Been a third party guy since I started watching JobbytheHong’s third party Transformers reviews about 6 years ago. I used to automatically think third party meant bootleg trash, but have come to realize that third party can mean getting something you can’t get by official means. Example there’s a company that’s doing an unofficial 1/12 scale Chun-Li from Street Fighter Alpha and I absolutely love the Alpha series, so that’s a no brainer for me.
It does change a little from what you see and compare to other figures. When its a boot leg they literally just copy the figure part by part really and copy it that way. When its a third party they design it thier way. It can get kinda hazy in some parts like say 5ktoys I think? How they are making brown suit wolverine. It really does look identical but with tech now that they have it really does seem they took the original and make every part digitally again, then made it so its not a crappy rehash so it actually good quality.
I think there are 2 different types of bootlegs. There are those that steal the modes and make cheaper versions. Then there are those that steal the IP/characters and make their own toys/models/figures. The latter one can make improvements- like those we see for Transformers.
Also, they are the same Company with LingJiHun and Memory toys, so you can check out their stuff under different names. They are making licensed TMNT and Baki figures as well.
I already have that around 2 months ago and it's like a statue turned into a action figure but what blows me away is that I pre-order that at price of 46usd to 50usd which makes it way ahead of any action figure I owned. Details is superb+accessories+sculpt. Thanks anthony for making reviews on these 3rd party figures. Waiting for nightmare studios barbarian and broToys varian wrynn both 1:12 scale.
I just unboxed mine and am totally blown away by the quality, paint job, details etc. Some 3rd party studios like Furay Planet, Hero & Memory Toys (Orc Bounty Hunter) have really been delivering some top notch stuff in recent times. For a serious action figure collector they are getting hard to ignore.
Great review and fantastic looking figure. This line really impresses me and I'm not even a big wow fan either. I don't really mind the 3rd party stuff as long as they don't release really bad bootlegs and try to pass it off as an actual official licensed figure. Although I don't think I own a single 3rd party figure in my collection but if it's something I really want and it's good quality I'd get it
That's a beast of an action figure. Sculpt and paint look phenomenal. The articulation looks good too. Hasbro seem to put effort into face decco and figure sculpt; but skimp on the paint. They also favour dated articulation.
I picked this guy up from 5ktoys. Really solid figure. It displays well with carious combinations of the armor on/off. I think he looks best with one of the pauldrons removed. My biggest complaint is that he lacks a set of unarmored hands.
Was looking for some info about 5ktoys. The site looks kinda plain and sketchy but they list some cool figs. Is 5ktoys legit? How’s the shipping and delivery? Any info would help me much.
@@daniellara7564 I've gotten a few thing's from them with no issue, but I do hear that if you do have a problem communication can be difficult due to the language barrier. but they are legit.
These guys have three different lines. First, there's HeroToys, which releases products from WoW. Then there's MetyToys (formerly MemoryToys), which makes figures inspired by that universe but not direct copies of the characters. Lastly, they have a licensed line called LingJiHun, which has produced great Pacific Rim figures and recently acquired the TMNT license, showing off some amazing prototypes. The last two lines are available at BBTS.
This figure's only about $65-70 shipped. Now compare the paint on this guy with the $60+tax Marvel Legends Hulkbuster. 😆😆 I would mention the accessories discrepancy as well, but what accessories for ML? 🤣🤣
@@brianng8350 I'm believing this less and less as the years go by. I lean more that ML is low effort because they know they'll sell anyways. Look at Jurassic World when Hasbro had the license and then when Mattel has it. Huge difference in quality but not price. Licensing fee is a lame excuse.
You have a foot in both camps, as a person who’s gonna produce your own figures you’re against it and as a collector you can really appreciate the effort the third party companies are putting into their products. For me as a collector I’m ok with third part so long as they are done well. I bet some collectors wish a third party company would do Berserk figures and fix what SHF did.
"Lok'tar Ogar!" I'm not familiar with this helmet design though. Would've preferred the two-horned helmet that's on your standard Grunt from War2 and War3, but maybe that's a bit too on the nose? 🤷♂️ *Edit:* Ask for their Diablo/Big Devil, and ask if they plan to reissue it in the future sometime! ~$300 CAD on eBay after shipping currently. 😭
Pvp armor from vanilla wow. or a version of it. i think there was a purple and red ish orange one. i think the deep red might have been NPC guard armor. Gundamit is where i got mine. they are a split off of ShowZ so showz can stay more transformers and such. been ordering from them for about 7 years now. no issues. i think 5k toys carries them too also a good site.
I like this one a lot, but I'm sticking with the Mithril Action Orcs for now. They are even better IMO. If this is 9.5, then Mithril Action must be 9.8-10.
@@martinschmidt5366 And I'm not a fan of the ill fitting helmet on this figure, and the flimsy, soft weapons on the blade master of Memory Toys.

Ah ,now theres a toy i wouldnt mind having . Thats my style . 3rd party is ruling the game if you not into another spiderman ,batman or he man or another tmnt figure . Which im not interested in .
I have definitely gotten the memory toys, mety toys, hero, toys, mithril action orc bug. I would love you to review one of the Mithril action, guardian of the horde figures and see what you think about the soft rubber torso in comparison to the awesome body book of memory toys?
These figures look amazing and I have zero interest in WoW but they are making it really really hard for me not to buy some lol They are doing a fantastic job with these.
Yeah those third party companies reasons are valid, if the IP holder is not using the IP properly, sell it to people who actually cares enough to make action figures of this IP if ethical stuff is so important for the creators. As a consumer some of us dont really care for the legalities we just want our awesome figures.
The third party thing is compelling, tho my first 3rd party transformer might have not been a good one to start with. Mostly because its riddled with QC issues and just okay made. Is the transform and roll out commander of the stars. Legs would break the ratchet, the hands turned to dust, the shoulders would break, and the backpack is ridiculously hard to get on and not well designed. I got around that, well most of it his hands are still bad. Though we never got a good reissue of him i have the old leader class Cybertron Optimus. I want something like that but better, they did it with armada, was it armada? Cant remember. Though they did it with him and everyone lost thier minds so now lets see of they would with Cybertron Optimus. I think its fine because well they cant fight it too well at points and it will ACTUALLY force them to be good and not swim in the parts bin every time they "need" more money.
Third party putting the big companies to shame. As you've stated in multiple reviews, there's no good excuse as to why the bigger companies can't consis put out this kind of work.
The only good official figures are 15+ old statues, the only figures that are on the shelf are the McFarlane undersized and overpriced statues, or you could try the neca figures and pray that it wont break as you try to pose it. I've always been confused by the term "3rd party." Does it refer to anything made by a company other than the official license holder? Does it include officially licensed and unlicensed products? It might be different for video games, but Capcom is a 3rd party developer for Nintendo, but they have a license to legally make games on the Switch.
That is why I still prefer bootleg. ThreeZero might be consider 3rd party since Hasbro is the owner for Transformers or GI Joe, which they are also making. I think any time when the company is not financially compensated should be considered bootleg.
IDK how it's phrased legally but as far as collectibles go, 3rd party refers to unlicensed merchandise made from scratch. Knock off or bootleg tend to refer illegally recreating something someone already produced legally by way of making mold from existing figures. That's the way I've always understood it at least
Maybe if companies like Medicom didn't make their products so expensive and difficult to obtain, there wouldn't be as much of a market for 3rd party figures. Regardless, IP infringement is unethical.
