We still like and use the Tank Check monitor, just a couple things to keep in mind after we have used it for a good while. I wish the battery would last longer and the feet it comes with to go on the bottom of the tank to not crush the sensor are not my favorite. Instead of the spacers, I built a rim for the tanks to sit on and not hassle with the feet. We have only had a few times of misreading tank levels but it has done well overall. Just a few things to consider. Thanks for watching I just wanted to keep everyone uptodate on our review.
did you try changing the update frequency and making sure the app isn't running in the background those can affect battery life and the panel is made for 20lb propane tanks so it would be inaccurate for you size tanks
I’ve had this system for two years, and so far it has worked ok. I did modify my tank holder so I didn’t have to use the spacers, as they are definitely the weak link in the system. I Did come across a better way to measure thou. O.K, I know not many people will have access to a thermal camera, but it works perfectly to show the level. The fluid is a few degrees colder then the rest of the tank and it shows up quite nicely.
David Totten we simply use very the inexpensive tape strip that sticks to the side of the tank and you pour a little warm water on it. It shows the gas level in the tank. In a compartment this might not be practical but our tanks are outside on the trailer tounge.
I have been using this all year. However we were in 10-20 degree weather this past weekend and we had misreadings all weekend. It would go from 100% to 20% all weekend long. But overall love it.

I'll get this one you just demonstrated and test it out until the clear composite tanks finally are available affordable for us poor people. Everything about the clear composite tanks is way better than metal tanks. Happy RVing
The product is very good and we really like the iPhone app. Be aware the rubber cushion adheres to the bottom of the propane tank and when it comes time to remove it to refill the tank, the rubber remains stuck to the tank and the guts come out of the unit. Happened to us twice. The factory supplier replaced both units and advised to smear vaseline or some type of gel on the rubber before placing it on the tank.
Thanks! I ordered them for my 5er with 2 x 30 lbs tanks. I will be concerned with not losing those little tank spacers and having extra CR2032 batteries. Should be worth the convenience of knowing the fuel levels!
Very convenient but on Rvs with tounge mounted tanks that are open on the bottom you’d better secure it with good duck tape etc. so you don’t lose it on bumpy roads. Those magnets aren’t very strong. 👍

pretty sure it's $41 times two.. plus extra for the monitor (which I did not get) -- unless you choose to just have one and put it on the tank that you are using (knowing the other one is full if you've just filled it)
Since it's held by a magnet on the bottom of the tank does it appear strong enough that it would be held in place through bumpy roads and not fall off?
+Texas Crossbow Dude we have traveled with them on from Arizona to California and haven't had any issues with them falling off. And California roads are very bumpy!
Hi, you mentioned that the display monitor isn't as accurate as the phone app BUT I think the display monitor is calibrated for a 20 lb propane tank whereas you can tell the phone app exactly what size tank you have. So, if you have 30 lb tanks then the display monitor will show FULL until your 30 lb tank is down to 20 lbs and then it is accurate from 20 lbs down to empty. I'm pretty sure that my info is correct.
Everyone has at least two propane tanks ..I saved a hundred bucks by filling them up and when one goes empty, I switch it over and go fill it other one back up (tightwad pro tip)
Lol. I used this method all last winter. I would check the tanks almost every day to see when the first tank was empty. Sense then I’ve been looking for a set gauges. I think I’ll just get one of these and switch it out when I fill the empty. Looks like they are running about $35 which is about what I’d pay for two inline gauges. D.
Jared, we've been in our brand new rig for 2 weeks now. I bought the Mopeka sensors and they worked great until I had one filled. I have this on both tanks in my 5th wheel. Love it. Renamed the tanks Driver's side and Passenger side. Using the app on my iphone, one less problem to worry/wonder about
What did you use to build the rim that the tanks sit on? I’m considering buying these sensors but don’t want to have to deal with the plastic or metal spacers.
I have just used the spacers, I wish there was another way around it. I'm starting to look at other options that don't go through the batteries as often.
FYI I have tried to use this for a year. Worked great at first then when I needed to change the battery it keeps saying battery is dead. Changed the battery out with another new battery and still says battery is dead.
my 2 cents worth of input to the amount of propane left in a 20# tank ... method is very accurate. you will live with +/- 0.1 lb uncertainty. but only applies for the sort of camping with a stand alone tank . that is , its not connected to anything until unloaded at the camp site and the Mr Heater screwed on and lit., it is brought along on outings here in colorado from april to october. lays on the back floor of my jeep cherokee during transit all it takes is a 25 dollar Taylor digital bath scale. from wal-mart just weigh the tank. once empty it weighs around 17#. and by knowing about how much is used on a 2 - night trip you can feel safe there is enough. if not and there is a wal - mart along the way they you drop by and swap it. my collection of tanks numbers 4 each. their weight is marked in ink on the tank side , with the date. and updated after use. no app's . no gauges. just an ordinary bath scale that is useful in many other ways too. the scale is also used before and after refilling my 16oz green tanks used with my 1-burner cooking stove. from a 20# tank they refill to 30 oz or more overnight. with one of those threaded brass adapter things that sell for about 8 dollars. weighing the 20# tank works lots better than trying to use a 0-200 psi gauge because the liquid amount of propane pressure is not linear with its height / level in the tank over the range of empty to full the Taylor scale will tell you to the 0.1 # how much propane you've got
Here's a question I have yet to see addressed, can you shine some light on this? I'll be replacing a horizontal LP tank in a class C moho and I removed the gauge, of course. I do not see how this actually transmits LP level from the tank...it was just a clip-on. Meanwhile, the coach has a monitor board that will depend on this gauge. What can I expect when I hook this back up? I see the devices you talked about here and they do not have a real physical connection inside the tank. How do these work, and is it possible my clip-on gauge works the same way? Many thanks.
I realize you posted this 7 months ago, but just in case someone else sees it. I believe these types of gauges work on the temperature difference from when you are using the propane and when you are not. When you take propane out of the tank heat is needed to convert the liquid to a gas. As a result, the tank temperature decreases. ... This level gauge reports this temperature difference.
The company itself is a good resource for this type of information. The device uses ultrasonic sound to determine the density of material in the container.
Buyer-be-ware!!! I purchased these a couple of years ago and they did not work for me. My tanks sit behind a wall on the side of the house with no windows and the bluetooth signal is too weak to go thru the wall. Long story short... they have sat in a drawer useless for the last couple years because I cannot use them. When they come up with a wifi version, I may consider this gadget
Had mine for several years, and do not recommend them. 2 have quit working completely (rv has 4 lp tanks) and they go through batteries about one a month. My tanks are on a flat slide out so have to be completely removed to change batteries. In addition, changing batteries is a PITA, since you nearly break the device getting it apart. When they worked it was cool, but the good feeling, especially at nearly $50 per sensor, does not last long.
I have a 2015 Lacrosse Luxury Lite. My propane detector went out I guess. Steady beeping. Went camping last weekend without it. Got no propane to the stove or furnace. Thought they my be check valve that would cut gas off. Just replace it this morning. Still no gas. Tried both tanks. Tanks have gas. Can anybody help?
It does very accurately in the app. The stand alone monitor with the LED lights is only calibrated for the 20# tanks so the little monitor will show full for the fist 2 gallons. I never use the monitor I always use the app instead and for that it will show the percentage for the full 7 gallons of a 30# tank
The indicator will be good to have in 3-4 years when the manufacturer is no longer updating the app and it stops working with your next replacement phone. Bluetooth stuff is great but relying on an app for something that should last for years is probably not the best bet.
Andrew Fidel - I see what you are saying on this. Very important to consider support for ten years, and not just the first year. Plus this sensor system only does one thing. Think I would rather get good at using WEIGHT as a measurement (option two), and get good at using the WARM WATER (option three) method with my hand or maybe a laser temperature gun (which can be used in many other ways). Still like the technical idea.
Anyone know of a propane tank monitor that can be wired to a 12 V panel. Our water tank sensor panel has an option to monitor propane levels as well, but I can’t find anything with 12 V wires they monitors propane. Everything is Bluetooth and we don’t want that. Help?!
Made in China, this is the problem with this, anyone know of an American made one? I am a combat veteran and support this country only or try to. Furrion is garbage I might add, 3 fireplaces in 3 months, never again and their customer service is garbage.

my 2 cents worth of input to the amount of propane left in a 20# tank ...

all it takes is a 25 dollar Taylor digital bath scale. from wal-mart
just weigh the tank. once empty it weighs around 17#.
and by knowing about how much is used on a 2 - night trip
you can feel safe there is enough. if not and there is
a wal - mart along the way they you drop by and swap it.
my collection of tanks numbers 4 each. their weight is marked

16oz green tanks used with my 1-burner cooking stove.
from a 20# tank they refill to 30 oz or more overnight.
with one of those threaded brass adapter things
that sell for about 8 dollars.
weighing the 20# tank works lots better than trying to
use a 0-200 psi gauge because the liquid amount of propane
pressure is not linear with its height / level in the tank over
the range of empty to full
the Taylor scale will tell you to the 0.1 # how much
propane you've got

The indicator will be good to have in 3-4 years when the manufacturer is no longer updating the app and it stops working with your next replacement phone. Bluetooth stuff is great but relying on an app for something that should last for years is probably not the best bet.
Andrew Fidel - I see what you are saying on this. Very important to consider support for ten years, and not just the first year. Plus this sensor system only does one thing.
Think I would rather get good at using WEIGHT as a measurement (option two), and get good at using the WARM WATER (option three)
method with my hand or maybe a laser temperature gun (which can be used in many other ways).
Help?!
Does anyone use gas fuses with level gauges?
It does not work very well......I had a lot of problems when I changed tanks and customer support would reply to me.
tank gauges don't work that well. I pulled mine off.
The $15 gauges dont work. They will tell when the tank is empty , only when there is no pressure left
gangelone999 Yes, I am finding out the same situation with these gauges. Have you found a solution that works?
Made in China, this is the problem with this, anyone know of an American made one? I am a combat veteran and support this country only or try to. Furrion is garbage I might add, 3 fireplaces in 3 months, never again and their customer service is garbage.
Hope you make some blood money off this product. Reviews say it sucks and is poorly made. Enjoy your vids and info most of the time. Be careful of where you put your stamp of approval or it won’t be trusted in the future.
All of our videos are our own thoughts and we have never done a paid review. We actually use and like this product and it works great for us.
@@AllAboutRVs Buy a new tank and see how it works on a new tank, also contact customer support and wait for their reply.......and wait and wait......and wait.......
