Disaster shocking experience at Lake District deepest wastwater lake

- @leevancamp and his brother on holiday drive in the lake district in the Mustang gt and look for a secluded lake for Lee to try out his mew 3 man dinghy intex Challenger 3 he's had for 2 years never used. We go to Wastwater, England's deepest lake, and lies in Wasdale to the west of the National Park. 258 feet deep.
Nearby is the tallest mountain .Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England, measuring 3,209ft (978m) high. Evidently, the shore I line gets deep very quickly, and I get a shock. Ends up like Fools and horses del boy and Rodney . Cold Water Immersion can trigger involuntary gasping, rapid breathing, or hyperventilating due to the “shock” of sudden immersion. This uncontrolled rapid breathing can quickly create a drowning emergency if you inhale water and can not stay afloat.

@leevancamp I imagine it was Lee. Im Cornish & grew up with the sea & everything can change in a heartbeat. You have to have ur wits about you around the water. There were a couple of times I was worried about you tbh. But, all things considered it was a really funny vlog. P.s please wear a life jacket when on the water to be safe, no matter what happens. Spot on a bit further, and you get a sun tan over there. God, that water was freezing. I had fleece joggers on and fleece top, and when wet weigh a ton if I hadn't grabbed the dingy, I think I would have gone under .

You would have been that numb by it that you wouldn't have felt the pain at the time. Joking apart, you were very lucky, it could have all gone very wrong & very quickly! @@leevancamp When your clothing gets that wet, it does weigh you down & can drag you under water. Between that & the freezing waters, it's why people do drown😬 I remember when I was learning to swim at school & we had to take our PJ's. I forgot mine so they gave me some flannelette ones to wear. I was told to jump in, which I did & then sank to the bottom!! I was very small for my age & the weight of the pj's dragged me down & I couldn't get back to the surface!! They had to rescue me! I was coughing & spluttering & then I was sick😂😂 I never went in the swimming baths with school ever again! I can swim & love the water, but never trusted them again! I just remember struggling & the sleeves were far too long on me, so my arms couldn't move properly & I wasn't getting anywhere & just swallowing water! Your fleece would have been like a sponge! At least you were near the shore & hadn't been blown further out by the wind & currents in the lake. I know we all laughed, but it could have turned out much worse & obviously was scary for you when it happened. No more messing about on the water, unless you have your life jacket & are prepared🙄 I can imagine what your mum would have said😂😂

@leevancamp --- Wow, God truly was watching over you that day!! 🙏🏼 Many years ago, a neighbor of my Mom, went fishing with his son in a small boat, at a very deep dam. It was cooler weather, & both had jackets on --- the son fell out of the boat, the dad jumped in and rescued the son, getting him back into the boat --- but the wet weight of the dad's jacket, and jeans, ended up with him drowning. 😢 You NEVER know, so hope this helps you to consider other dangers, when planning your adventures.
