Did your EVO have mods? I have a noise in my rear end of my 2011 MR. and i am stock. Wonder if I will get the same problem?

The car is fairly modified for Gridlife's Street Class, with plenty of investment in suspension and drivetrain, but still stock turbo given the class limits there. The diff that let go leading to this video was an ATS 1.5-way.
The Evo X rear diff (and really any of the AYC diffs dating back to the IV) are a known weak point, especially in cars that get launched regularly for autox, drag, standing start time attacks, etc., but normally they're fine right up until they explode. Some light gear mesh whine from the back is normal, but if the volume continues to increase or all of a sudden gets overwhelmingly loud, that's your indicator of there being a problem. Most guys opt to swap the diff to a USDM Evo 9 unit to remove the weakness once they have a failure.

I made that for Dewey awhile back. It's yours if you want it.
