So many things you said made so much sense to me….I’ve been married 26 years and have a 23 and 18 year old. Yes…enjoy this time with your kiddos at this age…it’s so precious!! It does get way harder mentally the older they get…but it’s all fun!!! My hubby and I don’t always do trips on our anniversary…sometimes it’s a night out for dinner or a fun night on the back patio. It’s all good if you’re happy! ❤️❤️❤️
You could always get a rectangle table that would be along the flat part of the wall and make the nook a game area. As your kids grow up they will love this area to hang out with their friends. I think that would be really cool to even have a cornhole game in there.
I appreciate that you take your time with organizing and specifically decorating rather than rushing through it. I feel like when people rush, they can end up purchasing so many things just to toss them in a couple years when they're over them! It's nice to know you buy things to last and enjoy for the long term :)
Also, I had one of your previous videos playing on my phone while making dinner and my boyfriend started watching over my shoulder. He is not apart of the small youtube cleaning community that you mentioned 😂but he was so impressed with the quality of your video and said it was incredibly produced and I just have to say I second that! I’m glad that you put dayS of deep cleaning! Like it took more than a day. Sometimes I get discouraged with what I can accomplish in deep cleaning because I work full time outside the home and I see cleaning videos that look like it took them a couple hours haha. So it’s a good reminder that deep cleaning projects can stretch out over a few days! Thank you for sharing!

As a Mom of 6 here in Houston, I will say you give me sooo much motivation & I actually feel like you give virtual hugs out to all who need it! Happy Anniversary to you both, my husband & I have been together for 35 years...all kiddos were homeschooled, went to college, graduated, & are now working! My parents own a table that is both pool and air hockey in one! The table flips over for each of them and its awesome! Maybe you can fit it all: the table for board games and kid crafts/fun, dart board, cabinet for holding games and crafts, etc, AND the game table!

Gaming area! You can always use the island and even pull out some. Card tables for eating at. Pool tables can also have covers for them that allow it to be used as a regular table as well.

Love this motivation. The basement is amazing!!! Can’t wait to see the decorating. I struggle with being in the moment too. The older I get the more I realize how much I missed. A pool table is always great fun especially as the kids get older but I would love a craft and making table with the girls being younger. They can do jigsaw puzzles and leave them set out on a table downstairs.

Love your basement, turned out great! I would totally make that space next to the bar an eating/crafting/game area. You’ll get a lot of use out of that with the kids and when you have people over. We had a table in chairs next to our bar in our previous house and it SUPER useful!

We’ve lived in our house just over a year and I just started picking some paint colors. I’m tired of construction cream and I’m finally getting inspired. I’m even trying my hand at peel and stick wallpaper on one wall in the laundry room.

The basement looks amazing! Love it! We are finishing a portion of our basement in the new house too. You now have me thinking about furnishing it! For your empty space ideas… we have a finished basement area in our current house and thought about a pool table, but we realized you need a certain amount of room for that (to make room for using the pool cues). So keep that in mind. We opted for an air hockey table and the kids loved it. But looking at your space it really seems like a great spot for a table. Since that will be a sports watching area and you have the bar/sink, it seems to me like a table would go great there. Whatever you decide will be amazing! No doubt.
I just found your channel last week and I love it! You’re very inspirational. I HATE cleaning and have been trying to get more into it but nothing was working. Something about you cleaning and just talking in the background has really helped me get in gear. I kind of think of you as an older sister keeping me accountable!

Girl, same I’m a planner and always looking ahead.. yes, enjoy the moment my daughter is 19 and now I look back and I wished I would’ve enjoyed the moment more it was always trying to be on top and getting everything ready . Now she is in college and I just feel like now what my husband and I are now focusing more on us going on dates etc.

When you were talking about the space in the basement with two possible options my first thought was a little game area with a pinball machine or small arcade game and then you said pool table and I thought “yes! Perfect!” I love the colors you’ve got down there so far and I can’t wait to see you pull it all together with decorations ❤

Happy Anniversary!! I totally agree when you get to a certain point in life celebrating an anniversary with kids is acceptable. When mine where about 10 and 5 they would set the table for two, my son would be the waiter and take our orders and tell us their specials.... my daughter would be the cook... it was great.... the best years. They are currently 16 and 21 so we have been going out for the past 6 years... cause they insist we go out (personally I dont think they want to cook for us anymore) ...

So I have been watching your videos a LOT lately and I really need to say thank you for this motivation. This weekend, I had to get a bunch of stuff done for work so I did that Friday night and early EARLY Saturday morning. Then somehow managed to deep clean the kitchen, deep clean and organize the laundry room, and get 6 loads of laundry done. I have a little bit of energy left so I’ll see if I can get a few more laundry loads done and then maybe clean the living room and breakfast table area. But this is the MOST I have done in one weekend in a while. So thank you for that :) I also want to say thank you for showing the state of various rooms BEFORE you pick stuff up in prep for cleaning. It makes me feel so much better that someone else has this issue too. We don’t even have kids and somehow my house looks like a wreck by the end of the week….every week….every time.

Well done Jamie I’ve literally expressed this to people especially when they are doing renovations that standard household vacuum’s are not for this and will be destroyed unless you have a vacuum cleaner that you put a disposable vacuum bag on or a shot vac your going to ruin the motor and filter
