In my opinion there only could be 3 reasons the high beam is always on.
    1. A relay is broken.
    2. The car electronic have a problem with lower resistance of the LEDs.
    3. A broken cable behind the lamp
I think it is option 3, because you changed the bulbs it could be possible that you damage a wire.
    2. possible option is that a relay is broken. I think there are only 2 relays for the front light. So it should be easy to check that.
Hope you will find the problem.

      *Journeyman Honda tech here*
The issue with the high beams being on is, due to the way Honda has designed the civix, the DRL (daytime running lights) are powered thru a module under the dashboard, and 2 fuses in the driverside inside fuse box ( fuse #12 and #3 both power the DRL and both need to be removed to disable DRL)
The DRL, run at 30%-40% power of the high beam filament on standard halogen headlights, with LED lights thou, (mainly automotive light) require 100% to run, so whats happening is the led light is powering on via DRL module for high beams and sending the excess power where it can, in this case back feeding it to the highbeam indicator on the dash, hence why the indicator get brighter when you pull on the highbeam selector it gets brighter on the dash.
The way around this is to either order a DRL module for LED conversion that will than use the low beam for your DRL, or to pull the 2 fuses in the dash, look at your fuse panel and remove fuse #12 and #3 (7.5 and 10 amp fuse), #3 fuse is the third from the left on the bottom row....12 is the 2nd from the left on the second row from the bottom
Place the panel back and place the fuses somewhere you can find them if you need them in the future
Turn on the car and your daytime running lights are now disabled.
Hope this helps you out :)

it should be relay the low resistance should'nt matter as it is ment to handle a wide range of power, also if it is a wire you might have a melted wire shorting out due to the heat from the heatsink which it the big bulky thing you should be able to find new dust boots for the led headlamps online

as a fellow civic owner and have owned a few civics. the high beam indicator is on with the daytime running lights. honda uses the high beams with less voltage for daytime lights. if you don't want daytime lights just pull the drl fuse under the dash. i had to when i went to hids or it would burn them out.

    To your light problem:
You might need a decoder or some sort of conversion kit. Different cars have different ways of sending car engine computer faults. This might just be the way your car does it. When the car computer detects an abnormally low consumption of power from your lights, it thinks the light is burned out and warns you. But because LEDs use a lot less power than regular halogen bulbs, the car reads this as a fault.
I had the same problem but an LED decoder fixed that for me!
    Thanks for reading!

yeah you probably have to wire in an in line resistor or switch relay to cancel the light, because the LED buld does not have a built in high beam

Robby that’s totally normal. The daytime running lights use the high beam at reduced voltage. That’s why the high beam indicator is on and slightly dim. It’s cool your doin all the mods from the 2005 era.

  •  6 лет назад

    Hey Robbie!
As I've just mentioned when you installed the LEDs, the connector may melted. Meaning there's a contact problem in there. Try that, in my '93 Sunny N14 had that problem.
    Best regards, Szabolcs.

  • @Fgghgrgrhgfnvkmd
    @Fgghgrgrhgfnvkmd 6 лет назад

Try unplugging the led and see if it fixes the problem. All you have to do is to play with the input power wire. If the problem stops, it’s the LED. In the meantime try replacing the relay with another one from the same fuse box under the hood. If that fixes the problem, you need a new relay. If not, toss out the LED OR get the wired again properly.

@Robbie Ferreira for the struts with the seized bolts, an old as the hills technique that mechanics use is a 1:1 mixture of acetone and ATF, hope this helps your build come on a little faster! (BTW I wouldn't mix acetone in anything plastic, you will have a messy surprise if you do!)

My Honda radio said code. As an anti theft measure, Honda radios will lock if they ever loose power. There is a five digit code to unlock it, that you have to input using the radio preset buttons. Mine was on a sticker that the Honda dealer had stuck in the owner's manual. If you don't have the original owner's manual, you would be screwed.

From the experience i had with changing my motorcycle blinkers to LED ones is that the resistance was way to low so i had to connect two resistors in order to make them calm down hah.
I highly suggest it is the same problem here. Try to replicate the stock light resistance in order to fix the problem. These resistors can be bought really quite cheaply as they are common car electric components :)

Your high beam light inside the car staying on could be a few things.. it usually means you have a high beam bulb out, if that's not the case it could be a short inside the headlight switch , could also be your high beam wires are grounding out somewhere between the harness an the switch , a bad relay is possible but unlikely . I highly doubt it's because of the led bulbs but since they are from wish An cheap it's possible.. I've installed thousands of hids leds in my shop an I've never came across this problem due to a bulb.. pull them out an put factory back in an see if high beam light goes out.. if it does than there's the problem, if not than you just took one possibility out of the equation . Good luck with the build guys ..

Hey Robbie, I just want to throw out that you should probably try and contain whatever rust is on you Honda's frame and body because you're putting all these investments into it. Rust puts every vehicle on a timer, and the budget build seems like an extremely aged car. Don't want it falling out from under you; hope that helps!

It IS a ton of work tho, and I recommend p.o.r. 15 black paint that you can find on amazon and make sure you use drop cloths, face masks, and disposable clothes. Thanks again m8

hey @Robbie Ferreria I just wanted to say something, your speakers that you installed are mid bass speakers so they can not perform at high notes. what those speakers are is a component set. what that is... a mid bass a cross over and a tweeter. thank you.

I’ve commented before, I don’t know that much about cars, but my theory is that the lights fit right, however they are for a more modern car that has lights on at all times, so it’s tricking the computer in the civic into thinking the high beams are on. Personally, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about but, I’m not 100% sure

In my Integra after I installed hids the highbeam light is always on unless I put the lights on then it goes off lol I heard it cuz leds drain a lot less power so the car thinks there's no bulb In or thinks the bulbs dying

    PLEASE READ
I also have a civic but I have a 1994 hatch Bali and my speakers didn't fit and I had to cut that plastic cover but realised that it was there to stop water because the water pours down where the speaker is if you don't believe me try it pour some water on your window and it will pour down to the speakers so just be warned your speakers might rust a bit also a way I fixed this a bit was by spacing the speakers away from the plastic hole as far as I could without the speaker hitting the door and yes that does mean there are more holes and can make the bass on the speakers worse but it's better than nothing I don't have to worry about bass on the door speakers because I have a subwoofer so I'd reccomend you space your speakers a bit too unless you want them ruined

Meanwhile am I the only person who has owned one of these civics to know you don’t need to take the door panels off to swap the front and rear speakers? The speaker grilles pop off for the fronts and back ones. Everything you need to get to is there and there’s plenty of space.

If your led lights don't have a low AND high. You'll get that dash LIGHT. Because the oem bulb is a 2 stage bulb.
