I wish he published a book in later years like maybe the Invincible / Mature Era so we would get more insight on many events that happened later on in his VERY eventful life, I would’ve loved to hear his perspective on things like that!
I totally agree, but he did do that thru his music. Maybe it was easier for him to sing about his pain & frustration thru music than writing it in a book.
i think this every time i read it!!!
You’re actually right
You're right about his face looking different based on camera angles, etc. His face could look very different depending on lighting and facial expression as well. The press loved cherry-picking photos of him that made him look very different and they'd edit it as well to make him look more white to perpetuate the myth that he bleached his skin.
I personally think one lesser known thing about MJ is related to his Pepsi accident. He had hair/balding problems later in his life due to lupus, but after the Pepsi accident his hair most probably did grow back even if not fully. After his passing, his personal hairstylist from '81-'94, Lottie Rose, was interviewed by Ebony and she directly said that she was summoned by his doc to help him evaluate the damage done to his hair and that he wore a hairpiece briefly until it "healed enough for him to be comfortable with his real hair". MJ even mentions in Moonwalk that he was "real lucky" with the accident. And his hairstylist actually says that she continued using chemicals to give him different hairstyles for the upcoming years. Chemicals wouldn't be allowed if his scalp was sooo damaged that he was wearing a hairpiece for the rest of his life. His hair was in different hairstyles so many times..
so what are u trying to say, that he was actually still bald and he covered it up?? Not coming off as rude I just wanna understand more 😣
@@1luvt4ken81 No, he had his real hair for a long time. Till the mid 90s he constantly used chemicals to keep styling it. However, that would soon cause his hair to become very unhealthy bc he didn't give it any break. From mid 90s, he began wearing full wigs to cover up the real hair (giving it a break) and also bc lupus in his late 30s and 40s at this time was causing hair loss for him as he grew older. By the time of death, he had very little hair left and was wearing wigs all the time.
@@trishaghosh2127 ohhh 😯 thank u sm for explaining ❤️
Moonwalk was the first piece of MJ merch that I had ever gotten as a newish MJ fan, I've been a fan for almost 2 years now. Moonwalk really gives you deep insight on Michael Jackson the person, not Michael Jackson the personality. Something that I think was overlooked in Moonwalk was the stories about his childhood, I think it was very revealing on how it was like for him becoming and being a child star. I really also didn't think he had that much plastic surgery, and he goes over that topic very well in the book, I think he goes over all the things he talks about in the book very well
I agree! thank you for watching and commenting!
In the video for "leave me alone," he pretty much let the media know how he feels about them.
SO TRUE!
Right??? They didn't get the message though.
@@kaylenejantjes8113 they did get the message the just choose to ignore it
It really didnt mater how he looked, he was all ways Michael, I wish that he loved him self has much as others loved him it's sad that he lived his life under a lot off pressure to look better, he didn't need too,he was Bueatifull, loved him so much. miss his magic heaps💜🙏
There will be not man like MJ!Greatest Man!It always remains that!MJ lives in our heart!!!!!!!
his confessions on what acne can do to a teen... until last year, i went through acne , and when i read michaels book, i was like, "hey that's me!"
I never believed Michael had a lot of plastic surgery either. I'm glad to hear your perspective on the book. I remember buying one a few years ago. I haven't read it since. You've made me want to crack it open again and cuddle up somewhere, enjoying this rain we're having as of lately.
Now that I think about it, perhaps Michael should’ve released a anthology series of biography books each year he released an album or something like that, because there’s so much that went on in his life that wasn’t captured after 1988. Topics he would have been able to address personally. Especially during the Dangerous era and History era.
I agree I would’ve loved to read something like that
He had a book of poems, back in the 90's. It's very interesting, you should check it out.
Daily Hunter I already have it
Daily Hunter what’s it called?
Sarah Brinkley Dancing the Dream
Who else started singing human nature when u Heard the instrumental 😂
I'm singing in my head. 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
I always remember how he talked about Frankie Lymon and how he didn't wanna end up like him (he passed away from an overdose). It's heartbreaking to say the least
Hey MJFANGIRL keep on Michaeling😎🤗✌
Something weird is that I was literally JUST reading that book last night for details.. then you upload this lol
LOL! thank you for watching and commenting!
I love the comment you made about his appearance, and acknowledging that he looked pretty much like Mike throughout his life; when you consider that he grew up before our eyes, that he had vitialigo & becauseof that he felt the need to use makeup to compensate for his features being diminished & , that being said - in this age of contouring videos on youtube we watch people transform before our eyes using makeup (contouring is amazing); I've been convinced for some time that media claims of his plastic surgery were grossly exaggerated. Thanks for bringing that out. As always - you knocked it out of the park!!!
I read the book a long time ago and forgot about these juicy details. I must re-read this again. Thanks for highlighting this book. It's truly a juicy gem.
I just read Moonwalk again for the first time in about 4 years. Each time I read it I take something new away from it. I do wish he would have wrote a continuation of his life. Especially after the trail. I love your content.
MOONWALK I HAVE THAT BOOK FOR YEARS!!!!!
Can you react to the Jacksons an American dream its on youtube
I love this book and I recently got this book in March. Love your review!
Yay! Thank you!
YEEESSSS Moonwalk! I love that book so much!!! I remember borrowing it from my public library one time when I was in high school and I wanted to try out an autobiography book. (Ok, here's a little confession: I don't really read a lot of autobiography books. LOL!!) Even though I wasn't a fan just yet when I borrowed it, I still thought it was interesting to see what Michael had to say and wow......my mind was blown. And now during these last 11 years of me being an MJ fan, a friend of mine gifted this book to me as an early Christmas present last year and I'm SO happy to finally have it in my collection!!! Haven't read it in years and it's always fun to dive back into it and pick up things you might've missed when you read it the first time. Anyway, such a great book and thank you, MJfangirl!!! Did I hear you say you'll talk about more MJ books? Yes please!!!
Michael did suffer a heartbreak 💔 from a woman he had a crush on every since he was a boy & she is Diana Ross...do the research & I believe the song She's out of my life is about Diana Ross she lied to him & hurt him. If you listen to his phone conversations he had with Glenda Stein he talks about this & so much more & you can find these conversations on You Tube...check it out...Love ❤ the vid...TFS👍🌻😊
Michael didn't write She's Out Of My Life so I doubt it was about Ms Ross. However, Tatum O'Neal claimed that Michael dedicated it to her
I have read this book so many times😂
I did not know of this book until after he died. I checked it out from my local library and I ended up reading it three times because it was a Michael’s own words.
My favorite part about this book was when he talked about confronting Berry Gordy about leaving Motown because he and his brothers wanted more creative freedom. When he talked about that part, I could just feel the tension because they had such a beautiful friendship so I know that meeting was awkward lol.
YES! I had no idea prior to reading this that he was the one to have to tell Berry. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I have read the book before. Some moments that throws me off are :
1. In The Wiz rehearsal, he talked about how his fellow casts were mad at him because he was the only one who get the choreography so fast while the others have to repeat the choreo thousand times. And the fact that Diana Ross had to pulled him aside and told him to "turn it down a lil bit" lol
2. The fact that he HATED the whole comedy skits that he and his siblings had to do back then, and there's me enjoying every second of those skits 🙃,
3. Him crying at the end of "She's out of my life", because he felt really lonely/he never got the chance to actually dating and stuff. That really touched home, man.
Anyway, i love these reviews. Please do more videos like this, and that fan debate one, i love it !
I am the SAME way, I love the jacksons variety lol, i wish they would've done more like it but i understand why he did not. thank you for watching and commenting! hope to see you at the debate tomorrow :)
WHAT!!!!! i have the book, so now i am re-reading and seeing the juicy details. Also i am FINALLY getting his brothers point of veiw!!! Also i love you alot MJFANGIRL! :) Also i noticed you added the CD clock of Michael Jackson!!!
Another great video! 💖 Like the background music.

hehe :) thank you for watching and commenting!
@@MJFANGIRLTV Thank you for putting out great content and info on Michael.
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
@@MJFANGIRLTV your welcome
I loved the book, it was exciting to read about MJ's life from the man himself, it's very informative, but what broke my heart is what he says about celebrities that passed in tragic ways, & how their fans feel cheated in a way because their fav had an early demise, & then sadly he passed in the same manner, that made me cry
I have great personal memories reading Moonwalk in August 1988. I red the book a second time in 2001, but I still have it and I can say, it`s one of my all time fave books ever. It was like a bible for me.
Rip I missed the live but love the vid I really want the book so bad. Keep michaeling :)))🥰
You know... I’m not the biggest fan of reading (I know, I know) but when I was 13 I read this book and it changed my life! I failed a book report on this in 7th grade for being “off topic” and “too opinionated”😂 learning about Michael Jackson straight from Michael’s head and heart is so important for Michael Jackson fans!
He stopped with his nose after Thriller, and wore contour around his nose to make it look thinner. It's a trick that women do all the time with makeup. If you look at his pictures during the 2005 trial, he's not really wearing the contour in those photos, and his nose looks exactly the same as it did around Thriller.
I absolutely LOVE your channel!! The content is life for a life long Jackson fan ❤️
I am so happy I have found your channel I am a massive MJ fan and you have a ton of videos
I've read the book years back, I've got to read it again!!!
Great video, i really want to read this through again!
I loved the book! Just ordered it for my birthday and read it 😇 I love the parts where he speaks about how he feels about violence or revenge as well as his message behind 'Beat it' basically encouraging peace✌ I absolutely enjoyed the parts where he shares all the fun stuff he did and especially adore his sentiments on children ❤ I just can't stop loving you Michael 😘😘😘
I'm halfway through the audiobook and its so interesting (would have been nice to have MJ's soothing voice on it though). I still want to read and have the book for my collection
I just got Moonwalk, I’m even more excited to read it now! Love your video🔥💫
I thoroughly enjoyed your commentary and you really sold this book, hehe!! I am so happy you started this channel. Back in 2009 there was nothing like this around. Bless you, MJFANGIRL x
Thank you so much!
I'm definitely going to order it.
When I was a Kid I simply got Moonwalk from the library. I've just bought an old version last week, so it's quite funny that you are making a video about it right now. I find that I love reading how Michael tells the story of his life. For example the first sentences of his are all about his adoration of good story telling and his efforts to get there.
I strongly agree with you, it's a blessing for the fan community. Especially in the face of (ongoing!) media scrutiny.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

I remember requesting a video on this in a IG Live but I thought you forgot haha. Im happy to see that you remembered and made a video out of it!
Hope you enjoyed it and thank you for the idea!
I didn’t even know he had a book till today! So
Grateful you did this!

Great review I’m thinking about getting this book it is pretty interesting.
I loved this video and I will definitely get this book!!
awesome! you will love it!
Love this book one of my favorites as well as dancing the dream
Agree with you about his face looking different, I just got this book 2 weeks ago, so far it is hard to put down I feel like Michael is talking right to me as I read ....
Absolutely--Moonwalk and Dancing the Dream. I wanted to know what he had to say.
You are right, this is a great book. I have owned this book since I was 7 and now I am almost 35! It is easy to take this book for granted when you have been a long time fan. I still don't find it juicy, but you really do get inside Michael's mind. Still love the shirt on you too!😉
Love your vid!I am so sad cause I don t have already this book but I am gonne get it!♥️🔥♥️

GREAT DETAILS! THANK YOU~ Altho MJ didn't share much on his youth, Jermaine's book "You Are Not Alone" has lots of stories of Mike. Like-MJ had 24/7 Christmas lights at his
Neverland since as a young J-Witness, both boys used to admire the neighbors lights and lots more stories. Book "Moonwalk" is excellent! Rest in Peace, MJ~~~
*sits and sips tea
I need to read Moonwalk again, it's such a good book with great pictures. I agree with you, I don't think MJ changed much over the years. His different hairstyles, camera angles etc made a little difference not a lot. What I noticed when he wrote about the Pepsi accident, he never played the victim, or wrote about it in great detail, if I remember rightly. And yet the poor man must've been in agony for years afterwards 😣😣. On another note, I love all of your MJ tee shirts MJFANGIRL 😊😊.
Cool
Great work
Thank you so much 😀
How can u say lighting and things that isn’t what changes u to that extent. As a MJ fan part of the community I have to say he had quite a bit done. And there’s a hundred percent a good reason for it.
I believe I read this when I was about 10. I honestly can't remember much of it since that was 10 years ago and the only time I read it, but I loved it. It was so cool to read everything from the horse's mouth. It really brought me into his world which I had not looked into before. I need to read it again! You highlighted great points!

I L.O.V.E this video MJFANGIRL❤️❤️❤️MOONWALK, was one of the first books by Michael Jackson that I got, and I L.O.V.E it dearly, there’s a lot of detail in the book, from him being young, to his adult years, and the book definitely grabs your attention, while your reading it, it’s so good, and i know I’m late watching this, I hope your doing great MJFANGIRL✨❤️😇

Yes I will try to do this soon!

I'm SO happy you did this!!! I love Moonwalk and I think we should use it as a source for reference more than other sources, because you get the story told by him. Regarding the plastic surgery he also explains a bit about his reasons and also mentions changes on his diet and lifestyle. Read it you guys! It's not that big and it's written with easy wording.
You're so right, it is a very easy read! thank you for watching and commenting!

I actually really appreciated the bts of the creative process which is why I gravitated towards MJ in the first place, the music. Don’t get me wrong I also love the tea however I think that MJ is allowed something that is only for himself just like everyone else. So I’m not mad about it and just thankful for whatever he did get to share with us. Only thing I ever wished he would’ve been more transparent about was his skin disease. I think he just felt really insecure about so I get it.
Very insightful
Glad you enjoyed it
I personally believe Michael Jackson's look after the bad era was heightened due to vitaligo (he most likely bleached to even out the skin tone, which I don't hold it against him), hair (wigs that he started wearing mid 90s) and the unfavorable makeup (Karen lost her touch).
I believe Michael had four plastic surgeries by 1988. Three nose jobs; first one in 1978 (after a fall when he was doing a dance rehearsal), early 1980s (just before thriller) and 1984/1985 ( I saw a video of him dancing, he had bandages on his head due to scalp surgery from that burn as well as bandages on his nose). Plus he added a dimple in his chin (which was not there before, and cannot magically appear in his late twenties).
After those surgeries, I don't believe he had that many. If he had more nose jobs most likely reconstructive surgery because of his lupus.
thank you for watching and for the insightful comment!
@sweetangelplus... Do u have any idea what happened to his upper lip? I remember seeing those lips back in the early 2000s. I was crushed. The smile was never the same😪
But hey, I still loved Michael😊
Really enjoyed this video... Should definitely react to other autobiographies, the one from J. Randy Taraborrelli is a good read.
Great suggestion! Thank you so much for watching and commenting :)

2024, İ just red this book in one go.. I mean once I started, I couldn't put it down.. I just couldn't.... All I was, was eager to learn what's next.. What's he going to do next.. N before I know it.. It was over n I felt like this was made in 1987/88... I feel like when he was alive, he could've decided am going to write a second part of my autobiography n we the people would've bought it, because I feel like he was larger than life and he was the only superstar who could've done a 2 parts autobiography n people would've read them all. 🤷🏾♀️....
Overall opinion... It's one amazing book! 🎉
I think his lack of melanin really affected how he appeared in photos. Black absorbs light. White reflects light. Makes a huge difference in photos and videos.
I never thought of that! Thanks for this comment- very true

Here's an audiobook.
Also during the wiz, is when he broke up with O’Neal after she refused to appear on the premiere of the movie. This led to backlash from Michael because this was a project he was very passionate about.
@NitroUnity.. I don't believe they broke up then. The premiere was in 1978. There are photographs of her and Michael at a party a year after during the OTW era and they don't look like "just friends". I personally believe Michael's account from Moonwalk of Tatum and him deciding to "cool off" and be friends contrary to her version of Michael never forgiving her after she turned him down as his date for the Wiz premiere. I mean there are even pics from 1984 and even backstage during the Triumph tour of them together so...
