Miss Janet saved me in '19 at Clingmans. Smokies weather gets scary and she was the last one allowed up to Cling before closure. She saved me, and another 3 hikers, we were all popsicles. Thanx again Miss J.

I’ve yet to meet Miss Janet but so many stories of her helping hikers out and sounds like she really helped you out big time ! That’s great

Thanks for the video. Statistically speaking, early April start dates have the highest rate of completion. This used to be common advise. Then content creators started earlier and earlier to get a head start with the audience. And this influence led to people starting in winter to "avoid the bubble" while forming the bubble. It's kinda sad to see how many are suffering out there in horrible conditions that could so easily be avoided. It can be a 6 months three season hike, as it was for me. Coldest I saw was 30F.

Yes cold hiking isn’t for everyone, I suffered through a February 17 start w a snow storm and week of freezing temps, and witnessed people quit which was a bummer, although that was the most scenic and epic part of my hike surviving through that, I never liked hiking w the bubble so if I was to thru hike again it would be a mid Feb start most likely, but my advice to most hikers would be to try to start in weather they are comfortable in as bad weather can lead to injuries

Timing is everything in the Smokies. Thru hikers tend to be good natured and seem to have ability to laugh off misfortune. Great video thanks!

Hey Baskets!! I'm glad to see you're back out on trail, and I'm looking forward to your videos!! I do have a quick question for you, though.. I've been looking at Tifosi sunglasses for backpacking.. Which frame model and lens color did you end up getting? There's just so many to choose from... Thanks in advance!!

      Hi
      Thanks
I used the ones that can go to clear when it’s darker and adjust and become darker as it gets lighter, not sure which model exactly those are, right now I’m using a regular medium tint
