Bonjour Thomas, Eric here!!! Well, I really didn't see that one coming, and it is a very nice surprise as well as a change from all German cars -- though I totally get your point and know that you are not intentionally excluding any manufacturers! This Peugeot 308 has aged very well in terms of exterior design, especially profile and rear. I really love the compact rear. Maybe only the front shows a little bit its age compared to the newer models. The interior is nice, well designed, neat and minimalist, and I think has also aged very well. My uncle had one a few years ago and he let me drive it. I found it was fun to drive (was also a GT one), and for me it was the perfect size (I am way shorter than you with 1 m 72 cm, haha). After the Alfa Romeo the other day, I am really happy to see you review a Peugeot. I would also love if you had a chance to review some DS models and the next Citroen coming. This Peugeot 308 is about to retire soon and will be replaced by a new model and I hope it will be as pleasant looking, well built... and come in this stunning Thomasssss blue livery. Cheers and a big thanks!

I have had audis about 6 in total and found their Q7 and Q3 the most unreliable but only tiny little niggles electrics and such . The Pug is a well kept secret and every bit as comfortable etc as the A3 for a LOT less money the materials used inside are good to ..not quite up to Audi standards and the infotainment system on the PUG 308 is pretty poor compared to the much better Audi equivalent ..but then you'd pay around 4 grand more on a like for like used A3 compared to a used Pug 308 ..personally that's not worth paying for a few minor annoyances in my book .
Beautiful car, but WHY DOES IT NOT HAVE PANORAMIC ROOF!!?? It is one of the best features, and this is a top model, it should be standard! But this 308 is one of the best hatchbacks you can buy. Peugeot has one of the nicest front ends in the bussniess today. Love that grille! Not sure about the rest though. Both this and the 508 look quite boring from the side. Good looking but bulky and a bit of that 90's/00's Volkswagen dullness. That color really pops though :P
For me the biggest issue with Peugeot is this steering wheel. For me, my knees knock the underneath of the wheel when getting in and out. We have a previous gen 3008 which is much more comfortable than the new one. It has more space and feels more spacious. The new Peugeot interiors look and feel great but they need to do away with this iCockpit thing. I know a lot of people who don't like that and they have most likely lost sales because of it. Still love Peugeot though. I hope their transmissions come from a different supplier now. Our 3008 hdi 6 speed automatic transmission is having issues. They get it from Aisan which is Japanese. They say it's sealed for life but I don't buy it. It no longer shifts smoothly and sometimes it stalls the car when selecting reverse yet Peugeot insists it is fine. On a last note, Peugeot interiors have better quality than VW now.
@Jerry Rawlings Ours is a 2013 model but now only has 73,000 kms on. We have towed a caravan with it 4 times but we've towed the same caravan when it was heavier with our 2004 Mercedes C220 cdi many more times and that has 300,000 kms on it. We don't even use the 3008 for long trips anymore because the gearbox seems to be too fragile to tow maybe? And the caravan isn't even close to the limit in the owner's manual. Mercedes is able to change gearbox oil easily and at the dealership. We've told Peugeot we towed with it and they insist the car is designed to tow heavier and that the gearbox is perfectly fine. Sometimes when we select reverse, it stalls. Then struggles to start. They've replaced the diesel fuel lines, the diesel pump, the filters, even the damn ECU at our cost!! 😠 The engine isn't the issue. The 2.0 hdi remains one of the best and most reliable diesel engines ever made by anyone. It's smooth and quiet and economical and makes good power and torque despite it's age. We keep telling them it's the transmission because when this stalling happens and you select drive to move off, the car doesn't creep forward. It's as if the torque converter is no longer spinning. You'll let off the brake and you can literally feel no fluid movement in the transmission. Then when you accelerate it kicks harshly into the 1st drive gear. After a while of driving it does back to normal. It's like the torque converter is binding or not spinning at idle or something. I've given all the info to Peugeot but they're damn useless. We'd love to tow with it again because it tows better than the C220 cdi (yes the Peugeot is newer but tows amazingly well for a front wheel drive car and the engine is much much quieter. The Merc is old though).
@Jerry Rawlings It depends on where you are. In my country, Peugeot has a small footprint. They're just not getting a hold on our market. In Europe it's probably a different story. So there are not many dealerships and I don't believe they bother with customers. I am sure in other countries they are able to service the transmission but in South Africa they don't seem to want to do so and they don't have the equipment at dealers. It has to be taken to a third party gearbox repair centre for a service. How ridiculous. I haven't heard issues on the 1.2 turbo petrol and the EAT8 is their new 8 speed transmission. It's too new and haven't had experience with it to know if it is better. We did however drive the new 3008 when they tried to convince us to trade in our current one and it was lovely. I'd just check out the reviews of the dealership you're buying from with regards to after sales service. And if you're not towing, you shouldn't have an issue. I believe the towing caused extra wear and tear which then just means some maintenance on the transmission. Mercedes will do it on request but Peugeot doesn't seem to. I'd say go ahead but always test drive other cars before making a decision and Google things like engines and transmission problems for every brand for the specific engine and gearbox you're looking at and also check reviews on specific dealerships.
@Jerry Rawlings No problem. All the best. I think the UK should be fine. I think Peugeot has a pretty large footprint there plus France is just a Euro Tunnel ride away. There shouldn't be issues there.
I have been running a 308 Alure for the past three years, and was glad to get rid of it. The steering was not the best, the suspension was very juddery and the car caught on nearly every speed bump. The worst thing was the heater controls, and as with all Peugeots the aircon packs up after two years an never works again.

when they don't bring out a facelift/new generation: "omg its so outdated!" when they do bring out a facelift/new generation: "omg it's ugly!" make up your mind, people!
Well you have got to know the context. I like both facelifts and new models. Facelift are a nice way to make an older model (3/4 years old) fresh again with new tech, engines and styling tweaks. But in THIS case the facelift comes too late and seems redundant. This model comes from 2013 and has already been facelifted in 2017. That is why it was expected that a new generation of 308s would be shown this year, which is reasonable. For comparison: The Renault Megane is a model from 2016. So in this case it is logical that they facelift it. But with the Peugeot it is way overdue. Seems a bit like a stunt to draw in some extra cash before they release a new version. Unless the price is really low, I don't get why you would buy/lease this over, for example, a Kia Ceed (updated tech), Hyundai i30 (new model) or a Renault Megane (full facelift).
@@Astke well, ask people in france why they don't buy a megane over a 7 years old 308... Which is still the 1st seller in the c segment there. The megane is just a terrible car ...
Looks nice but it’s a relatively shit car. All Peugeot’s are in my opinion. I used to have the 208 and it’s was the highest specification and I couldn’t wait to get rid of it
I've had a 2008 107 for 8 years, 110,000 miles and I hate it. Its too cheap to bother selling and too cheap to fix and to run, to just let it die. I'm hoping some fool will steal it, or something will break that's too expensive to fix. I can't wait to be rid.

I had to double check the posting date of the video to be sure this is a 2020 facelift en not the 2013 facelift..
Beautiful car, but WHY DOES IT NOT HAVE PANORAMIC ROOF!!?? It is one of the best features, and this is a top model, it should be standard! But this 308 is one of the best hatchbacks you can buy. I am over 6 foot 4 and I have not found any other car which is as comfortable and fun to drive. Love these 308's. Also agree that Alcantara seats are a MUST, they are so comfy and supportive and look very premium.
Testing a GT at 80 km/h max. speed on french country side roads... 🐌
Hey its NOT an SUV!!! What happend? :-P
On of the best looking compact cars I think, even in this beautiful color!
Best show on RUclips. Altho the music in this video is not good. I like evening reviews, altho not always possible, because you get better idea of the interior lighting.
Cheers!
how do you think seating would be if i was driving ( 5ft 10 ), and there would be 2 teenagers ( no taller than 5ft 10 ) and my father in law ( again no taller than 5ft 10 ) in the rear, would leg and head room be good or just ok
Hmmm that could work
@@autogefuehl i wish you'd made this video last month because iv'e gone and ordered a nissan qashqai now, but when i replace it in 3 years time it will be good to know that this car could work, thanks for the reply and the thomas blue looks nice btw lol
It should be at least ok. Depends how far back you put your seat back. Same for front passenger.
@@KING0SISQO my wife basically sits on the dash lol, not even i sit that far back from the wheel, thing is leg and head room might be ok but my main concern is when they sit side by side
Sw have longer wheelbase, better for legroom
Peugeot has one of the nicest front ends in the bussniess today. Love that grille! Not sure about the rest though. Both this and the 508 look quite boring from the side. Good looking but bulky and a bit of that 90's/00's Volkswagen dullness. That color really pops though :P
Aisin made gearbox, the same you can find in fwd BMW.
Nice detail, thank you.
This is a old model look
Yep, it's 7 years old, but still holds very well !
Love your videos and I am falling in love with you ;)
☺️
Hallo Thomas
Gracias!
A little bland from a design view especially after the dynamic styling of the 508 and 208. I expect the next gen to have the new design language.
Indeed. Considering the car Thomas is driving is the GT version - there isn't even a rear spoiler!
great!
I have been running a 308 Alure for the past three years, and was glad to get rid of it. The steering was not the best, the suspension was very juddery and the car caught on nearly every speed bump. The worst thing was the heater controls, and as with all Peugeots the aircon packs up after two years an never works again.
thanks for the feedback!
"as with all Peugeots the aircon..."
Nope, definetely not, that's not true at all.
really.. I have 5 year old 308 allure, its perfect, lovely car and I will keep it for at least another 5 years!! very reliable and comfy, and great styling..no issue with my aircon after 5 years either..
@@bigchief2331 So it's reliable cos I'm thinking about this car but put off by poor reliabilty stories.
@@jerryrawlings8885 very reliable, this model of 308 is excellent
The rear seating area is AWFUL
I prefer Golf mk7.5
when they don't bring out a facelift/new generation: "omg its so outdated!"
when they do bring out a facelift/new generation: "omg it's ugly!"
make up your mind, people!
CyAn this is not a facelift, they just added a screen (that should have already been here honestly). The new 308 is coming very soon anyway.
@@Astke well, ask people in france why they don't buy a megane over a 7 years old 308... Which is still the 1st seller in the c segment there. The megane is just a terrible car ...
I really like the 308. Would be nice if Peugeot were more reliable. Greets from Honda :-D
Have been driving mordern Peugeots for the last 10 years, never had any issue. ( second hand 308 thp150, 208 GTi. And 308 GTi )
MrGonzonator haha !! I love how you hope for someone to steal it 🤣 Try driving it off a cliff 🤣
@@MrGonzonator So you basically hate a Toyota ? Interesting...
Ugliest steering wheel.
