@@tommylau4421 Wow just Wow apparently the electricity powering that dull bulb of a brain of yours isn't working very well...… FYI with out the electricity you don't have Wifi
This is a lovely little game, with a gorgeous mid-century art style that you mostly never see because you're zoomed waaay out. As an added bonus the version on Android is identical, and pretty well implemented UI wise.
You might be mistaking something here. This was first released in 2016, not quite such an "oldie". It's meant as a sort of spiritual successor to SimTower.
Surprised you only just found this, thought it's the kind of thing you'd like. I was watching one of your old videos (Defect I think) and you mentioned you like the board game Galaxy Trucker, just letting you know there's a video game version that came out recently if you don't know :D .
I've been playing this game for a while and can wholeheartedly recommend it. Though a bit tricky at first, it becomes a super chillax experience that is great for partnering with podcasts or just tuning out to its blissful music and lulling sound effects. And, since i'm entering shill territory anyway, the DLC is some of the fairest you'll find and have made me a fan of whatever those devs put out next.
Unfortuantly project highrise doesn't simulate pop transportation. Sim tower's core gameplay was on managing your transportation network so that your sims could access the services they required. project highrise doesn't simulate transportation so you can just stick all your services in the basement and the game will say that's good enough.
@@MrGhosta5 I didn't remember that. Just goes to show that this doesn't beat the original. Or at least the first one I played. I haven't explored the genre in-depth, so I don't know where Sim Tower stands overall.
Ooooooooh Jon, how can you make me so happy? My girlfriend left me I've been incredibly sick and my friends don't like me and i get bullied but you STILL make me laugh! I just wanna say thank you from someone who can't take it anymore, there are reasons I stay around ^^
I always wanted to get SimTower but dad sold off the PC and the promised replacement never materialised, so I'm definitely gonna pick this up. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, MATN!
So what was the life altering traumatic event that gave you PTSD? Where you are forced into hallucinations and relive the event when a similar situation 'triggers' the original memory, rendering you incapable of rational thought. You know, what being 'triggered' actually means, not just 'it bothers or upsets me'. Misuse of a medical term, for an ailment which people still aren't properly diagnosed or treated, is the real thing you should be upset about.
As someone who has this game, that's both fully accurate and totally wrong. This game has magical elevators that are teleporter shafts a person enters and emerges on the level they want. But Simtower didn't care about you having this one tile gap from planting a copy room rrr.... I need a moment.
It's actually less complex as project highrise doesn't simulate transportation. One elevator can service thousands of people per hour and the dude on the 60th floor can eat lunch in the basemant. Also everyone is bff and is happy living next to each other. The medical office doesn't care about the noise of having a burger joint on one side and a film studio on the other.
@@@pincset the bomb is found if you have enough security offices and not found if you don't. every security office covers a certain number of floors. i think it's around 10 per office and a max of 10 offices to cover all 100 floors. also fires and bombs don't trigger until you hit 3 stars and become less common once you hit 4 stars.
the amount of space Jon wasted by putting offices one, or two lil blocks to the side, or the copy room, or the countless other examples has made me so violently ill I need to go to hospital thanks Jon
Glad there's no fire marshal, you'd have to have stairs all the way up as well as the elevator. Also, do you know that once you get over about 10 floors, engineering elevator scheduling becomes a really big thing to deal with?
If there isn't an office above this coffee shop its going to bother me. But, I'm very content with random useless single cell gaps on all the floors. X_x

Honestly i enjoy sim tower more. Sim tower accurately simulates the transportation of your towers population. Your tower lived or died based on your elevator network. Also you couldn't just go and put things anywhere as that would upset your tenets as many rooms make terrible neighbors and placing food and amenities too far from a lobby meant no one would use them. Project highrise just feels a bit too easy as you generally don't need to worry about placement at all and transportation management is non existent. you can go ahead and place a foodcourt next to a medical office and have your copy service in the basement serve the office on the 60th floor.
This one gets a bit old quick as it's too simple (comparing to SimTower), it devolves into place A next to B next to C and repeat; give Mad Tower Tycoon a try it has some actual traffic management mechanics (which is what made SimTower great).
People say it's like Sim Tower but honestly, I think it's... unnecessarily complicated. OK I'm just not a big fan of having to wire up everything individually. Sim City 2000 did that and it was annoying that every time you built a new area you needed to put up cables just so the electricity could cross a street and if any of those buildings vanished, you could lose entire blocks of power because wiring underground was such a foreign concept... Hell, I think I could tolerate the idea of "Build a utility closet and everything's wired up around it and you can upgrade to include other utilities and expand the radius/make it cover the whole floor" better than wiring every bloody tile..
@@Septimus_ii Still though... Sim Tower didn't have you building little wiring boxes every 10 rooms. I like to deal with my shortages in games with "More power plants" not "More power plants and more wiring"
I love Jons videos, but sometime he's so bad at a game it just makes it painful to watch (oxygen not included and when he first started with CKII). I'm dreading when he finally picks up EUIV.
Hey Jon thanks for your awesome commentary and creative and mostly inventive gameplay. It is truly inspiring. I build a little trojan horse for you with this comment. Is it just me or does john seem to hate everyone asking for a service he does have, of which they expect as it says? And something else Jon just keeps calling people plebs, I think this is one of his most angry videos.
William Stone I'm not sure if you're asking Jon or the comment section, but here goes: I have about 60 hrs in Project Highrise. It's good fun, and building up for the first two, three times feels nice and rewarding. However, once you've learnt how to build a successful tower, the game goes from being a challenging, gradually more complex experience to just busywork. There's not enough challenge to the game to keep it interesting, nor is there enough life and character to the towers to make playing the same tower for a prolonged period of time interesting. If you can afford it, get it. But I'd definitely wait for a sale or a bundle.
