The red didn't cost the US the game. A victory? Sure. But not being able to hold onto a draw against a team, like, Panama, is on the coach. In the 2016 Copa, the US got a red card at 48' but still held on for THE WIN against Paraguay. The present group couldn't hold out for a draw against Panama. Weak. In 2006 World Cup, at 47', the US went down a man against eventual Champions, Italy. They still held on for the tie. Against the eventual World Cup champions.

I hear you and mostly agree but I think you’re being harsh on Panama. They have a good team and have been on an upwards trend for a good decade now. They own Central America at the moment and play with a lot of heart. Once I saw the red card I said “the US will be lucky to escape with the tie” and unfortunately I turned out to be right. I believe that 11v11 we beat them, but it wouldn’t have been easy.

Having one player less in the first half is doom. Believe me, I am Brazilian. The US started pretty well, but they lost their mind to Panama's shenanigans. I just wanted to tell you something, this is not by chance. Latin America has a strong tradition of hurting opponents in every possible way, and this means, for instance, cracking fireworks at their hotel at 2 am. Stoning the bus. Despicable dressing rooms. Awful grass. Security issues. 10+ hours of flight. WinningLibertadoress da America is more complicated than winning the Eurocup. But most people need more time to be ready for this conversation.

Pulisic talking about what Weah did like he missed a shot on goal or something. He more than likely cost USA the entire Copa America tournament, which happens once every 4 years and is the biggest competition for the US 2nd to the World Cup.
You have any idea how disappointing that is for all the fans? Aside from how frustrated and disappointed it makes the fans it's probably also going to have a significant business impact for ticket sales, TV ratings, and merch in the short term.
Who wants to be a fan of this team after that?
Yeah really want to buy a Pulisic jersey for our 'golden generation' team after we get knocked out by losing to Panama in the group stage because some idiot wants to throw a punch 15 minutes into the game, off the ball.
An absolute flop of a performance for a USA team people desperately want to be able to be excited about. One step forward, two steps back.

They'd still need to beat Uruguay. I think Bielsa might rest like 1 or 2 players, but good coaches don't usually rotate more than 3 players. The US could get a tie, but if Panama wins they are out, so the US has to go for a win which Uruguay will take advantage. I think it'll end 3 - 1. With the US scoring a penalty or set piece in the 2nd half. I don't think the US can score in normal play against this Uruguay team.

Our Men's National Team has historically faced challenges when competing outside of CONCACAF. To establish itself among the top teams globally, the US needs to achieve consistent dominance within the region. Recent results, even with numerical advantages, indicate areas for improvement. Achieving superiority over regional rivals like Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Mexico on their home turf is a key benchmark for success on the international stage. For reference, a dominant team like Spain would be highly unlikely to lose to a CONCACAF opponent, even with a one-man disadvantage.

I'd argue that this US team is not as good as people think. Costa Rica is worse, panama is about the same, mexico is worse. Also, most of the matches against the rivals have been in the US. Whenever the US plays away, they struggle. Don't get me wrong, the US team is definitely better with a very good pool of players, but the teams in the Concacaf region hasn't tested the players.

He doesn't deserve to go to the WC, what a wasted opportunity. If the players fight to keep him on the team despite having talked about what was expected before the match and still not being able to control his emotions so early in the game then this group doesn't want / deserve to win.

This was on all Tim Weah and no one else.
If the ref hadn't given Tim Weah a red card for that, then he would really been a TERRIBLE ref.
To me it sounds like total lack of accountability from the USA team and the waffle the players came with sounded like something they got from their head coach.

I am loathed to defend Berhalter & the mentality of this team, but I do not think that they’re blaming the refs for the loss. I interpret them as saying everyone had to be on their best behavior because the ref sucks so they were drilled to not have the Weah lapse in judgement.

Mr. Keller did you watch the headbutt by the Peruvian player vs Canada? Where was VAR & the ref? They have every right to point out that refs at Copa 2024 are a disaster, they are AWFUL.

All of this falls on the coach. Discipline in a team is squarely on the coach. And if there is lack of discipline in a team then it's the responsibility of the coach to fix it and clearly he hasn't and refuses to. And it's squarely on the coach to put the right players in to get the job done when things go bad. That's what a leader does. Greg is not a leader, he is their buddy. He also put them in the wrong formations.

No, but the the plan to keep Gregg was passing the group stages, & even if they lost to Uruguay & the quarter finals, they would’ve said “well, they are better, so let’s not make changes”.
Now they’re freaking out because they have to. Even Gregg was fidgeting in the press conference because he wasn’t allowed to skip it as it’s a CONMEBOL tournament & not a ussoccer planned tournament.
