I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.
Nice way to retire. For me, I believe retirees who struggle to meet their basic needs are the ones who could not accumulate enough money during their active years to meet their needs. Retirement choices determine a lot of things. My wife and I both spent same number of years in the civil service, she invested through a wealth manager and myself through the 401k. We both still earning after our retirement fund has grown way more than it would have with just the 401(k). Haha.
It's unfortunate most people don't have such information. I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than a million dollars by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Doesn't matter if the economy is misbehaving; great wealth managers will always make returns.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.
Yeah I also wonder why people push back so much about this when it's not even happening to them! I was forcibly retired at 48, and I freaked out for several months until I decided to change my attitude about it and own it, and my life, though not without struggle from time to time, has never been better. And I turn 64 in a couple of months. Meanwhile I was able to spend a good third of the time since I 'retired' abroad in Europe, and right now am laying the groundwork to go back to Europe on a longer term semi permanent basis, after I take care of a few personal obligations and tie up loose ends. I cannot wait! 😀
Watch out for HOA fees on condos and apartments. When you buy, make sure that the contract says 1000/1000 and not something like 500/1000. That means you only own half of the property. Look for areas that have the 7% flat tax rate or you might find yourself with high tax bills. Always go to Italy and see the property in person. You don't really know what you are going to get otherwise. Obtaining a loan in Italy is a hard road to hoe. Find a bank that either works in both Countries or pays cash. Keep in mind that any renovation will require lots of time. Nothing in Italy happens overnight.

Hello everyone, I am excited to share the first episode of our new Affordable Italian Properties series! In this first episode, we're exploring affordable properties in Lake Como. Let me know in the comments which region of Italy you'd like me to feature next - whether it's Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, or elsewhere. Your feedback shapes our future episodes, so looking forward to hearing from you! P.S. My sincere apologies to those who value perfect pronunciation. There might be a few mispronunciations of Italian locations; not everyone, including AI, speaks all languages flawlessly 😁

Io ho messo in vendita un appartamento tra il lago di Como e il lago di Lugano , con la città di Lugano a 20 minuti . Questi video e i commenti della gente li trovo molto utili per farmi delle idee sul mio potenziale cliente . Grazie .

I am italian (born and raised), I live 30 minutes by car from Como; and I honestly can't understand the reason why anyone would want to buy any of the houses showed in this video... I am genuinely curious. Can someone be so kind to explain? Thanks
Sure. The properties like this would be 10 times as much in the United States and the healthcare in the USA can cost 10 times more than Italy. There are other changes in the states that indicate this is a solution.
In Munich you pay 600.000 EUR for an appartment so your whole life not affordable, that the topic. Better to have an old house to renovate then nothing at all.
As a Brit, we have the most costly housing in europe. We are used to taking a shack and doing it up. Often we shun modern houses because we think they are small, boring, and often cheaply constructed
@pd9094 Thank you for nice comment. I use few sites but mostly this- www.immobiliare.it/en/. I usually search through local websites as they seem to have cheaper properties rather than the international ones.
Are there many public access points on this grand lake? I enjoy paddle boarding and canoeing on big lakes like this. I've learned in my travels many popular lakes like this offer very few places with public access to drop in a canoe or paddle board with no parking either.
@jmcqueen7355 Thank you for your comment. Each property has a reference number, if you comment the number I will be happy to send you link to the listing.
Absolutely, there are many property management companies offering such services, from maintenance, housekeeping, rental and administration, they will do full house management service for you.
@@GabriellaDiSantAngelo yes the agency will take some percentage for managing your property. I think it’s better to pay to agency rather than have your property sitting empty if you don’t live in it whole year. It wouldn’t be a matter of paying them for me rather than finding a trustworthy agency
Prices are exploding - You have to have a reserve budget for unexpected expenses and check property by a competent architect before you buy to avoid surprises who can ruin our dream
Agree with the prices. I started doing research on houses in Italy 2 years ago and I noticed there is an increase. Property that was on sale 2 years ago for 60K is about 10K -15K more this year. Absolutely agree with the architect , thanks for the helpful tip ❤
I have lived in Lake Tahoe on the California / Nevada border in the USA.. It a beautiful place, but lake Como is breathtaking by comparison, and affordable compared to other places in Europe. Housing has become outrageously expensive in all America cities Only people who make at least $100,000 + per year can afford to live here. Lake Tahoe is now close to a million dollars to buy there. America is finished. That's why people want to move to Italy from the US and unlovable areas in Europe.
This is what house prices will do as the demographic collapse expands through the world. Major cities are where the young must go to grow but are immediately fleeced as rent slaves.
@patriciamoore3318 I don't sell properties, nor do I aim to profit off Americans 😂. If someone were looking to cash in on anyone, they wouldn't showcase a $48,000 property; they'd highlight a $480,000 property to make money. In Italy, there are quite a few Americans selling courses, books, and subscriptions to property listings to make a profit. In contrast, I offer free insights into property types, locations, and price ranges based on extensive research driven by genuine interest, as I'm currently house hunting myself.
