Call me crazy, but this feels like it'd more fun than the A-model. I have a soft-spot for boxy designs, I liked the Unimog and the AROCS when they came out, but this one has more of that old-school Technic feel. Even the color scheme reminds of the older L8479 garbage truck (the one with that crazy complicated bar-code scanner thing).
I honestly think this set (both A and B model) are easily the best set combined of the year. And not just for Technic - for all themes combined. At the very least, I think all Technic fans must concede that this is the best B-model ever created.
I already made this B model with the technic parts I have. Aside from the rectangle panels that are easy to substitute, it uses a lot of common parts. *Amazing Build.* The functions aren't complicated, but how there are so many packed into one vehicle is cool.
thats a very good score. The best bit is how the front arm also opnes the hole on the roof for the garbage and limits the front arm rotation and the forks can also pivot

IMHO, the 8479 set from the 90s (the bar code truck) with its sort of unique gearbox is of greater engineering interest and features really uncommon lego pieces (like those thin flexible plastic wires to actuate the truck's front arms).

I have made my set auto compact, eject, and even raise the dumpster. Now, let's see if I can get it fully automatic and pick up my unused technic parts. ;) Also, thanks so much for this review. My 2nd account has watched this so many times, and I never thought I would get my 2nd fav set.
Maybe with the leftover pieces and some spare Parts from other sets you can make a container with a little arm to pick up garbage bins. When the front bin is full you can tip it into the back, I would love to see that.

I was never really enthused by the A model, but THIS looks like it belongs in my Technics stable. Frankly, I blame your furry friend for making it look so good. 10/10 for another outstanding video. BTW: where are the plans for it's construction?
All garbage trucks are designed that way so it can be driven/controlled from either side of the truck. It's all about visibility I think, depending on what side of the road that the truck picks up garbage from.

This is easily the best B-Model that LEGO has ever made.

Could be an A-model on its own, some A-models out there are no where near this amount of functions and work put into it. Feels bad :(

For 180$ you are paying the brand logo, not the actual lego engineering put in the set.

Wow, the B model got a better score (about 4.25 average) than the A model (4 average, if I remember correctly). Wonder how often that happens.
