

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather  2 месяца назад +1

      Our nearest gas is 25 miles away, we find ourselves diverting a lot, we rarely use hook up so winter camping uses a lot of gas. Diesel is easy to find

    • @tomaitchison8726
      @tomaitchison8726 2 месяца назад

      @@RickandHeather 25 miles can soon add up, we're lucky as we pass at least one on our way off and 2 on our way back. It seems that they are shutting down a lot of the LPG stations, but we're lucky up here as the majority of the Highlands doesn't have mains gas, so there's a big market for it. Here's a fact for you to consider:- "In Scotland, about 86% of properties have access to mains gas. However, the Highlands and Islands have a 66% rate of properties without access to mains gas". It's quite annoying as we can see the rigs from our window with a good pair of binoculars.. Happy days..

    EU vans mostly seem to have truma gas heaters, not good with so many UK garages dropping autogas. Ours is a gas truma. Alternative
    would be to find a space for one of the better chinese diesel heaters or that russian designed made in i think lavia. They are a fraction of the size of a truma which could still be used for just heating water.

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather  2 месяца назад

      It does seem the U.K. are getting rid of gas at an alarming rate, the nail in the coffin for us was that we’ve always had to divert 25 miles from home to get it or make a diversion on route to find it but last fill up in July there was an engineer fixing the one we pulled up at and he said he’d removed 96 pumps so far and there were more to do. The heating uses lots of gas and we like to be off grid, diesel is plentiful.
      We’re happy with the swap.

    Having had boats, with Webasto ( great) and Eberspacher (awful) diesel heaters, I find myself with underslung Whale space heater and underslung water heater which depend on electricity or, very hard to find gas ( underslung gas tank). I will change for diesel, but it's not easy to find companies that will undertake a swop, especially in Southern England. My first camper, had Webasto and it was simple, reliable with the required fuel already on board. I wish converters would fit as standard, or at least give option to spec.

    • @RickandHeather
      @RickandHeather  2 месяца назад

      Definitely needs to be something done by dealers to increase supply, we were just having to divert more and more to find it, this is way better for us.
