It might be centuries old practice, but these are the times of awareness, it shouldn't be hard for people who're wholeheartedly willing to put an end to it. Why can't people start social media campaigns against this ugly system? I have seen 100's of discussions about reservations and hardly one or two come up with a sensible solution which is "no castes no reservations". In these discussions, lot of people show extreme hatred towards caste based reservations and there are people who defend these reservations with valid explanations and then there are people who throw mud at each other, but it's the fourth category I am worried about, why aren't there more people who can say "no castes, no reservations"? It's funny guys: On one hand there are noble ideologies on equality and on the other hand there are caste based reservations. Either the system is stupid or the men in power might have thought the people are dumb.

There are many backward classes in general category, and many forward/dominant classes in reservation - so much so that they don't count as exceptions anymore. The only reason reservation persists today is because of vote bank politics and self serving motives of a few who benefit from it. Most of the reservation benefits are availed by a few well to do families only - time and again, generation after generation. The rest never get the benefit of reservation. That leads to two things: firstly, the apparent/pseudo discrimination against the “oppressed", because they never needed to work as hard as the rest and skill themselves as much. Secondly, the real oppressed people never benefit from it. A few solutions could be: 1. Allow reservation benefit only once in lifetime, so that other people in their reservation category can benefit from it 2. Make reservations more dynamic - caste/religion/economics alone cannot be the criteria, a synthesis of all must be achieved. 3. Delink politics from reservation.

I was a good student, good footballer, good cricketer. My father had sufficient income but upper caste teachers and class fellows always passed derogatory comments against me for being an OBC , It happened because majority of teachers and students were from upper caste, the separate electorate is the only solution of this thousands year old conspiracy, however those Math teachers who loved me for securing very high score in Math never hurt me on the basis of caste, but the others were so horrible.

First thing is I feel that reservation is necessary but it should not be given in the way it is given.. 1) One person take only one reservation in the lifetime.. 2) Only two persons can take reservations in three generations.. 3) OBC reservations should be stopped right now because they are more stronger in politics than general..then why they are getting reservations.. 4) 49.5% Reservations means half of our servicemen are not the best we can get..
I would like to express my opinion firstof all the government should abolish the Casteism in Hindu religion in India. Then make stricte Law for prevent the using of caste base hierarchy . After implement this law every one should be know that anywhere any place across in India using the term of caste is a non bailable offence. If removing/abolishing caste system is not possible then government should give people the freedom to choose their caste, by doing this we can get rid of caste discrimination problem and also implement the idea of giving reservation on the basis of economic status.

A question comes in mind why a particular group of people , i.e. when they are always higher in numbers, accepted the exploitation. Brahmins not more than 3-4% of the population are blamed for that are equally economically weak, as like other exploited castes. Exploitation or discrimination happened or happening because somewhere these people let that happen. Who stopped them to open schools for themselves and make their new generation educated & capable to face the exploiters & prove them by the knowledge that they are wrong. Who stop them to come debate on the social discrimination in the open forums. Weapons like Reservation create a line within the society. They are effective but just like a normal pain killer not going to erradicate the problem permanently.
@deepika shah You need to study some history. In ancient India, cast discrimination was not a problem. Don't confuse Varn vyavastha with Caste. Varna is a managerial system very well designed and followed by all organizations to date. Caste is a social problem that came into existence because of illiteracy across society. You need to do some research to understand these simple but projected as complex, by today's so-called educated people.
@deepika shah I am a Brahmin by gotra. My best friend's family is in the sweeping job. We eat together, studied together. His SC status never bothered me. Yes, some people had some objections in the initial days but a simple why and references from Bhagwat Geeta and other holy scripture demolished all their doubts. I am 40 now and this is all about almost 25-30 years back story. So god knows on what basis people talk all this. Our scripture shatters these nonsense talks. But instead of studying and confronting idiots people just start chanting caste melodrama. Why these activists don't go in those villages to have an open debate based on those texts they think causing all this. The problem is Caste politics is feeding many people so they don't want to eradicate it but want to talk about eradicating it.
@deepika shah This is very unfortunate but believe me I too have wide experience of the city like Delhi & my grandma village in U.P. I never experienced such kind of discrimination with anybody. Yes, people practice untouchability in the sense of not sharing utensils or eating together. But literate of Hindu shastra never do the same. Only illiterate and idiots do such kind of discrimination. I know many brahmins including the world-known Pandit Madhwa Shashtri & my Grand father Pt. Both the shops are same and sell same sweets. But why they get different number of customers.
This is called social system , the old mentality of peoples still exist in us. I belong from upper caste thakur but i can understand this, why dont you.

ask youself what you think of having a meal with a friend who is SC/ST at your house on same table
ask you grandparents or their elder siblings if you could,
tell them 'you invited a friend who is SC to you place had a meal with him/her on same table'

ask same to your parents. ask how would they have felt of having that meal when they were your age
and ask same from your next generation .. you will see a difference an improvement on how the mentality of ppl have changed..

In these discussions, lot of people show extreme hatred towards caste based reservations and there are people who defend these reservations with valid explanations and then there are people who throw mud at each other, but it's the fourth category I am worried about, why aren't there more people who can say "no castes, no reservations"? On one hand there are noble ideologies on equality and on the other hand there are caste based reservations. Either the system is stupid or the men in power might have thought the people are dumb.

Someone who is economically/socially backward or forward today, might not be so in future - neither social, nor economic status is carved in stone. The only reason reservation persists today is because of vote bank politics and self serving motives of a few who benefit from it.
Most of the reservation benefits are availed by a few well to do families only - time and again, generation after generation. The rest never get the benefit of reservation. That leads to two things: firstly, the apparent/pseudo discrimination against the “oppressed", because they never needed to work as hard as the rest and skill themselves as much. Secondly, the real oppressed people never benefit from it.
A few solutions could be: 1. Allow reservation benefit only once in lifetime, so that other people in their reservation category can benefit from it 2. Make reservations more dynamic - caste/religion/economics alone cannot be the criteria, a synthesis of all must be achieved. 3. Delink politics from reservation.
Reservation policy should be modified-
1)Only 1 reservation in job per family purely on economic basis and limited to some years
2)Only reservation in college seats purely on economic basis
3) Special provision for coaching & good primary education for SC/ST

Let me give you an example, there are 2 shops of sweet restraurent on the same side of a road. one named pandit , aggarwal, rajpoot, mishthan bhandar and other named chamar, mehtar, bhangi, khatik mishthan bhandar hai. which shop got more customers. I would like to express my opinion firstof all the government should abolish the Casteism in Hindu religion in India. Then make stricte Law for prevent the using of caste base hierarchy . After implement this law every one should be know that anywhere any place across in India using the term of caste is a non bailable offence.
The government should promote/moniter these things :

To support /encourage Inter caste marriage.
To promote Inter state marriage.

Now coming to the point, caste system is the reason for reservation but not the other way and therefore it only makes sense to first remove that dirty system and caste reservation will automatically end with it. If removing/abolishing caste system is not possible then government should give people the freedom to choose their caste, by doing this we can get rid of caste discrimination problem and also implement the idea of giving reservation on the basis of economic status.

A question comes in mind why a particular group of people , i.e. when they are always higher in numbers, accepted the exploitation. Brahmins not more than 3-4% of the population are blamed for that are equally economically weak, as like other exploited castes. Exploitation or discrimination happened or happening because somewhere these people let that happen. Who stopped them to open schools for themselves and make their new generation educated & capable to face the exploiters & prove them by the knowledge that they are wrong. Who stop them to come debate on the social discrimination in the open forums. Weapons like Reservation create a line within the society. They are effective but just like a normal pain killer not going to erradicate the problem permanently.
@deepika shah You need to study some history. In ancient India, cast discrimination was not a problem. Don't confuse Varn vyavastha with Caste. Varna is a managerial system very well designed and followed by all organizations to date. Caste is a social problem that came into existence because of illiteracy across society. You need to do some research to understand these simple but projected as complex, by today's so-called educated people.
@deepika shah I am a Brahmin by gotra. My best friend's family is in the sweeping job. We eat together, studied together. His SC status never bothered me. Yes, some people had some objections in the initial days but a simple why and references from Bhagwat Geeta and other holy scripture demolished all their doubts. I am 40 now and this is all about almost 25-30 years back story. So god knows on what basis people talk all this. Our scripture shatters these nonsense talks. But instead of studying and confronting idiots people just start chanting caste melodrama. Why these activists don't go in those villages to have an open debate based on those texts they think causing all this. The problem is Caste politics is feeding many people so they don't want to eradicate it but want to talk about eradicating it.
@deepika shah This is very unfortunate but believe me I too have wide experience of the city like Delhi & my grandma village in U.P. I never experienced such kind of discrimination with anybody. Yes, people practice untouchability in the sense of not sharing utensils or eating together. But literate of Hindu shastra never do the same. Only illiterate and idiots do such kind of discrimination. I know many brahmins including the world-known Pandit Madhwa Shashtri & my Grand father Pt. Madan Lal Sharma can debate with any scholar on Sanatan Dharma. They always scold such people who show any dis respect to anybody on the basis of their caste, Varna, Color, or work.
