Beautiful memories miss Cantona thanks for the uploads an awesome channel Man Utd always be my team
I remember being at Stamford Bridge that season when we were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea and after Eric hit the bar from miles away and Peacock scored, I knew we would lose. I was expecting the same thing in the cup final. Luckily it didn’t happen!!
They did the league double over us that year if I remember rightly.
@@mnd1955 they did. Peacock scored the winner in both games
I had no idea how well we actually done in the first half of that game, I suppose the different in quality showed in the second half and the rest is history... well proud of my boys 💙
Chelsea also had plenty of chances at 3-0 down, too
With modern technology, I have managed to enhance these images, enabling me to lip read exactly what Eric Cantona said to Denis Wise before the first penalty and translate it into English:
“Fuck off Wise, you little wanker”
If Peacock had scored that we would have lost I think the psychological blow from him scoring again would have got to us.
I remember this game well I was in Newquay Cornwall with about 10 other salford lads watching it in a pub called the mermaid great memories ❤
The second penalty was just disgrace and i don't know why the referee was not punished
Frank Sinclair got Man of the Match!!! LOL
We were so outplayed by Chelsea in the first half and had the luck necessary in the second. Irwin was so clever earning that pen, waiting for Eddie Newton to commit that poor challenge, intelligent player.
Eddie Newton was not what you'd call a great player.
I remember watching this live.. hoddle unveiling his kit as the second pen went in.. back when if felt the whole country stood still on FA Cup final day
It is still watched all over the world, including here in Australia
First and only cup final I've ever watched the entirety of (none since have been very interesting to me), and it was a fantastic game.
The Wigan last minute header was a beauty of a FA CUP Final lol. One that got away when Man Utd battered Arsenal but they beat us on penalties.
I literally only remember a few FA Cup dates where I knew what I was doing that day. I had a date on the evening of this game and remember the rain falling well into the night, We went to watch the film: Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Utd really picked it up in the 2nd half and that second penalty killed Chelsea. They lost their confidence after that, I felt. It looked harsh.
Chelsea, a great club before they became the "BLOOD MONEY BLUES!"
I remember the build up to this game, alot of people had Chelsea as favourites as they did the double over Man United in the league this season.
those 2 league matches were very interesting indeed. Man Utd played well in both but just could not score!
Cantona man, had wise in his ear trying to put him off, then ellary takes the ball of the spot and puts it where he wants it so the king has to re-position the ball again & calm as you like puts it away! Then goes and puts it in the exact same place for the second 👑
If Gavin Peacock had scored that volley we would not have won that game, he had scored in the 1-0 win at stamford bridge and in the 1-0 win at old trafford if that had gone in it would have been "oh shit not again" heads down confidence gone.
because that team always gave up when down 1-0.
But he didn't score did he ? What a stupid comment!
I can't imagine Man Utd lying down to Chelsea, especially in the FA Cup Final. they were determined to win that day!
That defense was too weak, I wonder if they were meant to play the game
Chelsea battered United first half that Peacock chance was so unlucky, but the rest is history as they say.
This was the start of a 12 year spell of dog shit cup finals ending with the west ham liverpool 3-3 in 2006
ManUtd rule
Referee slaughtered Chelsea second penalty kick completely ended the match
Ironic that Man U destroyed the fa cup later when they chose not to take part in it chasing the $$. That went badly.
Get a grip they were champions league winners and had to take part in it. If the FA would have reschedule they would have played in both.
The FA were going for the hosting of the 2006 World Cup, and they were doing the FA a favour, in order to curry favour with FIFA. Get your facts straight.
Codswallop! They were told they had to enter the World Club Cup, as it qould harm the FA's bid for the 2006 World Cup Finals as if they didn't go Bayern Munich would replace them. UTD pointed out they couldn't play in that and the FA Cup,, United suggested that they could play the U21's in the FA Cup, but both the FA, Tony Blair and Tony Banks, Oh just pull out of the FA Cup no one will care". When the Sh1t hit the fan, both Tony's backtracked on what they said and it became "UTD pull out of the FA Cup"
2nd penalty was really generous 😂😂 it wasn't a penalty, should've ended 2-0
Wembley not the same
Chelsea forever
That 2nd penalty was a disgrace never a spot kick but we won 4 nil any way😉😉😉
referee ruined the game by awarding 2nd penalty for no reason
what are you on, the first was stonewall... i agree the second was soft as shite and really wasnt a pen imo
D.Irwin is lucky to have his legs attached to his body!!!!!!
2nd penalty was not one. watching it back now seeing things I did not even remember. Chelsea played decent 1st half. Big pete was erratic first half. Hoddle opening his tracksuit like superman PMSL Robbo should have been named on the bench.
No penalty two goal
