I've installed many fluidmaster fill valves over the years, and the LS, to me, is a step backwards. I believe I've always used "A" series, and the 1 LS I've installed just failed over and over because of the plastic chain floating into a little crack at the base of the buoyant plastic "bell", which prevents it from rising. Wish I had saved the receipt for that thing. Replaced after a week of continual failures
The plastic chain of the "leak sentry" floats, and that makes it not engage. When the water rises the buoyancy of the chain lifts it. I had to attach something heavy so it pulls the leak sentry lever down and it latches correctly.
What a great instructional video better than the paper instruction. Thank you for a great product works awesome looking forward for the savings. Going to replace the rest of the toilets.
Installed one of these today. The instructions here for the sentry chain are better than the paper. There should be an example of a typical toilet set up within the instructions. In other words, have a set up showing a 8" fill tube, and then what the corresponding setting would be for the click turn tube setting. You may even be able to call it an 8" setting etc... Where to put the chain at for the sentry chain was confusing. The paper said with no slack, but with no slack it wouldn't be possible to push down the handle. If you need a proof reader for instructions, then let me know.
I don't understand how this "leak sentry" is supposed to stop the toilet from running endlessly if the flapper valve somehow gets stuck open after a flush operation. It doesn't seem like it will engage unless the float rises up with the water, which will never happen in that scenario. This device just adds another point of failure, as I recently discovered. The link of the extra plastic chain that operates this device snapped at the end where it attaches to it, so the next time the toilet was flushed it didn't refill the tank. I had to pick at it with my fingernail to remove the remaining piece of the link before I could reattach the chain, which is itself difficult to do because you can't see what you're doing and have to complete the task by touch. Thankfully I succeeded, and it seems to be working for now. This video did aid me in adjusting the leak sentry chain after I got it connected.
The purpose of the Leak Sentry is to stop the valve from turning on when the tank is leaking water into the bowl after the flapper is closed. The most common toilet issue is that of a tank leaking from a flapper and when the Leak Sentry is engaged it will stop the tank from refilling endlessly until the flapper is cleaned or replaced. I've installed this Toilet Fill Valve. When I connected the water supply line and turned it on, nothing happens. I jiggled the float valve and then it started to fill. The second time I moved the leak sentry and then it started to fill. I've remeasured everything and all looks good but the toilet does not refill. Any thoughts I haven't considered? I don't understand the physics of the leak sentry. Can I remove this device?
Here is a quick tip that may help, when the Leak Sentry will not trigger the float for a refill or the float turns off before the flush is complete tighten the leak sentry chain from the float to the tank lever arm. Thank you for sharing! My fill valve had debris and because of the end of this video I was able to fix it myself!
This video helped me with my ocd! couldn't sleep till I fixed the full valve leak !

Thank you for this video
I have one of these installed. One day for unknown reason, the water overflew the tank onto the floor and flooded my air vents. What a nightmare!

what's the background music called?
works great, very happy with this product
Oh so happy now! I can make poo in my own toilet again. Thanks Fluidmaster!
If the music wasn’t in here I would be less irritated by how to install this stuff. It’s so distracting.
Don’t buy this. The leak sentry is a useless but incredibly annoying feature.
