It always tastes awesome, tempura just fixes some of the texture issues for some people. My favorite is in gumbo, but I will actually just cook that stuff and eat it directly.
Any time I pick up a slug and then wash my hands I think that somebody, somewhere, has definitely used that as a personal lubricant and I have no idea if that’s a good idea
Why would you pick up a slug more than once? I certainly don't hang or bring in laundry from a clothesline after dark in the summer time while barefoot anymore. You must tell me what wizardry you mastered to get that sticky nasty snot off your hands cause I liked to never got it off the bottom of my foot. It wouldn't wipe off in the grass. Wouldn't wipe off on the concrete. Had to heel walk through the house to the bathroom. Got my foot under the faucet in the tub and made it worse. Soap didn't help. Wash cloth didn't either. I couldn't even get it scraped off with my fingernails. It's been so long I can't remember how I finally got it off. Over forty years. Not long enough I'd forget I don't want no slug touching my skin ever again. 😅
@@pamelasmith7740 sometimes it's just the most efficient way to move the slug, but yeah, washing for a long ol' time with hot, soapy water gets the job done for me. Though I'm now wondering if talc would help
At a certain Temps orbeez and chapstick are slime just as they get hard when cool. I'm sure nickelodeon slime gets hard too. And snail slime, goes into beauty stuff apparently. It's different states of matter. Is lava slime? I love this podcast.
first of all, after first being introduced to Alexis via crash course botany I loved seeing her in more casual enviroment so yes pls put her in more of your things thank you. Also move over pet rocks I want a slime tamagotchi thank u
My friend owns a snake; when they’re looking to mate, they don’t eat. …He had to take his snake to the vet recently because his snake was so horny he didn’t eat for 6 months
why okra air fried and then cooked in onion fry is going to slap so hard its called kurkuri bhindi. yes it will feel like a snot filled tube if you wont deep fry it
Alexis is correct about okra. First try ought to be cooked by a southerner! I only like it when its cooked(fried) passed the slimy point. Thanks for getting me off ice cream btw lmao
The way those plushies should work is: If you press one of them they wil say a number and the other plushies will hear this number so they can sync up and every number correspond to a podcast. if you press them, the number will be random so they will recite a random podcast, however they can listen to you too and if you want to listen to a specific podcast you can tell them the number of it, which is on a list that is given with the plushies.
I was hoping to find more comments of people saying what they would say if they were a doll. I would probably just have a long list of information about parasites and diseases and just weird things in nature that give people epiphneys on a deeply profound and horrific level.
Nature can be weird and gross, but it's only because of our perspective as humans. If we were birds, we might think that fecal sacs are perfectly normal. And maybe even...uh....nutritious.
Okay so I know that sperm plugs and the like are pretty heavily found on land, but I got to agree with Hank here that I bet if you looked hard enough you would find something equivalent in the ocean. It might be a bit more solid, or specifically really heavy on the spermicide side, but I would be willing to bet that if you looked long enough you would find an example. It might not be commonplace but I I can just about guarantee you that it's happened somewhere in that ocean. I suppose you know really it might be a semantics thing too because the ocean uses sperm packets a lot and I wonder if we don't really acknowledge their goopy nature to the extent that we probably should in some of those cases. We probably haven't even checked to see if they have like additional functionality beyond just the fertilization. Make have we forgotten that there are marine reptiles. Have we even looked at what marine reptiles do? Reptiles are real heavy on the sperm plugs.
Why can't I eat jewelweed? I just wanna eat the flowers. And maybe the seeds. I haven't used jewelweed for anything but a stinging nettle emergency, instant relief. I checked several sources including USDA and found no information stating toxicity. I also spent way too much time gathering countless tiny orange blossoms to make a floral infusion or tea as some call it to be used to make jelly. I used only flowers for the tea. The method is pour 4 cups boiling water over as many flowers as you can get in a mason jar, let cool to room temperature then refrigerate or freeze. Having chiggars was bad enough, now you're telling me no jewelweed jelly. I googled til my eyes crossed and can't find out why you said don't eat it.
This is all I could find: “Folks who are prone to kidney stones should probably avoid eating from the jewelweed plant because it contains high levels of oxalates - even after cooking.” It can also act as a laxative apparently, sometimes to a strong degree. So safe to eat but maybe not great.
I don't want to say the mustache looks bad on Hank, but I kept expecting him to pull it off for a Scooby Doo reveal.
Makes him look much older
I would fully support a Shaggy Hank
It makes him look like my dad.
he has the walter white stache
Sam’s “I want to learn some stuff” now lives rent free in my head
personally i’d love a sam plushie that goes THE GAUNTLET when you squeeze his hand
Excellent episode!!! I vote Alexis as a 4th host or at the least a regular guest.
My daughter and I have been telling each other, “Don’t EAT that!” and, “You can EAT that!” ever since seeing this episode. ❤❤❤
Love Alexis Nikole Nelson!! So happy to see her on Tangents 😄
Never go up against a Caecilian when feasting on the slime!
When you play this or that but with 3 options, the game should clearly be called This That or the Other Thing

this or that or that

Obsessed with this collab I didn’t know I needed 😍😍😍😍
9:05 you are welcome 😅😅 10:05
Darn
orbies act as a slime all together
31:04 - 31:09 Sam's face when he looks up the pictures 😯😲🤯 🤣
Weird tip: okra tastes great as tempura, some Japanese places serve it in the US

You should try bacon wrapped gouda stuffed okra boats.
ALEXIS NIKOLE NELSON!!! Her voice is such a joy to listen to
I missed the Bigfoot Hank pin, so there better be a plushie of him that screams "Don't eat grass!"
Wow, I didn't know her but now I love her! Great collab :D

Great guest pick love Alexis!
Hanks plushie would have to be the butt squeeze with random butt facts. How did no one suggest this?
I want a Sam Schultz plush that's like a squishmallow. Omg
And it goes "gahhh" The sound he makes when he finds out that something isn't true that he had been convinced was true.
Okra!
Black Forager! 🤩💕
This was so great! Thank you!
My name is Alex Nelson and I approve this message
My question is how waste exits the snake as they have the cloaca for everything, so if it’s that plugged up, do they not excrete anything for awhile?

Sci-Show Tangents Um, Actually crossover when??
I liked this episode so much I'm listening to it twice! But I need to say, though, that Oaxaca is pronounced wa-HA-kah
The last time I cooked okra, I did wonder about adding it to a sorbet. So this episode is really funny for that reason alone.
My plushie would say fudge sauce. Lol

Congrats!
For gory and Hank guts!!
I love fried okra frfr
I think there's a frog that does the thing with the mucus and the babies. 🤔
Both
Deep ocean
2 tons?
Scary
The okra and corn sound most likely.
What do you feed a slimemold?
Apparently, mostly bacteria and decaying plant matter.
I was hoping to find more comments of people saying what they would say if they were a doll. I would probably just have a long list of information about parasites and diseases and just weird things in nature that give people epiphneys on a deeply profound and horrific level.
Strange Hank (or anyone else) didn’t point out that a ton is 2,000lbs, not 1,000lbs.
Are Orbeez granular slime?
I would argue that they are high density gel. Gel doesn't have the same deformation capabilities or stretch ability of a proper slime.
Hagfish jewelry
Im so slimy
