For all of you who seem to think this is a car commercial, NHSA is the National Highway Safety Administration. Notice their logo? Notice their name in the description? Notice how the car's logo is taped up, and how Adam talks about features present in nearly all 2017 cars? How can he be 'selling a car' by talking about standard safety features that exist on... almost all new cars?
These aren't commercials, there's nothing being sold. They're public service announcements about road safety and new road technology. Just because someone takes a sponsored video offer doesn't mean its immediately evil.
+Nightmare Duckie Exactly, it's only when they completely sell out (LinusTechTips comes immediately to mind) that it becomes a problem. Adam is far from being a sellout.
Guys if this was a TV show you'd all get it but because its youtube "how dare you do a paid content vid". If you cant tell theres a lot of money put into this youtube channel and sometimes you gotta make bits like this. Compared to TV its still like 10% of the ads you'd get there. Try to understand the business side. This is gonna help fund other videos that you'll enjoy.
You think the car rig was set up so that if he hit it, it would compress itself and absorb the impact? I was thinking that's why it's on that long rail.
So if you get too close to the other car, your car will send you a message that you will need to read by _taking your eyes off the road_? Oh wow, that's definitely a life-saving revolutionary invention.
What about the cases where it does not work? E.g. cars that are positioned half on the lane? How is a guarding rail affecting the system? Birds/leaves falling down on an allee?
Call me silly, but I like to look out the windshield for things to avoid while I'm driving. It used to be called responsible driving, but now I guess it's redundant.
Hey Tested, search for "Fifth Gear anti crash" to see how you SHOULD have done this video. The technology is really impressive if you had, you know, actually given it a chance to show off what it can do.
I honestly look forward to a day when cars can drive themselves and the passengers can preoccupy themselves with other things, rather than be focused on the task of driving. It seemed like science fiction when I was a child, but modern technology has brought us to a point where it can be science fact in the not so distant future.
Those dumb tire pressure sensors are always going off when there's nothing wrong. I check the tires manually and they're fine. I drive for a while and the tire pressure light comes on. I check the tire pressure manually again and the tires are fine.
Not really much use if someone jams on the brakes in front of you when you're not paying attention. The first instinct would probably be to look at that big bright flashing light on the dash! And I'd definitely want to replace that nice warning tone with the sound of a car skidding, or else have the car automatically apply the brakes.
My Charger goes the extra mile and slams on the brakes for you if you don't react to the alert fast enough. (Which almost led me to being rear-ended once.)
Ok but you understand that if you can see the warning you can see the obsticle that right in front of you .... and if youre thinking that that beep sound is gonna help, it is not... it wont wake you from microsleep in time, and if youre looking away it just makes you think "what was that" and you look out, but it will be too late... the car needs to slow down by itself otherwise its useless
there's a video where a Tesla alarms the driver a crash is about to happen in front of him, before i could even see it coming. I think the driver braked himself and not the car. However, i'm not sure if that's the same tech as shown here so i do see your point.
Good safe stuff, and tested needs the money. But some how i feel that if this had been in the hands of the tested team than this would have been a more fun video. And if it was in their hands... please teach us on how it works instead of showing us that is works.
so i use adblock because yea but on my mobile when im watching i dont. so i saw these ads show up on some vids the past few days when in bed. Wouldnt it be funny if these ads played before this video too.
Adam Savage makes commercials interesting enough to watch once. Thank you Tested but can we get back to something not brought to us by Tested's shameless commerce division.
I don't mind sponsored content, I really don't. But this is just poorly done. This is literally just an ad. This is a minute and a half of superficial buzzy factoids. If it was a more in-depth look at the actual technology or science behind the feature, it would be a different story. You've done it before, you can do it again. Maybe don't just let the sponsor dictate the format entirely?
This is not an advertisement at all. Notice how you aren't being sold anything anywhere in the video. The video is a public service announcement sponsored by a non-profit government agency. There's nothing to buy from any of these videos.
Nightmare Duckie you're right in that it's not an advertisement for a product or company but I can't for the life of me figure out why this video exists. Everyone knows that some cars already have active prevention systems. what service does this public announcement do?
I agree... so far all the NTSA sponsored videos have been very disappointing. Maybe they're trying to keep it to fit on commercial TV? This is tested.. the audience wants you to dig into the technology not just say it's there. There isn't even a bunch of demos showing it in action.
We've advanced to the point where we can flash a light on the dash?! Amazing!! Why was this so dumbed-down? Currently available technology is far beyond the nonsense shown here.
A promotion for a government organization that isn't even selling anything? I wouldn't call this a promotion, its more like the NHTSA sponsoring Tested to make videos about road safety and new car technology
Turn on closed caption 0:15 "as technology advances cars are getting smarter first they let us know when we forgot to put our seat belt *fuck* then they told us when our tire pressure is low"
I can't wait until videos that aren't just 1 minute ads (where I have to watch a 30 second google ad first mind you) instead of the usual, expected content
What's the address if someone wants to send a book on Dada [poets and artist to get to Simone] to tested? Most of it what's famous doesn't really do much for me but Simone's reinvented the movement inadvertently on her own. It's almost as if as a Luddite message she's found her Niche and isn't even appreciating it herself. Art isn't honestly everyone's hobby horse, lol. Great vid by the by. How did happen upon such an interesting artist? Her message is very apt in a time of her generation where people lives and corporate interest are coming to bear so very significantly. I hope you can help inspire her to keep at it. Einstein was only a patent clerk.
Other than straight revenue generation, this was pointless and lame. Also, why is there a scared looking passenger all the sudden and where did they go?!
Like any other technology it will be great till it fails... will you be that failure? Same thing with the self driving car, they'll be great till they run amuck... Now it's computers that look like cars.
These are not commercials, which is clear by the fact that you're not being sold anything. These are public service announcements sponsored by a non-profit government organization. If you're honestly unsubscribing for something that's not even an advertisement you probably don't care about Tested much anyway.
There's a difference between an advertisement and an infomercial. He may be being paid, but he's not promoting a product to sell. He's working with the government to demonstrate upcoming technologies. And it's not unlisted anymore, anyways. There's no laws broken here.
WTH with the dislikes? This channel is probably followed by lots of young people that don't necessarily know about this technology. I agree that there could be more information in this video but it is definitely not doing a disservice to humanity. So, as long as a video helps further technology, safety, engineering and smart stuff in general so why dislike? It is really shameful for this community to be so narrow minded. :(
Macovei Vlad lol pretty sure young people are the ones who would like this and old people are the ones stuck in the past... "I don't need no stinking robit car!"
So it is bad that this is a paid promotion from the NHTSA? Isn't that a US national safety organization? Is that really bad? Really worth disliking? This video is like "Safety technology in cars rulz! Yey safety! Yey technology!". And dislikers are like "F you! It is a paid video, we only want content that the creator is not paid for. Also more in depth free content!" :|
Macovei Vlad it's bad that we have to sit through a 30 second ad to watch another minute long ad.. If you're going to do this at least give us some meaty goodness. Pretty sure RUclips channels are only successful because the fans choose to watch.. If we don't watch, you got nothing..
Dude you missing the point. Huawei didnt invent the smartphone and they are not in any way on the edge of smartphone development. In the same way chevrolet isnt on the edge of car development. This sensor technology is not totally new, but its not old. The companie(s) that invented it and/or are working to develope it should be represented and not the compalny that just copies the last trend to not fall too far behind on tec.
Well, they did put tape over the logo, so I'm guessing the focus is on NHTSA, since they're in the video and the description. Most 2016 and 2017 cars are adding features like these, so I can't imagine this as an add for any specific car.
But this isn't an advertisement. Its a public service announcement sponsored by a non-profit government agency. There is nothing in the video trying to be sold to you
lol companies try to trick us into watching commercials by putting a name we trust in front of it. This is not making me want to buy their stupid vehicle. Making me want to buy it would be making the price about 5% of what it currently is xD
this feels like a car commercial, i wish you had at least talking about the short comings and any issues with the devices. like a review, not a one sided PSA
Well not really, this video is a infomercial (that was payed to be made), If this were a car commercial they wouldn't have taped over the car logo....Just wouldnt make sense .
I really fear that in the future all our automotive liberties will be taken from us... we will be forced to drive cars that are automated or close to it. Motorcycles will be banned from main roads because of the lack of prevention features, etc... I really don't like were this is going!
But these are not advertisements. You aren't being sold anything, these are public service announcements that a non-profit government agency sponsored Tested to make.
For all of you who seem to think this is a car commercial, NHSA is the National Highway Safety Administration. Notice their logo? Notice their name in the description? Notice how the car's logo is taped up, and how Adam talks about features present in nearly all 2017 cars? How can he be 'selling a car' by talking about standard safety features that exist on... almost all new cars?
notice how they paid adam/tested to make about 9 of these commercials in the last 2-3 weeks? Notice that?
They? NHSA? No, I didn't notice 9 commercials for NHSA in the past month, but perhaps I have my subscription settings set wrong.
These aren't commercials, there's nothing being sold. They're public service announcements about road safety and new road technology. Just because someone takes a sponsored video offer doesn't mean its immediately evil.
Noticed how when they highlighted the sensors on the car the rings were nowhere near the forward looking camera or radar!
+Nightmare Duckie
Exactly, it's only when they completely sell out (LinusTechTips comes immediately to mind) that it becomes a problem. Adam is far from being a sellout.
Guys if this was a TV show you'd all get it but because its youtube "how dare you do a paid content vid". Is Adam really excited about anti-collision technology or is that a Vape Mod I see in his pocket?
wow - lots of new, unknown subjects explained in this video.
You think the car rig was set up so that if he hit it, it would compress itself and absorb the impact? I was thinking that's why it's on that long rail.
Good thing he had that fire suit on, the whole experiment could've went up in flames at any moment!
Is this a trailer for an episode of tested? It's interesting but it's only a minute long.
So if you get too close to the other car, your car will send you a message that you will need to read by _taking your eyes off the road_? Oh wow, that's definitely a life-saving revolutionary invention.
The magic disappearing car lady. One minute she is silently sitting in the car. Next moment she disappears.
What about the cases where it does not work? E.g. cars that are positioned half on the lane? How is a guarding rail affecting the system? Birds/leaves falling down on an allee?
Wait, has no one commented on the snake Ford Fiesta mockup? What is that contraption as a whole?
Did anyone else wonder why there was a Subaru dash in a Chevy Malibu?
Call me silly, but I like to look out the windshield for things to avoid while I'm driving. It used to be called responsible driving, but now I guess it's redundant.
Hey Tested, search for "Fifth Gear anti crash" to see how you SHOULD have done this video. The technology is really impressive if you had, you know, actually given it a chance to show off what it can do.
Where's the test, did I miss it?
Totally not a sponsored/paid video, totally no need to disclose anything.
Glad to see Walter White has gotten a job as a test driver
Sensors: The thing that made easy car repairs an impossible nightmare and a fortune to fix.
I honestly look forward to a day when cars can drive themselves and the passengers can preoccupy themselves with other things, rather than be focused on the task of driving. It seemed like science fiction when I was a child, but modern technology has brought us to a point where it can be science fact in the not so distant future.
kinda like trains and buses haha
Where's the test?
Who was the woman in the passenger seat? She disappeared!
Was that an e-cig in his left pocket?
That hat is dot and snell approved. Lol!
wow, really makes you think
I want to know more about that thing he was following. Looked like the back 3rd of a car with a dozen solar panels between the the halfs
We love builds, Adam! Let other channels post their own commercials!
Isn't this a decade late?
... Is that it? So it doesn't brake for you?
He Tested it??? No he did a safety campaign spot for the NHTSA.
Show us the tests
Why does this Chevy have a Subaru dash?
Except this is Adam we're talking about. If he wanted to, he could do donuts around you.
Type below how much you think he got paid.
Note: not being negative in anyway
My Charger goes the extra mile and slams on the brakes for you if you don't react to the alert fast enough. (Which almost led me to being rear-ended once.)
It's a shame we have to find one with the 'technology package' for this. Is it standard in the new Chargers yet?
Ok but you understand that if you can see the warning you can see the obsticle that right in front of you .... and if youre thinking that that beep sound is gonna help, it is not... it wont wake you from microsleep in time, and if youre looking away it just makes you think "what was that" and you look out, but it will be too late... the car needs to slow down by itself otherwise its useless

so i use adblock because yea but on my mobile when im watching i dont. so i saw these ads show up on some vids the past few days when in bed. Wouldnt it be funny if these ads played before this video too.
it's nice to have tech to help people be safe, but if they can't notice something that's directly infront of them, maybe they shouldn't drive.
Why is this getting so many dislikes? I didn't see anything worth disliking
ADAM, I saw you Brain-Candy event Tuesday and I loved it! Nice work!
FUZZ_MUSTARD FUZZ_MUSTARD cool
Adam Savage makes commercials interesting enough to watch once.
Thank you Tested but can we get back to something not brought to us by Tested's shameless commerce division.
test it properly please
0:28 Unusual Safety Tip #1: Start driving, then take both hands off the wheel for 6 seconds.

You're right, I completetly overlooked the fact that it wasn't a product placement. That being said I stand by what I wrote about the format.
maxcornelise I agree, ive seen myth busters and he was talking, like it was white washed with an ad script.
Tested is slowly going down the drain.
My luck I would have a piece of garbage like a plastic bag fly in front of the sensor and it would slam on the breaks causing a wreck.
Wtf was that? Did I miss something? Like the part where you talk about the science behind the Foreward Collision Warning?
Definitely should put this is a PSA in the title.
We've advanced to the point where we can flash a light on the dash?! Amazing!!
Why was this so dumbed-down? Currently available technology is far beyond the nonsense shown here.
Loyal Tested viewers deserve content with more depth than this bullshit.
Without this 'bullshit', there would be no Tested. Especially not with RUclips's recent decline.
There's a way to do sponsored content that isn't a one minute video that serves no purpose.
Adam and the tested crew deserve to get paid so they can continue to make great content. Cut them some slack.
This is an incredible honest comment I hope they take it serious.
"Loyal Tested viewer"... don't sound so loyal.
nice Chevy print lmao
Nothing new semi's have had this for a while.
to bad its this short
Tesla is lightyears ahead if this car.
Ok.
Hey vsauce adam here
I can tell the make of the car. That black tape didn't fool me. I win, you lose.
eeee... what was this all about?! Guess you gotta pay the bills :)
So what was the point of this video really
To sell a brand through paid promotion, it's not that hard to figure out
But why is there a sticker on the chevrolet logo?
not really a good promotion :P
It's a promotion for the guys whose website was shown at the end, they sponsored the video. Not a promotion for chevrolet.
A promotion for a government organization that isn't even selling anything? I wouldn't call this a promotion, its more like the NHTSA sponsoring Tested to make videos about road safety and new car technology
you mean like when Nvidia sponsors a youtubers trip to ces? nothings being sold .. but its still a fucking commercial.
Enough with the nomex driving suit. You in a 4-door going 25 mph.
Turn on closed caption 0:15 "as technology advances cars are getting smarter first they let us know when we forgot to put our seat belt *fuck* then they told us when our tire pressure is low"
dingie256 tyre*
George Woods, you're wrong. The closed captions definitely says "*tire* pressure".
dingie256 they also say fuck as you pointed out... don't believe everything you read.....
so the jerk in the lane next to u who swerves in and cuts u off now allso slams on ur brakes yaa
Now Crash/Wreck it anyway
I can't wait until all cars are like this and crashes are a thing of the past.
I can't wait until videos that aren't just 1 minute ads (where I have to watch a 30 second google ad first mind you) instead of the usual, expected content
Slaughter Round haha I can't deny that

What? 1:17 filled with air? This is crap.
???
Just fyi, Subaru eyesight is best and also tesla.
Like a horse can never become sick or injured.
Darth, you're an idiot as that isn't the topic and horses actually do avoid running into things... it's called a brain, what's your excuse...
I remember the time when GE sponsored this channel, those were the good times! :P
GE?
doreto General Electric
General Electric - Unimpossible Missions.
nice chevy malibu lol
hope they dont go A.I.
Adam savage brefly talks about in low detail what it is. No testing no explaination no nothing just this is it. Pretty pointless video.
What happens if there is a fast car behind you, and the "car has to decide" if the road crossing lady or its owner is worth saving?
um, he didnt test anytihng
he tested how long I will stay subscribed to a channel that shows commercials
These are not commercials, which is clear by the fact that you're not being sold anything. These are public service announcements sponsored by a non-profit government organization. If you're honestly unsubscribing for something that's not even an advertisement you probably don't care about Tested much anyway.
Why are these unlisted?
There's a difference between an advertisement and an infomercial. He may be being paid, but he's not promoting a product to sell. He's working with the government to demonstrate upcoming technologies. And it's not unlisted anymore, anyways. There's no laws broken here.
Those viseos getting shorter and shorter. I dont like it...
If it prevents cagers killing cyclists in road rage that'd be great.
Macovei Vlad p.s. The dislikes are because we expected more from Tested, rather than a quick paid promotion... Definitely could have dived in deeper.
It's not the paid promotion, it's the paid promotion in a 1:17 minute video. Paid promotions are fine, IF they actually have content.
Macovei Vlad it's bad that we have to sit through a 30 second ad to watch another minute long ad.. If you're going to do this at least give us some meaty goodness. Pretty sure RUclips channels are only successful because the fans choose to watch.. If we don't watch, you got nothing..
Great this means less manual cars(sarcastic)
Not as sciency as I wanted.
Maybe sit in a vehicle that didn't just copy its technology from other automakers....
max nilsson lol in that case all cars were copied from the original automobile..
I mean the safety stuff. It's like grabbing a Huawei (Chinese phone) and demonstrating how far smartphone technology has gone.
max nilsson lol almost ALL phones are made in China and Huawei makes a solid phone.. That's why Google use them to make the Nexus 6p lol
Dude you missing the point. Huawei didnt invent the smartphone and they are not in any way on the edge of smartphone development. In the same way chevrolet isnt on the edge of car development. This sensor technology is not totally new, but its not old. The companie(s) that invented it and/or are working to develope it should be represented and not the compalny that just copies the last trend to not fall too far behind on tec.
wtf?
The first tested video I disliked. Literally just an ad.
is this an ad? am I supposed to buy this car?
pete275 yes and no
Well, they did put tape over the logo, so I'm guessing the focus is on NHTSA, since they're in the video and the description. Most 2016 and 2017 cars are adding features like these, so I can't imagine this as an add for any specific car.
Maybe if you can tell me what car this is. Oh wait.
Wow just discovered a bug on youtube, it wont let me skip this ad about a car safety, freaking bullshit.
But this isn't an advertisement. Its a public service announcement sponsored by a non-profit government agency. There is nothing in the video trying to be sold to you
just the hole safety devices that will become mandatory... forcing new smaller car company's out of the market coz only the big 4 have the tec
right, how dare they make safety mandatory!
lol first
lol companies try to trick us into watching commercials by putting a name we trust in front of it. This is not making me want to buy their stupid vehicle. Making me want to buy it would be making the price about 5% of what it currently is xD
this feels like a car commercial, i wish you had at least talking about the short comings and any issues with the devices. like a review, not a one sided PSA
I can see with my eyes i dont need foward sensors
I guess that 3700 people who die everyday of road accidents didn't have eyes.
Norm, you need to notify RUclips that this video was a sponsored spot, seriously. This is getting ridiculous.
how can you say "Contains paid promotion" when this whole thing is just a fucking car commercial? it doesn't contain one, it IS one.
where does it even say that?
Did you watch the video?
Well not really, this video is a infomercial (that was payed to be made), If this were a car commercial they wouldn't have taped over the car logo....Just wouldnt make sense .
yes. nowhere does it say that anywhere in a font I can read.
yeah - it doesnt say that anywhere in the video
Huh that is it??? I was expecting a video... not an intro
Missing your half man....
I really fear that in the future all our automotive liberties will be taken from us... we will be forced to drive cars that are automated or close to it. Motorcycles will be banned from main roads because of the lack of prevention features, etc... I really don't like were this is going!
Huh. It's just a warning? That's it?
Maybe they should rename the channel from TESTED to ADVERTISED.
But these are not advertisements. You aren't being sold anything, these are public service announcements that a non-profit government agency sponsored Tested to make.
I don't even care anymore.
Then why comment? You don't make any sense.
I don't care about arguing the reasons. They are doing sorta better now. Or I'm clicking 1 in 10 of their videos on my feed.
