One of the sick things about Manowar is that Eric can sing even today in his 70s insanely powerful. Latest shows are absolutely great
To be fair - and totally not to his detriment - he used to be even better. But he still gets up there, which is amazing at that age. The last time I saw them live was 2019 in Stuttgart, and it truly was unbelievable.
@@martinbuhrer3893 i wish they would make full length album, Eric can still be in studio with no problems.
@@pavolridrich3434 I bet he could, but I gotta be honest - the last full album (the Lord of Steel) is the only one of their whole discography I just can't listen to. I think it's a mess of an album, with no direction, terrible lyrics and horrible sound editing. So unless Joey gets his shit together and produces some real bangers like he used to, I'd rather they didn't.
@@martinbuhrer3893 I don't know, I really like the Lord of Steel. And that bass sound, which for many people doesn't fit was great for me. Yeah it may not be as fast as before but we need to be realistic, they are not 25 years old anymore so it most likely will affect their writing as well. But I like that album, I listen to both versions many times and I think I like "bassy" version more.
I wish they can make some fast and shredding songs with Batio now.
It is kinda sad, woth Manowar close to their "final battle" and my one of the top Iced Earth probably gone too and Nightwish who knows what happens ..it looks like I need to find something new... i am still very happy that Snowy Shaw is still productive :)
They did tune their instruments down one step due to Eric Adams' voice getting lower with age but his technique and the sound of his voice is just as good as it ever was.
Highlight of this song for me is Eric Adams vocals.
When have Eric's vocals ever been overshadowed? The man's vocal cords are made of silk and steel.
Check out Sign of the Hammer,Oath,Blood of the Kings,Mountains.
My fav manowar song
Also, the last two tracks The Warrior's Prayer and Blood of the Kings should be listened to together
Thanks for the heads up
Yeah, and keep the story on repeat until you know it by heart and are able to tell it to your grandchildren some day... 😉
Pleasure Slave will be fun to watch 🙂
no, that song sucks lol. Never liked it one bit 😂😂
Waiting for the Blood of the kings song, It will blow you away :-)
Thank you for this album. It is very underrated and you just earned a subscribere here :-)
Hey! Great reactions man!!!
React to Angra -> Carry on & Heroes of Sand
A great band from Brazil!!
Sabaton did a cover of this one.....
Great track and insane vocal delivery by Adams, especially in the end
This album has the whole variety of Manowar, from speed, to slow, and more traditional Metal, and the band is quite happy to take the piss out of themselves, not like other bands of the era, who took themselves to seriously. Eric Adams is the most humble lead singer, very approachable to the fans, giving them lessons, on how to ground themselves, and sing from the diaphragm, teaching them to scream, just a fucking legend. Bought Battle Hymns, when it was first released back in the early 80's, Manowar, and Manila Road, are the first true, and proper traditional U.S Metal bands, and Power Metal originators, are Manowar! Don't listen to them Euro-wankers that try and say Helloween was first, I lived this era, Manowar are the Kings of Power Metal!
Who claims that Helloween was first? Manowar was founded in 1980 - Helloween in 1984. There's no debate, is there? Also I think that the styles can't even be compared. Manowar is much heavier and epic, while Helloween seem to be having more fun with the genre. Manowar - especially today - may seem like a parody of a band, but almost all of their songs are dead serious. They have always been all about battle, victory and loss, tragedy and triumph. While not always meant to be taken at face value, their lyrics have always been straightforward and heavy with imagery, even schmaltz. I'm not saying that I would have it any other way, though, because that is what I've loved about the band for the biggest part of my life. But give Helloween some credit for breaking out of that ultra-serious "us against the world" metal shell and creating something of their own. Just from listening to their hit songs, I'd say they were influenced a lot more by Maiden and Priest anyway than they were by Manowar.
But yeah, I absolutely agree about "Kings of Metal" - what an absolute beast of an album. Definitely one of their best - but trying to rank the albums until the early 90's is almost impossible to me. They're all so close to perfection, it's scary.
@@martinbuhrer3893The point is: Manowar is not Power Metal.
Manowar is Heavy Metal, only retards say they are Power Metal.
@@barryallen1967 Manowar is not the kind of Power Metal as we have grown to know it over the past 40 years, true. But their style is without a doubt powerful metal and thus contributed to and influenced the development of what we know today as Power Metal. Back then, Manowar would have been definitely labeled as "Power Metal".
@@martinbuhrer3893 It 's not any kind of Power Metal. Power Metal has this name because of a Metallica demo tape with the same name. That kind of fast and powerful Metal was what defined Power Metal. Manowar sound has nothing to do with that.
That's why "Crown And The Ring" and "Kingdom Come" must be listened together
I'm not a fan of the Pleasure Slave track. It's a bonus track placed on there after the vinyl release, and to these ears it weakens an otherwise floorless epic album.
Pleasure Slave has always been a guilty... ahem... pleasure of mine. I just LOVE the chorus riff. But yeah, the lyrics are pretty icky, even by 1980's standards.
Keep in mind Pleasure Slave is a bonus track on the CD not on the cassette (this did come out in 88)
I was waiting in line at a Kamelot concert several years ago and there was a 70 year old lady from Puerta Rico in line with her daughters. She was talking about all the metal shows she wanted to see and I remember Man-O-War was one of them. I found a new hero that day!
As long as you are getting your Power Metal groove on, PLEASE do the new Blind Guardian album. It is pure fire!
To get into Blind Guardian, you can't just drop the guy into their newer stuff. Start with the classic "Valhalla" and go forth from there.
@@martinbuhrer3893 He said he has heard the Imaginations From the Other Side album, so I guess it depends on whether he wants to go retro or fast-forward, LOL
@@weshoward450 Ah, I didn't catch that - thanks. "Imaginations" is a great start to get into Blind Guardian. It's epic, grand and has some really catchy tunes.
@@martinbuhrer3893 Yeah, that was a reply to a comment on a video several weeks ago, so probably nobody but me saw it
Awesome music on early Manowar's albums though most of their lyrics were too cheesy for my taste.
Imo KOM was their last good record, I never got into their stuff after Ross The Boss left the band 😢
