Ford Engine Blue Enamel. used 2 cans of it and damn is it ever strong paint! but, reminder to those, don't use automotive paint on lexan bodies since it will chip and crack and should only be used on hardbodies. great job Briana and Fil! cheers to both of you. see you in the next one!

Holy Tamiya rails! I throw the last pass of clear over the stickers to preserve them. My Bear Hawk looks the same as the day I built it. .... but it's permanent.
I had been wondering how to bond the decals to the paint... and then if an automotive clear would attack the decals and ruin it all... or if the decals would delaminate and pop the clear! Awesome! I appreciate the education!
Glad the video helped! Just make sure to hit the decals with a hair dryer, so they're set reeeaaallly well, with no raised edges, and the clear coat won't cause any issues. 😁
Sweet Box! I bought a small paint set-up a couple years back to paint a motorcycle I was restoring. I've been wanting to paint a couple RC bodies since, I've even got some yellow leftover...

Does your wife have any tips on using automotive paints on tamiya plastic shells? I did a grand hauler in metallic red using rattle cans. I did 2 coats of plastic primer, 3 or 4 coats of the red to get it deep and uniformed then 2 coats of clear (over decals and other trim bits painted). Problem is when I put a few screws in, some of the paint chipped off really easy.
I taught her how to paint many moons ago. If you follow the steps in my "How to Paint RC" videos, you won't have any more issues. Whether is ABS or Polycarbonate, the rules are the same when it comes to prep. Washing and Scuffing your body would've eliminated the chipping. @poorboysrc thanks, I'll deffo watch them as I'm looking at a clod buster and want to do that a deep green next. I washed the shell and let it dry but I didn't scuff it up so that may be the problem. The paint does look really good, just is cracks easy so will end up a shelf queen till I buy another body and sticker set.
@@dannyseville2543 The scuff makes a huge difference! It gives the paint some mechanical adhesion. Temperatures can have a lot to do with it, too. Paint hates cold. So if you're painting on a cold day, there's some special techniques you can use. If you ever need some more help, shoot me an email, or message me. :)
