I know people with really nice machines that really respect Ken's Sewing & Vacuum Center in Alabama and told me they have a great reputation. I talked with them this week and watched their videos on a Janome HD 5050 that is computerized. It has maybe 60 stitches, 1 step buttonhole, auto threader and auto thread cutter, hard case, extension table, a nice amount of feet and a rolling case. $600 and that includes tax and shipping (took 2 days) and great warranties. I got it tonight and have been sewing and love it! Ken's and Janome partnered on this one. This RUclips review by Mimi Todd very much helped me make the jump

I’ve sewn 4 layers of denim but nothing larger. No problem sewing that many layers with this machine. However if you need to sew 6-8 layers of thick denim, I would recommend you get a plain heavy duty machine made for that type of sewing. I’ve seen those advertised on Ken’s Sewing Center website: www.kenssewingcenter.com/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_fRK_Y13PdNelN9P9TlQtULdD2r
I will be making tote bags after Christmas using denim and heavy duty fabrics and will be happy to show you the 4-5 stitches. Thank you for watching!

Thank you for your video. When you sewed your rope bowl did you take the head cover off for the sides? I’m interested in how straight up I can get with the sides of the rope bowl. Thank you.

I removed the table attachment in order to get my hand under the bowl and lift. But did not remove the head cover. The lift upward is what makes the sides go up and straight. Once the bowl gets some size you can cup it over the top of the machine. Hope this helps! Thank you!😊

hello mimi I didn't realize you were watching the instrcutual dvd on your flat screen television in this video but if you can figure it out and have the capabilities when filming you should connect the video camera to the television so that you can see what its going to look like on video and maybe make some camera adjustments on the spot while filming ok ? Thank you very much 😊

I usually purchase tall pants and never need to hem my pants. If I ever need to hem pants for someone else, I will be happy to video that for you!
